Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Now on Enna doing the BMW 135 "Touring Car" championship, AI cars are beeching themselfs on the chicanes.
No yellow flags, no warning from your engineer.
And the other AI cars seem to just pile into them.

What game has engineers and yellow flags? I don't ever recall that in Forza either?

F1 2010, most pc sims have the flag rules... I know it sounds stupid but the cars were immobile and on the racing line, surely there'd be some kind of warning...
...or maybe your supposed to drive straight into them...

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Live looks like it ought to be doable with 12 person lobbies in GT1. Just had a quick look at that.
Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Yeah, but it has Rouen and a version of Monza set in the past in it, it looks very good indeed

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
After playing this game for a few days, I have to say that it really sucks. It had/has the potential to be a good game, but its not. Shift 2 combines all of the problems that other racing games have into one concise little package.
The career has a ton of stupid races that I have no interest whatsoever in doing just like Forza.
The AIs' idea of passing you is to crash into you, and that's only if they don't manage to take you out in the first corner. Like GT5 and some of the AIs in Forza.
If they AI crash, they usually get stuck and sit there in the way for the rest of the race. Like Forza.
The AI is also the worst example of rubberband AI I have EVER seen.
The narrator (Vaughn Gitten Jr?) is quite possible the most annoying member of the human race that has ever lived. Even if everything else in the game was perfect, him talking would still make this game suck. Just like all of the NFS games.
And lastly, this might just be a glitch or something because this game was supposed to sound great, but my BMW Z4 sounds like a hamster breathing through a straw. Its so quite that if any AI car is within about 100 yards from me, I cannot hear my own engine. Not that it matters though because there is no variance in the sound as the engine revs. Its just a constant hum. That makes it impossible to tell when to shift by listening, and since 4000% of my attention has to be spent on steering the car and not constantly over correcting, I can't also watch the tach on the HUD.
edit: This is unbelievable. 3 times in a row this has now happened. I am firmly in 2nd place going into the first corner at some race at Miami, and the guy in 3rd smashes into me and we end up taking out everyone behind us, and the guy in 1st is the only one in the race with all 4 wheels still on his car.

....just wait til you see the silent movie version. I want to kick that guy in the throat.
Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Didn't think I'd ever get pissed off this much with a racing game, but im not as unimpressed as I was with test drive vanity and whores 2. Graphically yes its good, trying to keep the car in a straight line makes you feel stupid, which clearly should'nt happen to seasoned "pro"s like us.
I'm thinking this Is better with a wheel, but then there are some of you on here who disagree.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
there has to be SOMETHING to do with the settings.
entry/middle/exit of corner is just completely uncontrollable on the analog stick for me.
i find myself not even braking and just throwing the car into the corner and it sticks...but when i brake and try to line up the apex, the car just understeers on entry and then oversteers on exit.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
What general said and the wheel is worse. Braking means either coming to a complete stop or missing altogether andmashing a wall the straight line stuff is murdering me. Once it hits the force feedback and it tries to pull back the car will snap and so do I. The more I play the game the more I like it but at the same time the more I hate it. It has moments of greatness then all of a sudden I'm mad enough to club a baby seal.
I get so mad because they made a racing game. The one thing to get right is driving the car!! Just that and your 90% home! Its like making a damn shooting game where your gun misfires half the time. I don't get it. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Just done the 'endurance race' at Road America..... WHAT FUN!!!!!
Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
I think the sterring/throttle issue is down to modulation. I'm simply not finding this problem. But then I've always steered on the weight distribution

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Steering Deadzone to 0% has made the driving "easier".
In fact, craner curves in an exige is a lot less evil, no overdosing on overcorrections now.
Why didnt they leave it like this in the first place.
