TORA RUINED MY LIFE !
Before I came across TORA, my life was somewhat normal. I'm retired and travel occasionally to see my children in San Francisco and Alaska. I used to enjoy NASCAR. You have changed my life! I have started watching every available episode of Top Gear and when the wife isn't around I'll watch BBC on cable. Watching these shows is giving me a grasp of the Queens English. I now watch every Grand-Am and ALMS race I can find. Sometimes I'll stay up to the wee hours of the morning catching a F1 race. I have to use the calendar on my Imac to keep track of the upcoming TORA events. Hate to leave home and miss a race. I thank you TORA!

WOW. I thought judging by the topic that you hated this place! lol
But I'm really glad that the TORA brand is having such a positive effect and enriching your life!

Love it Dewey, same here in a way, TORA has it's own pinned tab in my browser, only one problem... work blocks the site for 'gaming'
As for Queens English, if you want any pointers, look no futher, i'm rather eloquently spoken, ask Hainesy

Re: TORA RUINED MY LIFE !
Great to hear, I think this has happened to a few people
I'm in a similar position, I used to watch 1 F1 race a year being Melbourne, now this year the only race I've missed is shanghai. And same about top gear, I used to watch it a bit, now I watch it every afternoon, and GT1, ALMS, WEC whenever I can, love it

I feel your pain Dewey.
We should be fine as long as the families of those affected don't band together.

Re: TORA RUINED MY LIFE !
Oh bloody hell mate... you seem to be showing the same symptoms that I have had for a few months now. Next thing you know, you'll be using unnecessary U's in colour and humour and/or spelling tires with a Y.
Re: TORA RUINED MY LIFE !
I've got to say TORA has definitely stopped me from my snobbish ways towards racing that isn't single seater. I've always had a soft spot for BTCC/DTM but GT racing is a real eye-opener!

Re: TORA RUINED MY LIFE !
I know exatcly how you feel! TORA works its way into your head and the competition you get here can be pretty addictive.
One of my Uni notebooks even has gear ratio's for my TORA Formula Drift car in the back as I was trying to work them out during a lecture!!

Re: TORA RUINED MY LIFE !
Can you imagine how it is for us staffers who probably spend more time on this site than any other?
Have a cheeky check on progress while I'm at work... like now, and tedn to be on it most evenings even though my racing commitments have reduced.
There's so much organising and set up behind the scenes that you guys will probably only become aware of if you happen to see us trackside.
Britcar is going to be a huuuge thing for us and proves just how far we have come.
For those relatively new, TORA only came about because the group I was with before didn't want to shift from touring cars to GT racing so I set up my own little group. Funny how a four man race around Silverstone Internation in 2008 has turned into probably the second biggest Forza based community out there!

Re: TORA RUINED MY LIFE !
Can only echo Matt's comments.
Been here almost since the beginning, been on staff since the summer of 2008, seen numerous transitions of staff and members, visited almost daily, raced almost nightly - anyone else remember that ludicrous 2009 calendar!? - podcasted, photoshopped, spent hours tuning and tweaking to develop race regulations, interviewed drivers like Jason Plato, and seen this place truly, properly evolve.
While I do not grudge it or resent it, since my daughter arrived, I simply haven't had the time to commit to TORA that I once had. On top of that, I put my home up for sale earlier this year, meaning I've done the - apparently - two most stressful things you can within the space of a year, so I ended up having to detox from TORA for a few months.
It really has left a massive gap in my life, as much of the last four years have been devoted to TORA. I've been a bit more active recently now that my wee girl is a bit older (8 months), and I feel left behind - not in a bad way though. I've missed all the new members and developments, race series, meets and promotions. But it's great to see TORA has made an impact on those who have welcomed it into their lives, and I'm chuffed to bits to have been a part of that.

Re: TORA RUINED MY LIFE !
Been here since the winter of 2008 (So I'm still a newcomer in the eyes of a few ) and I've seen many different things happen with TORA.
Of course, when I joined, it was called the BGTA! Many great races were had over the last few years. But these days I'm just happy to blether on the forums without actually racing. The competitive racing thing just isn't for me any more. I can't be arsed, in other words. I just can't keep up sometimes!
The community is fantastic, which is one of the reasons I still hang about, and it's great to be able to fanny around online with people every now and then!

That was my first thought as well. If nickyF1 is "slow", I am "hopeless".
Make that "beyond hopeless"

is anyone as bad as me, having an entire hard backed note book with tunes in it from forza 2, back in the day when duplicating a car meant putting the car together one by one then off to the auction house it goes, the Plow dominator Subaru legacy sold over 1500 copies of that carcar.
just can't bring myself to get rid of that book.
Used to floor it all the easy home from work just to get on fm2

Re: TORA RUINED MY LIFE !
For some TCC events, I would come home and race for my lunch breaks then go back to work. Does that count, tubbi?
