For some reason I just can't get my head around them running that Audi as front wheel driveSlider S15 wrote:And American Rob Holland is planning a 2 car entry in 2014 in Audi A3 Saloon's:

Re: BTCC 2014
Sound's good to me! RWD just doesn't seem to work well in BTCC, too fragile, too prone to taps from the rear and worst of all just plain slower at most tracks than the FWD's.D4RR3N 3579 wrote:For some reason I just can't get my head around them running that Audi as front wheel driveSlider S15 wrote:And American Rob Holland is planning a 2 car entry in 2014 in Audi A3 Saloon's:

I know Turkington was in contention until the last round and Austin got a win, but the majority of the time RWD just doesn't seem to work to an advantage in BTCC anymore.

30 car grid maybe?

Not sure anyone knows if Dynamics mean ''new 2014 spec Civic'' or ''new new model of car/Civic''.
I've heard rumours of an estate version of the Civic...

Re: BTCC 2014
From the way its worded it's a new model. (Evolving the car isn't really news) They say more details will be revealed next month with the car hitting testing by November.nickyf1 wrote:Not sure anyone knows if Dynamics mean ''new 2014 spec Civic'' or ''new new model of car/Civic''.

To be honest i'd be surprised if its a Civic Estate as there's not really any advantage over the hatch (same aerodynamic short falls but with more overhangs)
All I can really think is an Accord, however an Insight would fit within regs (I think) and offer a much more slippery shape to play with.

Maybe they got fed up with the car constantly setting on fire

HAHAHA sadly I think it will have the same engine, just gotta work out why there's is in fire and Jordan's isn't...MYLES PR0WER wrote:Maybe they got fed up with the car constantly setting on fire
Talking of engine trouble Dan Welch is building a second Proton for 2014 with a new engine after constant problems with the TOCA engine all year...

Re: BTCC 2014
Take note that it hasn't been even a week since the championship ended and allot of this maybe pipe dreams like the NGTC Vauxhall Astra and Skoda Octavia I don't see how Welch can build another new car in a family run team. Also there are 2 Civics up for sale then, Honda seems to enjoy investing in the BTCC, the fact the used the BTCC car in their advert instead of the WTCC car shows that so maybe they'll turn up with something experimental like a CRZ hybrid.

Re: BTCC 2014
Exciting pipe dreams though! lol
With the S2000 cars now extinct there's going to be a lot of teams who either need to buy an NGTC Car, build one of their own or go find somewhere else to race.
So far (to my knowledge) the NGTC 2nd hand market looks something like this:
Neal's Honda Civic
Shedden's Honda Civic
Morgan's Toyota Avensis
With these drivers needing to step up to NGTC for 2014:
Lea Wood
Shaun Hollamby
Liam Griffin
David Nye
So at least one new car will be needed working on the assumption that no outsiders buy any of the available NGTC cars.
We've already heard that there is a Renault Megane in development for a customer car programme as well as Rob Holland building 2 (at least one) Audi A3's.
PLUS The rumoured Kia manufacturer entry (Kia are in talks according to Alan Gow and with Hyundai now committed to WRC a circuit programme for Kia is more likely: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/107004 )

Then seeing what it all boils down to come race day.
Re: BTCC 2014
David Nye is a fun driver same with Liam Griffin people who have earned their fortune and said "I'll do that because I can!" That's why they did the Jack Sears Trophy, to keep out of everyone's way and have a chance at winning something, with that championship gone I don't see them coming back, Lee has a good shot and I think will buy Adams car

Re: BTCC 2014
Very true, with Hyundai now settled into WRC it could open the door for a green light for Kia to have a circuit racing programme.nickyf1 wrote:That Kia rumour's came up every year since nineteen canteen...
Exactly! I'd like to see Jake Hill in the BTCC soon tooMYLES PR0WER wrote:Lets not forget about people like Tom Ingram who could come through into higher teams

Morgan's Toyota Avensis ( Only has one gear left )
With these drivers needing to step up to NGTC for 2014:
Lea Wood ( Stabilisers needed )
Shaun Hollamby ( Good Roll cage needed )
Liam Griffin ( Put the airbags back in )
David Nye ( Come on David, need a wand to go round corners )

Re: BTCC 2014
I also thought we were meant to be getting a Skoda?
Will be interesting to see who takes on the Megane in '14. I can see that being a Thorney 2yr sort of job. A car needs PROPER backing/investment and testing to be competitive in BTCC. The Insigna is only just becoming that in the right hands.

Re: BTCC 2014
The person who was going to drive the skoda couldn't get the money together as the sponsors pulled out.

Re: BTCC 2014
Lea wood is quick Id like to see him in NGTC.
RWD has its tracks were it is quicker, Knockhill and Rockingham to name two.
I read that Honda want to run Jordan but dont have the budget for 3 cars.

I dont want Jordan to go to honda, i like the "underdogs/privateers" and supported his dad in the BTCC and will continue to support him. Hes done great at a family run team so why change it?

How can they not have the budget? They sold 3 customer cars, 2 to Pirtek and 1 to someone else, they have works backing with a major wheel company and battery manufacture sponsoring them.VAMR Wilson wrote:Lea wood is quick Id like to see him in NGTC.

Because they put so much of it into development (Plus they're building new cars for next season for some reason)MYLES PR0WER wrote:How can they not have the budget?
