Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion thread
no no have GT5 and it is [Censored] compared to forza its dull boring and psn network is a pile of poo
Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion thread
GT5's new 2.0 physics are about par with Forza's. But in GT5 it feels dull and bland... Something to do with the camera angle, and the car doesn't feel like it's connected to anything. The sound is terribly poor and doesn't seem like it's changed since GT3. The collisions are still bad; you still bump off of everything, damage on or not.
But the night-cycle is very impressive, as are the pit crews and other animations that Forza lacks. The weather is also fun.
Forza just feels... Better. Shinier, more involved, deeper... Everything about it just feels more polished.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion thread
I used to load up GT5 just to do a race around the ring with the day night cycle for a bit of fun. I wonder if the Spa DLC has that feature. Also the Rally is a good laugh, and it's better than Dirt.
Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion thread
I think GT5 feels the more polished game. It has a much better depth perception and field of view, the camera angles are great, and you somehow get a little more satisfaction from cornering. It's more spring loaded, clicky and well oiled, whereas Forza has a more analogue, rolling feel. But both give decent sensations of weight transfer, tyre loading, traction and resistance. They both feel believable, and that's the key!
Both feel great, and I was pleasantly surprised with the feel of GT5. I'd really like to try it with a wheel.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion thread
One thing that does strike as a +ve for GT5 is the much lower and more reasonable prices for DLC.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion thread
I played a lot of GT5 before I went to the dark side (Xbox) the single player racing is very poor, but it is quite nice to get a car, get a track, put music on & drive. My fondest memories of GT5 were cruising around some tracks. GT5 is a lot better for a variety of championships. Rally, NASCAR, even Formula 1. Just a shame you can't paint the cars

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion thread
New DLC for GT5 today, Twin Ring Motegi for £3.99 and a free Scion FR-S.
Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion thread
Oooo, I was gonna get GT5 back out soon. I would rather buy Spa than Motegi however, but the FR-S is getting downloaded
Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion thread
I'd wait on that mate, the GT86 will no doubt be out soon for us (and having seen the limited TRD version thats debuting at FoS this weekend....phwoar!!!!!!
Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion thread
Didn't the GT86 come with the 2.0 update?
I've definitely got one in my garage. (And it's the only one in my garage, I don't play it too much )

Hmmm, interesting that is. Kind of like the Xbox wireless 'wheel' thing!

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion thread
Ok so the HSV 010 has been released on GT5.... you'd think this would be a time to rejoice and get excited about the game again. Well.... no.
Compare the in game
To the real car...

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion thread
The example of gt5 given above is a bit of a joke.... try this ...
Oh, and turn up to HD if you want to see what it actually looks like

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion thread
It should... They have released the same game twice (without fixing numerous gameplay and coding logic problems around for at least two generations of the game. I would rather have those fixed than the audio retouching that forza does added to gt5, but hey Aero damage is permanent and open wheeled cars are impossible (since FM1) to imiplement... Right?Standaman94 wrote:GT5's new 2.0 physics are about par with Forza's. But in GT5 it feels dull and bland... Polyphony actually has Track DLC for their game.... where's the track DLC for FM4?!?!?!?!?
Yep and no black jettas (though I am curious what a track dlc would look like in FM4. (Maybe just a black screen and engine noises and an instrument panel if you don't own the DLC?) With GT5 you can see DLC content that you don't own and even race multiplayer on it.
I saw mention of a community night, I'm in if anything is ever put together. That said, I'm afraid of what the trolls and true believers would do should anyone here publicize an acknowledgement the GT5 exists. Is the vitriol between some in the two camps of console racers ever going to stop?
Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion thread
If i had enough money, i'd by a playstation just for GT5, sure, the cars don't feel attached and the cars don't sounds right, but i love the day to night change, thousands of cars, heap of tracks, off road and the used car big is good. but, i still love forza, but if i could i get a ps3 with a wheel n id be set

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion thread
I am a fan of the GT series (I actually thank the series for getting me into driving games), I played GT, GT 2 (which was a demo) GT3 and GT4 (I made it up to over 80% of the career). I have tried GT5 and its great.
my only douts are the car noise exaust (they could have being much better), maybe more or all cars with great details and afew other bits and pieces. but thats it.
In a few areas I think forza should learn afew bits from the GT franchase. I was disapointed that the endurances events were removed, I enjoy those.
What I would like to see on the next forza is dirt tracks for rally events, night racing, actual people changing the wheels (the PS2 had it so no excuse for a powerful console), tracks (very dissapointed they should be alot more) and afew other bits and the game is perfect.
One thing though......even if a game is brilliant they won't be as real as real life.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion thread
Well hopefully from Horizon we can see opportunities for growth within the Motorsport side of things.
Night racing, dirt racing, more racing circuits should all be in. I'd be VERY VERY suprised to see a repeat of the 2003 Silverstone we are lumbered with currently.
New Silverstone would give us National, South, Arena and Stowe circuits.
Added to that more US based circuits and we could have something very special.
I'd expect the 'motorsport' aspect to come out in force for FM5

I have heard news that Polyphony digital have begun working already on GT6. with silverstone announced aswell as the barhurst track on GTPlanet. (which I heard that it was on forza motorsport).
also with some of the cars now on horizon, I feel hated, with the road car of the Lancia Delta S4

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Discussion thread
If it's to be believed, they had already begun work on GT6 at least a year ago.
