Rolling Starts
Never though I'd say it about something BloodYPaiN wrote, but I reckon this is seriously well worth considering. Thoughts?BloodYCaiN wrote:The last place driver should be the one calling the start of the race so there isn't any jumping of the start (happens pretty much every time).
Also...from past experience...DRIVERS READY (unknown pause delay)...GO GO GO!!! works a shat ton better than 3-2-1-GO. People constantly jump starts trying to time the caller and a lot of the time 3-2-1 isn't heard completely.
DRIVERS READY.....GO GO GO!!! Is a very simple fix

Re: Rolling Starts
That's actually a good idea. Shouting GO a few times rather than just once means even if Lag is present then people will still hear GO. 321 does cause people to try jump the start.
Re: Rolling Starts
See I disagree. As replied in the thread, if people don't hear 321, what makes people think they'll hear Go Go Go.
And if its the last person, surely things will be more bunched up than bef... I dunno

Re: Rolling Starts
Crunks idea is good, just need ot make sure everyone understand what time the grid will go at, and that they have heard it. Timing will be quite close on this.
Re: Rolling Starts
Was going to put Crunks idea in here as i also thought that was a good idea.

Re: Rolling Starts
Either race starts dead on a set time, leader shouts GO GO GO or leader just drops it single file around final corner

Re: Rolling Starts
My suggestion would be, because as Simon said theres not a lot of difference between saying 321 Go and Go Go Go, would be to use Crunks idea. I would say either staff, marshals or both get in a lobby around a week before each event and determine a precise spot on the next track to be raced where the leader could announce a time on the clock to start ie coming around the final bend at Silverstone then saying "Start is at 2.00.000" which could be 5-10 seconds from the announcement.

True, can get confirmation that the backmarker is in place and everyones set.CMGraphix wrote:I think it should be the lobby host that calls the time

Re: Rolling Starts
We'll need to try it, if Chris is saying timing can be different for everyone we need to make sure.
Re: Rolling Starts
The ISCC races from Forza 2 - 3 we set a start time to aim for it worked very well when we calculated the GT season 6 by Time and distance we had a set start time leader could drop it, each lobby different but if we set it 60 MPH max whole lap will work fine, does mean setting grid on a mini circuit.
Re: Rolling Starts
Not sure where to post this but I noticed a blatant jump start in race 1 of the GTs yesterday, went on '2' of the pole sitters 3-2-1-Go countdown, and checking the replay telemetry the driver floored it 0.5 seconds BEFORE the pole sitter (TPR Box) did. Not sure what the procedure is for investigating jump starts. Thanks.

Re: Rolling Starts
Back to OP, we tried Cain's method in a TASCAR race, and it worked surprisingly well.
Just an observation.

That's the most safe method, and with that you can check who started too early in the replay too.
