XBOX 360 Steering Wheel
I was just wondering if anyone knows any websites that you can buy spare parts for the microsoft xbox 360 wireless steering wheel?
Reason I ask is that I am going to do some work on it. I need some new springs for the pedals and I want to insert some thicker springs to give both the pedals to give them a bit more resistance (basically give them a bit more feel) because they feel really soft.
If not, don't worry. I'll see what springs are available on ebay.

You tried putting half a tennis ball behind the pedal?

You may laugh mate but that is the common fix that 99% of the gaming community suggest and use. It apparently works wonders.

Re: XBOX 360 Steering Wheel
Oooh, half a tennis ball might not be a bad idea for the brake pedal
Any way to stop the extremely loud squeaking the pedals and gear paddles make after a while?

Re: XBOX 360 Steering Wheel
I have been trying to find ways to make a make-shift gear shifter for a while, but simply dont have the right materials to make one..
One of my ideas is having a pivot point on the steering column, with a shaft that runs from one side of the wheel to the other behind the paddles. Using some springs and some stoppers, you could get the shaft to touch the paddles and press them in, then its just a case of putting a knob at the end
And I do realise how many male sexual organ references I made there

I was on my way to replying "Huhuh, he said shaft, and knob"
Freud would have a field day with that post though

I didn't realise. I thought troff was joking about it.
I tried putting half a tennis ball behind the pedals but it doesn't fit. Maybe it needs to be less than half a tennis ball on each pedal; I don't know.

Re: XBOX 360 Steering Wheel
Just trim it down a touch and it'll be fine. You could use some foam on the accelerator...or whatever works best for you.

Re: XBOX 360 Steering Wheel
You would be wanting more resistance on the brake pedal than the throttle pedal for a more realistic feel.

Its both pedals I'm having difficulty with nicky not just the brakes. Tennis ball didn't work for me so I'm just trying some sponges.

Re: XBOX 360 Steering Wheel
I have a general dislike to the 360 steering wheel. I stopped the squeaking of the pedals by removing the base place and coating the mechanical links with some WD 40. Did the trick. My wheel has broken on the point where the wheel enter the case and it wobbles. Its very annoying but I don't want to take it to bits incase all the parts fall out. It's a cheaply made product that isn't worth £70
Re: XBOX 360 Steering Wheel
yeah, i hear from a couple of guys on my Friends List putting a sponge under their pedals, and trimming it down to where they are comfortable with it.

Re: XBOX 360 Steering Wheel
Sorry to epic-bump but It's kind of apt that Shift 2 Unleashed appears to be much better with the wheel.

Re: XBOX 360 Steering Wheel
ADx, that is an absolute huge nay. Did you not watch the video I posted. This game is terrible on a wheel. The forums on Need for Speed's website are chuck full of people that are sending it back because of it. It's beyond awful and gets worse the faster the cars get. Magictap is the only wheel user I know that doesn't have an issue
Re: XBOX 360 Steering Wheel
If you have never had a Force Feedback wheel before, yay.
I love having the wheel, even if it is somewhat junk. Beats a controller by miles.

Its the Leyton House of steering wheels. The Microsoft wheel is more like a Toyota F1

yes but Toyota F1 was 7 years of promise, spending millions upon millions of dollars for nothing but one pole position in return!
