Campaign for Shift 2 patch V1.03
Apparently there is a patch V1.03 on it's way for Shift 2.
http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=251514
It's been a long time coming, and I'm now a little worried the EA might have delayed or even shelved the update (Although I have no evidence for this, other than the amount of time it's taken for it to appear) Its worth noting that it costs EA to submit a patch to Microsoft for testing and release on XBL.
I've been tweeting @needforspeed and I've had some success with them replying to me. If you are a fan of the game, I encourage you to tweet @needforspeed and (politely) remind them that we are all looking forward to the patch.
It might sound like a waste of time, but it does seem like the Need for Speed guys really do listen to the community.
I know that Shift 2 is a bit of an acquired taste, but I raced in my first TORA GT1 races last night and they were a lot of fun. However, it would have been a lot more fun with a few more bugs fixed (primarily collision detection).
I would hate to think that Shift 2 turned into another Race Pro and we end up anticipating a patch that will never happen.
Hope I can count on your support!

Race Pro's pretty awesome now compared to how it was, there's a few little invisible walls on street tracks but that's it!

Re: Campaign for Shift 2 patch V1.03
OK, Race Pro is better. It had a couple of updates that made a big difference.
But there was supposed to be one more patch that would have sorted out some the remaining bugs (like the one where cars seem to glitch from one place on the track to another, which was still there last time I played a few months ago).
I absolutely loved RP and I was a regular on the Atari forums (TOCAfan), but there were licensing problems (Atari split with Simbin) and I believe that is why no further updates were released.
Honestly, I am not attacking RP. I waited so long for that game and when it arrived, I played it to death. It still handles better than pretty much any racer I've played on consoles and will always be in my top 5 racers of all time, if not the top 3.
None of that matters now. I have no beef with RP. I just want support with trying to get EA to patch a game that has a lot of potential left in it, if it only had a few bugs addressed.
If anyone feels the same way, please tweet @NeedforSpeed and let them know.

Well tweet how much fun you had with TORA's series and we'll start tweeting Andy Tudor and NFS about it
I'd like to know why on earth it couldn't handle 12 people in a lobby too!

Re: Campaign for Shift 2 patch V1.03
I'm astonished that a racing game that you can not currently have close racing in on-line as flaws exist they have identified and fixed in a patch for one platform can be allowed to happen without punishment!!!
Basically, it's broken, and it's admitted it is, or why would it be patched!!
I am thinking of start a webpage for disgruntled gamers of all platforms to come together and hire lawyers to file suits against these cowboys. VERY VERY annoyed right now.

Be grateful you are not playing this game on PS3. It's way more broken than the 360 version.
I know that's not the point.
For what it's worth, the way to get these guys to do anything is to be nice to them. They get shouted at so often they must be immune to it.
A positive campaign is the way to go. I get the feeling that they came clean with me because I was respectful to them.

Re: Campaign for Shift 2 patch V1.03
I totally disagree. Don't get me wrong. I don't directly blame the developers and staff of these game publishing companies. But these companies which have for the last few years moved so far away from releasing complete properly tested games are starting to ruin the industry.
These companies need to be held to account and punished financially enough to warrant a change in corporate strategy away from racing out games to unrealistic dead lines then attempting to catchup with patches. This can't and shouldn't be allowed to continue in the same vane. End of.

Re: Campaign for Shift 2 patch V1.03
Seeing as the patch is released for othr platforms already that's disgraceful. But of course MS charge them for patches sooooo if EA/NFS don't want to spend any money then why would/should they? Regardless of the customer gaming experience. I was kind of disappointed with the reaction to us from Andy Tudor, referring to us as 'a dying breed'. If that's the attitude devs have towards the more loyal members of the racing communities who are actively promoting FOR FREE their games and products then I am concerned for the future of racing games as a genuine representation of the real genre. If EA think it's all nitro boost, giant screens and grafitti on the race track they are sorely mistaken and need to actually visit a race track. Makes you wonder how much of the racing the execs actually bother to watch when they have cars running at some of the best events in the racing world!

Another fail by EA and lack of devlopment in the 1st place
Looks like my copy of shift 2 will be traded in soon

Re: Campaign for Shift 2 patch V1.03
Don't get me wrong I still enjoy the game but I feel let down by EA (again!) that they simply don't want to support the game and the community.

To this I'd say it should be required. They release a fault product and made money from it. Until it's fixed why on earth should they not spend some of the profit?

Anyone tweeted your displeasure at EA's lack of game support yet?
You gotta let them know. We already know how angry we are!

Re: Campaign for Shift 2 patch V1.03
hmm.... i probably should have waited a day or two to trade in NASCAR 2011 towards my Pre-order of the FM4 LCE, to add Shift 2 to the list of trade ins.
No Patch = No Play. its that simple to me if a supossed patch was planned to be released, then canned

Re: Campaign for Shift 2 patch V1.03
Why, indeed.
You just know that they are sitting on the patch and it's probably a financial descision not to release. That's what makes it so annoying.
I don't think SMS are to blame for non-release as they said it was finished and with EA.
Still, not long to wait for FM4 and F1 2011.
