Re: Touring Cars in 2012 and beyond.
Don't think so Richy. Certainly the years I was watching it they ran proper boxes.
Good to see about Tilletts TCR test. I have a friend of mine (well Steph really) who's moving from the Fiesta Cup into Clios. Possibly running two cars I hear.

Re: Touring Cars in 2012 and beyond.
STCC and V8 Supercars were running numbers in their windows long before the BTCC.

Would they compete with the GTR? Or at least make the car look like the GTR? I know there an historical basis for that, but they've marketed the R35 GTR as a Porsche competitor, not as a Ford/Holden competitor. Wouldn't that be like Porsche joining NASCAR?

I don't think they've decided yet and i don't think the GTR fits in with the production based rules for the V8 Supercars as the production cars have to be V8 RWD cars and the GTR's AWD, but that's the only car i can see them actually using and at the press conference for the announcement they had a GTR on stage so it could happen hopefully!

They are expected to use the Nissan Altima, not the GTR.

Re: Touring Cars in 2012 and beyond.
Just had a thought there. The Aussie V8's use Sydney's Olympic park for the Telstra 500. Imagine some sort of ''Stratford Superprix'' at the London Olympic park

Re: Touring Cars in 2012 and beyond.
Add Saab to the list of cars in TTA. That thing looks brilliant..

I thought Saab no longer existed?

Re: Touring Cars in 2012 and beyond.
Still, wouldn't that be like starting the Pontiac F1 Team? (which would be awesome btw)

Re: Touring Cars in 2012 and beyond.
Not entirely.
Saab is still very popular in Sweden, and there are still Saab dealers out there. This effort will probably be branded as the Saab Dealer Team.
And, the team probably decided to use the Saab before the current mess they've got themselves into.

Re: Touring Cars in 2012 and beyond.
Dunno if anyone noticed, but Knockhill has been granted the licence it requires to run the track in reverse. Alan Gow has said they'll certainly look at it in the future.
Can just imagine a full NGTC grid heading into the turn 1 hairpin - pure chaos!

Re: Touring Cars in 2012 and beyond.
I noticed ages ago , but wouldnt they have to provide adequate run-off at Hatchetts hairpin?

Re: Touring Cars in 2012 and beyond.
I believe the track has been altered in order to get the MSA licence.

Re: Touring Cars in 2012 and beyond.
Some of those turns are going to be very difficult to get around, several blind apex.

Re: Touring Cars in 2012 and beyond.
Wow, that would be very interesting..
I'm not sure much has to be done run-off wise, apart from the exit of the reverse-Duffus Dip (or Duffus Crest?).
I've never heard of circuits being able to run in reverse before. I guess Knockhill has the advantage in that there are no armco 'folds' for marshalls like there are at most other circuits, which would not allow for reverse running.

Re: Touring Cars in 2012 and beyond.
TTA reveals their cars for the inaugural 2012 season.
http://www.touringcartimes.com/article.php?id=7499
I have to say, I am massively impressed. I was disappointed the STCC split the way it did over NGTC, and even moreso that the TTA went the way of Solution F, but those cars look fantastic.
Must now paint that Volvo and SAAB in Forza!
