Re: Battlefield 3 Fall 2011
Wow. I've played it all night. Right wrist and hand is dead and numb.
Managed to get very very very good tonight, BF3 requires much faster reactions and lots of thought before you make a move. Running into open space, whether that be to get to another door or a bit of cover, will get you killed.
May I suggest using the sniper rifle, but taking the scope off. Its a brilliant close range weapon!

Re: Battlefield 3 Fall 2011
Managed to crawl my way up to the top of the leaderboards in a few games. (Quite literally crawl!)
Simply epic... Especially when defending the third base. The entire team is lying down on their front around corners or at the top of the escalators, or in different rooms, all pointing at the escalators, waiting for the hordes of reds to come rushing in. Its tense!

Oh. My. God. Just played the PC Beta with settings maxed out. the graphics, the sounds, the gameplay is just pure perfection. Comparing it to the Xbox version is like night and day, I don't even know if I will bother with it on the Xbox now. I am so excited for this.

Re: Battlefield 3 Fall 2011
I'm happy enough with the Xbox version. The PC was always going to look much better anyway.
Apparently the graphics were turned down to fit the 1.3 gb file size for the beta.

+1 Nicky.
And with the cars (my real ones) costing me a fortune this month, a new PC is a long way away.
360 for me.

Re: Battlefield 3 Fall 2011
Anyone intending to get this for xbox on release this week? Might tempt me into buying it sooner rather than later (will definitely be a purchase at some point either way).
Re: Battlefield 3 Fall 2011
I am, but I fear the PC version will just overshadow it for me.
After the beta a few of my mates have cancelled their pre-orders.

Re: Battlefield 3 Fall 2011
I am still hoping they adjust the radar via a patch, because I feel having you show up on the map for firing an un-supressed weapon will not help the series out. Unless they tweak it, so the lone wolves can only have it as an option in TDM or SDM only.
While leaving it out of conquest and Rush, because people can use their eyes and ears to try and track down the gun fire. As well as hoping, their team use's the spot button.

Your next on my tag list, because I already got Tubi's and Butchers tags in Bad Company 2.Matt wrote:I'll be picking it up, funds allowing. Cant wait. Really got into BFBC2
Is it because their PC's can't run it on medium at the least, or is it because they play another type of first person shooter on a regular basis.Richy wrote:I am, but I fear the PC version will just overshadow it for me.

Re: Battlefield 3 Fall 2011
We got the stock of Battlefield 3 in at work today, and on the back there is an advisory stating that the game needs 2gb of HDD space to install an 'optional graphics upgrade.'
So perhaps the graphics of the beta are not representative of the final game with this upgrade installed.

Re: Battlefield 3 Fall 2011
There is a second Disk in the Xbox version that comes with an optional 'High-Res Texture Update' which means the game installed to the HDD with the update will look significantly better.
It is optional, so people without large HDDs can play the same game but with low-res textures.

Re: Battlefield 3 Fall 2011
Seeing as I'm getting it for FREE I'll be picking this up from Gamestation tonight. It's literally feet from my door so how could I not really

That's a surprising and exceptionally good idea. Well done DICE!

I thought that had already been established?

Re: Battlefield 3 Fall 2011
Yeh, I finished the Tehran mission before going out last night (Mission 3 I believe) and have to say I'm deeply impressed.....and everyone else in the house is deeply unimpressed with the sound - seeing as I have it on the "War Tapes" sound setting, and my surround cranked up to 11!

Just WOW...
Indeed - even the "tutorial" mission had me "wowing". Will be online for some gratuitous man-shooty action later should you so desire to join in the carnage.

Re: Battlefield 3 Fall 2011
Not played multiplayer yet, but the singleplayer campaign thus far has been excellent. Loved every bit of the airstrike mission, although I kinda wish there had been more control over the F-18. And the graphics are lovely. The night attack in Tehran was just sumptious with the flares, gunfire, and moonlight, et al.
I fear the way it's going though that the BF3 and MW3 stories are going to be somewhat similar...
