Jordan to drive Vauxhall Vectra in 2009

19-year-old Andrew Jordan will drive a Vauxhall Vectra in the British Touring Car Championship next year. Team Eurotech are reported to run the car for Jordan in the Independents Trophy.
“This is an unbelievable opportunity. The chance to drive the best Super 2000 car in the BTCC is an awesome opportunity for me and I certainly intend to make the absolute most out of it," said Jordan.

Are people blind? On Top Gear they said that touring car racing isnt as good nowadays.. not true, BTCC today is one of the most spectacular series in the world IMO, provides more action than the WTCC, visits more ballsy tracks and has a fantastic supports package. Theres been some great races in the past few years with plenty of different cars, works supported or not.

I am dissapointed that the FIA didn't addopt the BTCC's BTC-T regs as their new touring car class. IIRC, they were considering it, If they had just adopted the BTCC rules just like they had when supertouring was created in 1994 by Alfa Romeo in the BTCC then the BTCC would still be regarded as the worlds top Touring Car series IMO.

Oh, and a bit of trivia from the early naughties.. BTCC bosses were considering using the new DTM 2000 rule set at the time. Imagine that today..

BTCC was the top tier of touring car racing for years, and then when they changed the rules it became rubbish, and you can't deny that. When the BTCC failed with the new rules then they had to make up new series and revitalize old series to compensate. Nowadays the BTCC is becoming much better than it was and its is now better (imo) than the WTCC and DTM these days. But for the last few years its not been that good compared to the likes of the WTCC.

I hope Vauxhall replace the Vectra in the BTCC with the Insigna someday.
