Should be interesting to see how things play out between Strakka and RML, with one on Michelins and the other on Dunlops.

Re: 24 Heures Du Mans 11-12 Juin 2011
Cant wait, should be a cracker. Less than a week and should be en route to La Sarthe. FWIW im going to go for:
LMP1: #8 Peugeot 908 - British win for A Davidson.
LMP2: #42 Strakka Racing - Should be a very competative class.
GTPro: #51 AF Corse Ferrari 458.
GTAm: #50 Labre Corvette - Jan Magnussen and Oli Beretta plenty of experience there.
A quick plug for Martin Rich's (#64 Lotus Evora driver) charity this year. https://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/LeMansMacmillan It may be a little late to get your name / logo on the car but its still a great cause and effort from Martin.

Re: 24 Heures Du Mans 11-12 Juin 2011
Well that Lizard livery looks like a pretty easy one to recreate in Forza....
Magnussen and Beretta are driving the factory Vettes, not the Labre one.
My picks:
LMP1: #3 Audi, can't really see McNish getting outrun by the 908s if he actually has a car on the pace this year.
LMP2: Strakka, really hope its them, but I'm still afraid that the ACO overly nerfed the HPD.
GTPro: #74 Corvette, stronger of the two Corvettes imo and if they can get a clean run, I won't be surprised if they run away with it.
GTAm: Krohn Racing, this is a complete toss up as none of these entries seem to be a favorite, but I'll go with the Risi satellite team.

Re: 24 Heures Du Mans 11-12 Juin 2011
Ooooh Le Mans predictions.
LMP1: #3 Audi R18 - McNish, Capello and Kristensen, dream team in a very quick car and i can see them really taking the fight to the Pug.
LMP2: #26 Oreca Nissan - A very quick car with the best engine, i can see them with good reliability walking it!
GTPro: #66 JMW Ferrari 458 - 0ut paced AF Corsa in the LMS this year and have a fantastic driver line up.
GTAm: #70 Labre Competition Porsche - The team have been running the car for multiple seasons now and know it inside out with a decent line up!

Re: 24 Heures Du Mans 11-12 Juin 2011
imagine how they are gonna look after 24 hours.
carbon fiber all scuffed up. bugs all over the winshield and front ends and headlights.
dents, scrapes, aero bits missing...
love that look. i feel like it gives the car so much character.

LMP1: #8 Peugeot 908 - Still think they will give Audi a run for there money
LMP2 I am split between - 42 Strakka Racing HPD ARX-01d M & 26 Signatech Nissan Oreca 03-Nissan D
GTPro: 1 of the BMW Motorsport BMW M3 GT2 D or 51 AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia GTC M, BMW ran much slower times at SPA, there true straight line speed is much greater than last year though AF corse look really strong
GT pro is where that battle is at
LM GTE Am: Larbre Compétition Porsche 997 GT3-RSR M
I cant wait

Re: 24 Heures Du Mans 11-12 Juin 2011
I have tad bit of a problem:
Aer Lingus MAY be striking, if so then I have no flight to Le Mans. There are options though:
Air France-more expensive but you get there and in style
Ferry from dublin to hollyhead then train from Hollyhead to London, eurostar to paris, paris then CDG Paris and then TGV to Le Mans.
or City jet from dublin to London city then eurostar and tgv.
what shall I do if it takes place?!?! Arrragggh!

Re: 24 Heures Du Mans 11-12 Juin 2011
My predictions...
LMP1 - The Audi with McNish in it. (He's my hero)
LMP2 - I think Signatch Nissan takes it.
GT Pro - This is hard to say, but one of the Corvettes will take it.
GT AM - Ferbylmeyer, sorry may have spelled it wrong.

Re: 24 Heures Du Mans 11-12 Juin 2011
Corvette, Lizards, Lotus, Jota, and Hankook all look good in GT, but the rest seem kind of unimaginative to me.
The Strakka and Oreca Nissan are good looking too, but the rest of the LMP field is pretty ugly imo. I can't decide which car is worse looking, the R18 or the AMR-One.

the JMW Ferrai should look good, although they had a major flaw in their competition where someone kept on making accounts to vote for themselves and down rate others. But some of the designs on there looked great.

Andy Blackmore's spotters guides are now available. Love the amount of Nissan powered LMP2 cars, especially the livery of the Signatech one
The new Aston GT livery and Porka Lizards liveries look awesome as well. Can't wait to see the Jet Alliance Evoras in the flesh, they are gonna look incredible.

Re: 24 Heures Du Mans 11-12 Juin 2011
Listening to the RLM LMP1 preview, and it seems like the general consensus is that none of the factory cars have proved reliable enough for this years race to be the all out sprint that the last few years have been.
The possible exception is the Oreca car, which barring the issues Peugeot had last year, should be very very quick.
My question is if you were either Audi or Peugeot, would you sacrifice one of you cars to be a rabbit to try to break the other team on pace? Both teams have the drivers that could do this, Peugeot probably more so than Audi with their flock of ex F1 pilots.
Based on the results from the Le Mans Test Day, the R18 looked like the faster of the two diesels, and probably still had enough in reserve to come near last year's pace if what the RLM guys said is to be believed. So would you as Audi tell the #1 car to go for broke and run flat out, or as Peugeot tell the #7 car to do the same?
Or, if you were Peugeot, would you risk getting beat by your customer team and let the Oreca 908 run as fast as it can in the hopes that the Audis will grind to a halt chasing it and then the Oreca itself will hit troubles leaving the victory for one of the factory 908s?
What's really sad about this though is that if none of the diesels are running flat out, Highcroft would have been more than capable of running at the same pace and we would have had a non diesel fighting for a win.

Re: 24 Heures Du Mans 11-12 Juin 2011
I think the thing that's really sad is that after 5 years the Aco still haven't got petrol diesel equivalency right! Either get them equivalent or get everyone back on petrol I say! Hopefully the 7 diesels can crash at the first corner and then we can have the petrol cars completing the race!
