2012 Blancpain Endurance Series
The Blancpain Endurance Series has unveiled its 2012 calendar.
The pan-European endurance championship will take in six rounds, with five venues announced and a yet-to-be-confirmed season closer.
The championship opens at Italian GP circuit Monza before travelling to Silverstone and Paul Ricard. Round four represents the series' blue riband event as Blancpain again plays host to the 24 Hours of Spa at the iconic Belgian venue.
The penultimate round takes place at the Nurburgring before an unconfirmed season-closer in October. All events bar Spa will be 3-hour contests.
The series will be supported by the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo at all six rounds whilst the Blancpain Revival Series will be held at five circuits: Monza, Silverstone, Paul Ricard, Nurburgring and one TBC. The Revival Series will be reserved for GT cars that raced between 1994 and 2004.
British F3 will also join the support bill at Monza, Paul Ricard and Spa.
"2011 was a hugely successful first year for the Blancpain Endurance Series," commented Stephane Ratel, CEO of the organisers SRO Motorsports. "We’ve looked at what worked, changed some of the things that didn’t, and with new circuits, more cars and more racing we are confident that 2012 will be even better.
“The choice of circuits for the 2012 calendar was crucial as the teams and drivers want to race on the best circuits. And they don’t get much better than Monza, Silverstone, Paul Ricard, Spa-Francorchamps and the Nurburgring.
“We’ve already received interest from over 70 cars for the 2012 Blancpain Endurance Series, so we will have larger grids at each of the events this year.
Round 1 April 14th – 15th Monza, Italy
Round 2 June 2nd – 3rd Silverstone, UK
Round 3 June 29th – July 1st Paul Ricard, France
Round 4 July 25th – 29th Total 24 Hours of Spa, Belgium
Round 5 September 22nd – 23rd Nürburgring, Germany
Round 6 October TBC

3 Hour races in Europe, with a 24 Hour race at Spa... It wasn't too long ago that the FIA GT series itself had this format... Ahhh, bring back the LG Super Racing Weekend!

Re: 2012 Blancpain Endurance Series
It's a newer version of the GT Revival series SRO ran as a support to the FIA GTs back in the late 00's.
It does give a home for cars like the MC12, Ferrari 575, Saleen S7 and Viper. So if you LOVED the FIA GTs back in say, 2006-7 when GTR and GTR2 were championing the series then you'll probably love these.
And I get to marshal it
