TORA Super Saloon Car Championship
This was an idea I had a couple months ago, and after working on it and deliberating on what cars to include, it's finally finished. This was the result.
Similarly to Australia's V8 Supercar championship, this championship is meant for super-powerful saloon cars which will compete on both short and long tracks. The cars are heavy, with an average weight of over 3200 pounds, but very powerful. The engines in these beasts range from a 450 horsepower Audi S4 to a 730 horsepower Ford Taurus SHO. How would such a large gap in engine power make for a good championship? On the shorter tracks, the Audi's lightness would help it corner better while big V8 and V10 cars trudge slowly around the corners.
This thread is to gauge interest in this series. If there is enough interest, I will devise a full calender of events and lay out full details of how the championship points system would work.
RACE MEETINGS
Each meeting would have two 20 minute long races. Both races would be standing starts, with the first race grid determined by qualifying order, and the second race grid determined by first race finishing positions.
ASSISTS ALLOWED:
- TCS
- Driving Line
- Normal/Sim Steering
- Manuel or Manuel w/clutch gearbox
BUILD RULES
- RWD only
- 265 front tyre width / 285 rear tyre width
- Race tyres
- Forza adjustable front and rear wing
- All handling and transmission upgrades
- NO third party wheels
- NO aspiration conversion
- NO engine swaps (except for the Ford Taurus SHO)
- Final PI must EQUAL 670

Re: TORA Super Saloon Car Championship
Hmm... sounds like fun on some tracks, hell on others. I'm thinking "maybe" at this point. "When" is a huge factor for me.
Re: TORA Super Saloon Car Championship
Just a thought... maybe eliminate the lightest car and the most powerful car to even things out?
Re: TORA Super Saloon Car Championship
We'll work on that if we get enough interest. Right now I'm just looking for people who would like to do a series like this.

Re: TORA Super Saloon Car Championship
I have a quick friend who is a huge Dodge fan, and is on teh fence about coming here due to work schedule. What's the chances of something like this on a Wed or Thurs?
Re: TORA Super Saloon Car Championship
I don't know. Like I said, it depends on interest level. If it's mostly US guys than it might get a US-friendly time-slot like NATCC does.

Re: TORA Super Saloon Car Championship
Stonewall, I think that this would be a great NATCC placeholder. I'm racing a class very similar to this under the MMTCC banner, and its a blast... and I actually won one at Cat Nat in it last Sat night
Re: TORA Super Saloon Car Championship
ive been building and tweaking the panamera, its definately a fun car to drive at this class, looking foward to when this event actually gets underway!

That's an idea. I'll talk to the admin and see what they think.

Re: TORA Super Saloon Car Championship
When this takes place makes a difference for me. Got another trip planned for Sept. 14-24th. Would prefer a race during the week. Weekends usually mean going out and doing something.

Re: TORA Super Saloon Car Championship
Monday Wednesday Thursday as non offical community run series would be fine for this.
NATCC was used for our American friendly time zone so TCC could reach American drivers.
There will be hopefully drivers from the US that want to run in Porsche super cup etc etc as TORA official races etc
Cheers all

Re: TORA Super Saloon Car Championship
^ On that note, like I said previously, if this were run on a Wednesday or Thursday I have a hardcore Mopar fan friend that wants in.
Re: TORA Super Saloon Car Championship
Will definitely run the Porsche races when I can.SelectiveRogue wrote:Monday Wednesday Thursday as non offical community run series would be fine for this.

Re: TORA Super Saloon Car Championship
On another forum we where looking at replicating the Superstars Touring car series but it never really happend due to poor numbers on the site but it looks like that could match what youre looking for guys???
Re: TORA Super Saloon Car Championship
This sound like a great idea, didnt spot it before.
Hmmmm, the TORA Tcc is coming to an end tonight (Tues) could this not be a replacement for it at a slightly later time, say 21:00 Gmt, thats 17:00 Dallas time.

Re: TORA Super Saloon Car Championship
^ Until I joined TORA, I had no frigging clue what time... or day... it was in Europe.
Re: TORA Super Saloon Car Championship
Sounds like a good idea, I wouldn't mind trying it out at some point.
Re: TORA Super Saloon Car Championship
I'll be hosting a test session tonight at 8pm EST (1am BST). If you would like to take part, just post in here. If possible, I would like anyone who tests tonight to build multiple cars so that we can see how well they race together.
