Re: PC Gaming
I wouldn't mind, I've got a G930 headset as well so I can do VOIP. Is it in game speak or so I need something like XFire? (if Xfire still exists :S)
Re: PC Gaming
I use Mumble for project reality mod, transforms fps games adds so you can hear enemy talking when they are close, adds abilty to chat to any 1 in a location but skype is fine

Re: PC Gaming
I might be able to, though Friday is the only night off I have this week, so may just be comatose! Will keep you informed. Could just use Teamspeak.
Re: PC Gaming
I thought if it was a clan match then there would be a few more than just us in it. I think Skype is a bit bandwidth intensive for gaming though, if you can get a program let me know and I'll install it on the Friday.
Re: PC Gaming
Yea use Teamspeak ok to use
Yea few mates on BF2 Project reality but will stick with BF3, need some more TORA recruits

Re: PC Gaming
I need some advice because I don't know much about p.c's.
I'm gonna replace my laptop at the end of this year but I'm not sure whether it'll be a pc or a desktop. I would like to use it for gaming, particularly from the reactions from Duncan and Richard about how Battlefield 3 on the PC blitzes the xbox version. Would a laptop be perfectly capable of playing games with ease or would I need a proper desktop/gaming computer? Or does it obviously depend on what your budget is? I'm hoping to spend quite a bit on one but I'm not sure as of yet.

Re: PC Gaming
If you want to play games like Battlefeild or Skyrim then your going to have to go for a dedicated desktop unless you want to start going down the high end gaming laptops which run at similar prices to higher end desktops.
I bought an Dell XPS a few years ago when I started working and the idea was that I would be able to take it with me and play some games wherever I was. It was quite expensive and was claimed to be able to play the latest games. I managed to get Fallout 3 to play on it at the lowest of low details I could select and it just looked terrible, and even then the game didn't play smoothly. The only games that ever worked well on it were the older RTS games like Command and Conquer so I've been put off using Laptops for gaming since then.
If you were able to go crazy you could get an overpriced Alienware laptop, but even although they will play the likes of BF3 it's just not worth it when you can get a desktop with better specs for half the price. Duncan should have a good idea about the latest prices and specs you can get for a set amount of money.

Re: PC Gaming
If you want a cheaper computer what you should do is find out the specs and equipment that you want, then visit a custom build website like Overclockers UK or Cyberpower. They can make the same PC that you can find in the shops for a bit cheaper and its basically hand built.
However, my last two PCs have been custom built and I've had a few niggles with them and you don't have the luxury of a 3-5 year warranty on them, so there are pros and cons to having a one custom built.

Re: PC Gaming
Chris pointed me towards Novatech for a Gaming PC. Ive noticed that the Intel i7 PCs are way more money on Overclockers than Novatech. Im looking at 2xHDD drives (1 x 128GB SSD, 1x 1TB HDD) Intel i7 3770 processer, 8GB DDR memory & Nvidia GEFORCE GTX 560 Ti Graphics to run IRacing/Rfactor/Simraceway.
But i need (more) help about which wheel to get. Is the Thrustmaster RGT any good? It has a clutch but it seems rather cheap...
Im leaning more towards the Logitech G27 as the Thrustmaster T500 RS is way too much!

Re: PC Gaming
G27, steer away from the Thrustmaster. The T500 is very good, but the G27 is much better. For the money though you are better getting a standard Fanatec CSR, and use it on both Xbox and PC. It's as good as the G27.
Thats quite a powerful PC just to run iRacing tbh, although it will be smooth. iRacing isn't that intensive.

Re: PC Gaming
Because i am in the Army, and have to travel a lot on courses and on Operations i had a Laptop. I spent £700 on a Toshiba Satellite, v good it played all the latest games and is still going strong now. My son plays Skyrim, DayZ (oh and if you have ArmA2 with OA then get the DayZ mod, its effin eppic as a zombie survival sim), and all the new games. He has to adjust the settings but its good enough.
I on the other hand went to an online website and got myself a gaming PC
Case - InWIN MANA-136 BLACK GAMING CASE
Processor (CPU) - AMD PHENOM II X4 955 (3.20GHz/8MB CACHE/AM3) - BLACK EDITION
Motherboard - ASUS® M5A87: AM3+ PLATFORM, DUAL DDR3,SATA 6.0GB/s, USB 3.0
Memory (RAM) - 4GB SAMSUNG DDR3 DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (2 X 2GB)
Graphics Card - 1GB AMD RADEON™ HD6850 - 2 DVI,HDMI, DP - DX® 11, Eyefinity 3 Capable
Hard Disk - 500GB SERIAL ATA 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (7,200rpm)DVD - 24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
Power Supply - 450W Quiet 80 PLUS Dual Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan (£29)
Cooling - SUPER QUIET 22dBA TRIPLE COPPER HEATPIPE CPU COOLER (£19)
Sound Card - ONBOARD 8 CHANNEL (7.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Op System - Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit - inc DVD & Licence (£79)
https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ - they give 3 year warranty as well.
It needs to be updated in a few areas like memory and a better sound card, but other than that it plays every game i have including Skyrim, F1 2011, MW3 all at their highest setting with no probs at all. playing Skyrim on eyefinity with my 3 32" TV's is epic.
Dont think i will ever go back to laptops again, and the most important thing about a desktop is you can upgrade as the games get more demanding, wait for Crysis 3, not going to be able to play that game on anyh old PC.

Re: PC Gaming
I just got myself a Fanatec CSR and CSR Pedals, and somebody has just made a mod, FANALEDS, that uses the LED display to show your speed/gear/laps etc. of course only on the PC as microsoft dont allow mods on xbox. its realy cool on F1 2011 seeing your speed on the wheel. If you have the CSR elite wheel the LED lights work as well.
