1999! WOW! Takes me back!
I have the Italian GP on dvd, I lost the tape of this race (being the age of 6 I always wanted to tape the races)
James Allen is a good pit reporter, you gotta give him that.

The floor of the car and maaaaybe the baselines of the sidepods but the rest fo the car doesnt requite that much work. For a double world champ he aint so sharp of the design of ars. The only reason hes saying that is to try and sway the FIA.
Numpty!
I think Alonso is along the right lines, ive heard they need to change the gearbox as the diffuser is fixed to that. Im no aero-nerd; wouldnt mind though, but im sure that it would require a lot of other changes to make it work. New floor for example and spoiler, front spiltter as well probably.
Go Jenson Button! - he wont win much once the other teams have caught up with Brawn.

I just picked that up on the BBC. McLaren being penalised again, the season truly is underway now isn't it!

If the FIA realse the communciation between lewis and the pit wall and the stewards then it will be justified if not here we go agian!

Think this is it here.
Can't really understand this one...Trulli went off the track under the safety car, Hamilton passed, then slowed to let him through again as he was worried he'd be pulled up about it after the race. They asked race control about it who were too busy at the time and then after the race, probably feeling a little hard done to, neglected to mention Hamilton slowing down in their report.
How any of that is worse than Barrichello's bumper car incident at the first turn I don't know.

Re: Formula 1
If you look at Heikki on the main TV pics he does go into the back of Rubens enough to unsettle his Brawn.
Re: Formula 1
I meant to say as well that car must be built like a tank.
But really how long does it take them to get a decision right? Now admittedly Hamilton should have gone back and told them he let him back through, but did they just take his word for it? They only had one lap or so of footage to watch/listen to and yet they only manage to get round to it four days after they made their decision. Its not like stripping Trulli of a podium is a trivial matter.

Just read on Crash.net that Hamilton and McLaren could be excluded from the World Championship for trying to decieve the Stewards.

Re: Formula 1
Its true....its on the Formula 1 official website...Lewis Hamilton is officially EXCLUDED from the points and official race result, for presenting misleading information to stewards. Trulli moves up to third again!!!!
BTW, i also hate Lewis Hamilton.
Robert Kubica FTW!

Even is you dislike Lewis (you can't hate him), you have to admit that this takes a big man and a lot of courage to do this...

he is clearly remorseful and was misled by someone he trusted.

Re: Formula 1
I watched the press conference that he was in and he sounded like he was gonna cry. He knew what he was doing when he went in there and he shouldn't have done it. They got what they deserved tbh, although I think a season DQ would have been a bit too harsh.
I also watched the Witmarsh interview where Ted questioned him...and he brought up the point of why did this Dave guy got fired and Lewis didn't get anything...even although that Dave guy had been a big part of McLaren...he squirmed at the question
Too much money invested in Lewis I guess.
I just read this:
Looks like we will have the good old White and Luminous Yellow cars for the rest of the season then

I just read this:
The new Brawn GP team has followed its dream start to the season by reportedly signing Richard Branson’s Virgin Group for a two-year sponsorship deal. According to SportsPro magazine there’ll be a straightforward $250k fee payable every race by Virgin to keep the Australia race logos on the car this season, but next year the bill goes up to $30m. Virgin will then control the entire livery package, so will be able to sub-let space and keep any additional revenue. It’s been speculated that space on the car could be worth up to $80m, so everyone’s a winner.

Ferrari seem to be saying that they will simply race in other series in order to promote their brand rather than adopt the budget cap.
What options for them? There simply isn't another single seater series like F1 around that has the global coverage.
Other options?
Well, two series spring to mind currently.
First would be to more directly promote their road cars through factory entries in an LMS/ALMS series. This could be as a prototype or GT class entry.
Prototype: Allows Ferrari to put all their technical strength behind a top line, overall race winning entry. Could retain the technical/design staff from the F1 effort and focus on being the best of the best in Endurance racing.
GT: More directly relevant on the road car sales/development.
Ferrari already have a HUGE presence in GT2 and GT3 but not in the premier class. Drawback of this is the dwindling numbers in GT1 and lack of competition in GT2 currently. Were the ACO to consider similar regulation changes to SRO then maybe a GT1 effort would not be so stupid.
Second option:
Entry into the GT World Series.
A 'works' team isn't really what SRO is looking for from the new GT1 class but certainly a significantly works supported effort could robably get through this problem. A 595 GT1 then?
Again, Ferrari already dominates the GT2 field so apart from a works supporte effort there would be little sense in entering a field already saturated with F430s!
Anything else?
Single seaters? GP2 and F2 are out as they are basically one make series and feeder series for F1. The same problem arises for racing in America which, while it is a key market for Ferrari hardly provides the same level of competition AND is a one make series.
Short of reviving the GPWC concept with the other manufacturers under FOTA there is NO single seater based series which would provide Ferrari with the same level of exposure as F1 does currently.

Re: Formula 1
Engine suply for the new Indycar in 2011? Sportscar Racing?
Audi will be phasing out of Sportscars very soon, expect to see Porsche replace them, so this may be the perfect time to see Ferrari come in.
Or, how about a break away series like the Grand Prix championship that was threatened a few years back? Perhaps a team owned series, like CART used to be before the merger last year?

Re: Formula 1
As I said the problem with the American Single seater series is, will they settle for a solely engine supply? They probably wont want to develop a chassis to the restricitive nature of the Indycar regs which would almost certainly leave them as engine suppliers which doesn't allow for the same exposure.
Sportscars is a definite possiblilty (see my reasoning above) and the GPWC COULD be revived as a solely manufacturer based series with F1 becoming independant based once again.
IF Ferrari withdraw then expect sportscars to be VERY high on the list.
