Re: WRC 2010
Who's bought this then?
I got it from launch and it's really as fun as I'd hoped. Yeah graphically it's a little behind but the fundations are there for a brilliant franchise

Bought it at launch, many flaws yea but I was craving for a rally game
Online modes are really fun and challenging.
If ever you make a short championship count me in
Re: WRC 2010
I got Dirt 2 last week instead (less than a tenner off ebay, bargain!), but I plan on getting this eventually. It's one of those games that'll be on offer or in the sale by Xmas, so I can wait and pick it up cheap.
But yeah, I really want a proper rally game, Dirt 2 is great fun, but doing one stage and calling it a rally?

Re: WRC 2010
We know Dirt 3 will always be better but I think there is merit in this game. Lots of people seem to be slating it but I'm unsure as to why, over and above the graphics.

Re: WRC 2010
Bought this on friday night.Played it a good bit and im addicated.Yes the graphics arent up to scratch but the car feel and handling is spot on.The different class system is brilliant.Great way of slowly going up the ladder.Tried it online too and it works well very hard tho(need more practice).
This is a newer RBR with more cars and lots of wee bits added sponsors, basic vinyl editor.
If your a true rally fan you need to buy this game.
A TORA rally championship???

Re: WRC 2010
I wouldnt say WRC 2010 is ''a new RBR''. RBR is outstanding in all areas, a proper hardcore sim, up there at a standard even above simbins offerings, bordering on the netkar and iracing end of the spectrum.
WRC 2010 is good, and difficult, which is good. But its not that good.

Re: WRC 2010
well nicky its the best offering the rally fans had in years.Colin Mcrae dirt was good but the car handling wasnt great which dirt 2 improved but lost most of the good bits.

Re: WRC 2010
I think (and i keep saying this) Dirt 3 is going to be a real proper rallying game with proper cars and stages, I mean, look at f1 2010.
Re: WRC 2010
i hope so too
Ive always thought of the Colin Mcrae games as the best allround rally game.RBR was the hardcore gamers choice but lacked the cars and the polish that CMR had. Then Dirt 1 was released which was amazing( still the only game ive got 1000 gamerscore for).I spent hours going up Pikes Peak and the different rally events.Germany was the great fun fast and twisty brilliant.
Then Dirt2 which i bought at launch and played to find the CMR bit had gone the proper rallying had gone:( So Dirt3 better has to improve so much over 2! i hope they take Dirt3 back to the legends way Colin was a RALLY driver.Thats what we want:)

Re: WRC 2010
Apparently we get older cars, group b, and stages based on real WRC stages, (and gymkhana) and of course f1 2010s weather (gymkhana in the snow ?!)
The important thing is that i can actually buy it not saying i wouldnt buy WRC 2010, it looks like a really nice game.

Re: WRC 2010
The stages themselves will not be based on real WRC stages (Panzerplatte would be awsome though ). Its the countries that the rallies are in.
For example, in Dirt 1, Rally GB was in the Kielder Forest in England. Rally GB in real life is in Wales.

Re: WRC 2010
The only rally game that has ever had accurate real life stages, recreated exactly with real rallies was actually RBR. It had real stages from the Mont Blanc Rally, the Arctic Lapland Rally and the Pirelli International Rally.
Every single rally in that game was a real rally. Rally Canberra had the Mineshaft stage, which is a real one!
Of course, virtual drivers are always braver
and a nice comparison with the Joux Plane stage here.

Re: WRC 2010
I maintain that RBR was the best and most realistic rally sim ever made, the cars sounded spot on and were utterly brutal to drive. A great shame there was never to be any more
Re: WRC 2010
I guess you had to play RBR on the PC with a proper wheel to completely enjoy it.
I know I did on the Xbox, had a lot of fun despite never ever winning a single rally, the game was way too brutal even for a "core gamer" like me.
Still it had much more + than -
There is a little bit of RBR in WRC2010 but driving at 150kmh on gravel is never as dead scary as it was in RBR.
My favourite rally game remains Rallisport Challenge 2.
Got it back a few days ago only to realise it is NOT 360 retro compatible. RSC1 is though, but I wanted to play with the Peugeot 306 Maxi Trophée Andros...
