TORA TASCAR Season 8 - Round 2: Daytona 300 (April 6th)

Welcome to the first second round of the 8th season of the TORA TASCAR Cup! Since its introduction to the Forza franchise, Daytona has become the usual opening for TASCAR.  Just like last year, we are not going to do a full 500 miles, but a tiny more manageable 300 miles.  Due to circumstances beyond our control (the update to fix the pit glitch will occur after the race), and rather than postponing the series ANOTHER month, we are going to switch out Daytona for another round and try again in April.  

Required Tune - For this round only, Ford and Chevrolet drivers must use the tune TASCARS8Daytona shared by SFM Darkzer. Toyota drivers must use the tune TASCARS8DAYTONA2 shared by SFM Darkzer. It was tested extensively to produce closer draft racing.

Qualifying - Qualifying for TASCAR will be a timed session lasting 10 minutes.  Once 10 minutes has expired, racers will finish the lap that they are currently on before stopping on the back straight. If you fail to deliver a clean lap time, your fastest dirty lap time will be recorded and will be placed lower than the slowest clean lap time of your competitors. Please use the qualifying thread to check your qualifying lobby allocation. Remember that drivers should be/appear online 15 minutes prior to qualifying start, and should keep in-party chat to a minimal. Please check the Lobby Settings thread for which overrides are and aren't allowed.
 
Race - This race will consist of 120 laps, including the warm up lap. Drivers are expected to be familiar with the rules and regulations come race time. Please check the Lobby Settings thread for which overrides are and aren't allowed. *For Daytona, cars will be running at the 10% power handicap!*
 
Pit Stops - There are a minimum of 3 mandatory pit stops during the race.

Starting Procedure - The race will start with a typical 80 mph 2x2 Rolling Start towards the end of the warm-up lap. The leader will call the green flag once he hit that start-finish line.

After testing the latest glitches introduced in the latest Forza update, TASCAR will be postponed for one month until March 9th.  Though we could run Daytona on cosmetic damage, this would greatly decrease the overall enjoy-ability of the racing. There is also no guarantee that a patch will be made before the next update.  As much as it pains me to do this, I feel like this is for the best.  To make it up to all 100+ of you who signed up, we will take the time to develop a Daytona Spec tune that will actually produce draft racing.  We will start developing this tune at race time tomorrow.  If you are interested in helping out, feel free to come join.

Gutted that we had to postpone, but it's for the best so that Turn 10 can hopefully get their act together.

Like Ben, I hope a large number of entrants will attend the test tomorrow so that we can try and make the wait worth it!

You can count most if not all of Firelight Motorsports being there to test the new package tomorrow evening.

I'm gonna want all the practice I can get around everyone else, so I'm down on testing with everyone!

Hey admins, if you want help on developing a spec tune, Bolts211743 has created one that has put on excellent races in his NASCAR league. I'd recommend going to him for suggestions.

I'll definitely be free to help test.

Since TASCAR starts March 9th. What other TASCAR rounds gonna be so I can put put it on my Calendar?

Had cleared my schedule to race, so I should be able to be there for the test. Hopefully I'll also manage to use this opportunity to see what the top guys are doing to go 'round Daytona in under 45.7!

I'm not sure how TORA does things, but I know the 12hrs of Sebring is the week after March 9th. So would that mean the TORA 12hrs of Sebring would fall under the March 9th weekend?

What we're gonna do is have people try specific tunes, to see how the draft is affected. It is important that when participating, you drive exactly what is requested, or the data won't be useful.

The test your on about when is it and is it for all drivers ?

I may have found a gear set up to produce more side by side racing without compromising pack racing, saw 5 guys in a pack jockeying for position last night with my adjusted gearing

Gearing is as follows:
Final Drive:3.70
1st:2.80
2nd:1.75
3rd:1.27
4th:0.97

Everything else is original TORA specs, Tunes for each manufacturer are up on the storefront under “Tascar test 5”

I will be hosting a practice session to test the new gearing at 7:00 PM EST if you're interested in testing DM me on Xbox so I can send invites when it's time

This gearing cannot be tested properly (with a view to use in the championship) without a member of staff hosting the session - otherwise we cannot and will not validate the findings accurately. Please refrain from doing this until an official test can be organised.

Furthermore, the tune for use in Daytona will continue to be built off of the one made in the official session
