Re: Rfactor test session
I was trying to get these mods working but I haven't installed a PC mods in years and was having a total brain fart trying to figure out how to do it. Help?
Re: Rfactor test session
Most of them are simply uninstalling to your route directory. What are you putting on?

Re: Rfactor test session
Hey Richy,
You need to install latest version of rfactor, once installed download mods from sites listed.
Oncer downloaded extract to your rfacor directory (winzip or similar zip programme works), the mods should automatically install to the correct locations.
If they dont open the Rfactor route directory (right click on Rfactor icon) and select find target this will display the route directory of rfactor.
Once opened the Rfactor directory open the location of where you downloaded the mods too (keeping the rfactor directory open) then transfer the mods accross either by coying pasting or dragging the mods to the route directory.
for example BTCC data file will be transfered as a whole folder from your downloaded mod to the rfacor location.
Once complete load rfactor, once loaded you can select the mods from the driver profile section, note VLN mod requires GTR evoultion to work.
Any problems let me know.
Cheers

Re: Rfactor test session
I'll be running a session again tonight. I can't convey how epic our race was round Donnington last night. Just watched the replay again. Matt was struggling with his Lacetti, mostly down to controller setup, but hopefully he'll get that sorted out with the advice we gave him. But Duncan and I had a wonderful race up front.
We were running nose to tail for the first seven laps, when Duncan spun his BMW at the Old Hairpin. I slowed to wait on him, and the AI caught up with us (they hadn't been that far away all race), only for Dan Eaves to crunch Duncan while he recovered. I kept going, trying not to lose track position, but I got swarmed by the AI as I tried to back them up along the back straight, got into a tank slapper, and put my Toledo into the wall.
I recovered back into about 6th, Matt was in 7th and Duncan 8th, and we charged through the last two laps. Matt unfortunately spun out and finished last, but Duncan and I got back to the lead as we went on to the back straight. My Toledo had the legs on him and pulled a gap, but I had been braking early for the last chicane all race, and Duncan had been closing on me there, the BMW being much better with it's brakes.
And that's where Duncan got cheeky. With the chicane and a sprint to the flag all that was left, he threw the car up the inside into the corner as I turned in on the racing line. We connected, and bounced off each other, but my line and speed had been compromised even though I was still in front. We both put the hammer down and gunned it for the line, with Duncan getting neck and neck.
I took the win by .026 of a second. I cannot convey just how good the race was, from the fight at the front, losing positions, then fighting through the field for it to be decided by less that 3 hundredths of a second. Defending lines, friendly taps, flashing lights to intimidate the opposition. Fanstastic fun!

Re: Rfactor test session
Tonight's chosen track is Adria. At 1.6 miles in length, it is not the biggest track, but the technical nature of the track means that car setup is vital. A decent lap for an S2000 touring car would be in the region of 1.23.500.
http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Adria
We will be running the BTCC 2009 mod again tonight. The link for this is above for those who wish to join in.
I am aiming for roughly 9.30pm to kick this off, and will post my IP around that time for those wishing to join. Entries will be accepted during the 20 minute practice session, after which the lobby will close and qualifying will begin. After the 10 minute qualifying is completed, we will skip warm-up and go straight to the ten lap race.
If enough people enter, we will run without AI. Otherwise, AI running at 95% strength will be added to make up the field.

8pm Thursday night for the next session.
Adria deffo this time, and should have two more players, trained up my brother and my mate, they are hooked now, so probably won't bother with AI.

Adria will be launching at 8pm. Got three players confirmed, so the more we get the merrier.
Will be looking at running this with full damage on too.

Re: Rfactor test session
I have the following:
Cars
F1-S-R 1993
Touring Car Legends Base Pack
OSRM V8 Factor Unleashed Base Pack
ISI BMW Sauber F1
BTCC 2009
Tracks
Knockhill
Croft
Oulton Park
Silverstone
Brands Hatch
Thruxton
Snetterton
Bathurst (ORSM) 2005/2006
Spa-Francorchamps 1990
We may need to get another wee test session going at some point, dispite me being on the Keyboard still.
Might see if I can borrow a mates wired controller before I get the adapter.

Re: Rfactor test session
Pretty cheap too. Around £15/£20. I've never looked for one in the shops before though, i'll need to have a look around next week.
Having some laptop overheating problems as of late. Deleted 10GB worth of pointless stuff last night after it went into safe mode.. games, Maths notes/past papers, Physics notes/past papers, stupid photos and videos of nights out and loads of pointless novelty programmes I have downloaded in the past year. Then defragmented the whole thing.
Now i've got my laptop leaning on a few things to get some air flowing under it. Its working well now, so long as I keep rFactor down at its lowest graphical levels and keep my power plan to a low setting while being plugged in.
I've had some bad experiences with computers in the past. I remember setting a PC on fire while playing GP3

Re: Rfactor test session
God, the music in the BTCC 2009 menus is horrible.
I have to on-purpose open the game up with F1-S-R (which has classic Murray Walker commentary as its background sounds) and then load the BTCC cars from there.
Its extremely easy to install these mods. With GPL you are always messing around with installers and locating their files in GEM (a special front-end to handle GPL mods)...

Re: Rfactor test session
Lol just delete the BTCC music file in the folder structure. Re: buying an adapter; you may have trouble finding one in a shop now, but I got mine from Amazon for £15 no problem.
Re: Rfactor test session
Good good. Do you use a pad or a wheel with it?
I'd like to know if the FFB works with the wheel.

Re: Rfactor test session
I have had a wireless adapter for ages and as I have said many times, the FFB doesn't work using the wheel. Rumble works with the controller if its a Game for Windows.
