Race of Champions 2012

Entrants have now closed and we have our 16 drivers for TROC this coming Sunday.

This will be shown live on TORA TV this Sunday starting at 20:00GMT.

The Drivers

ATR DAN

The current TROC champion after winner the last 3 events, can he make this the 4 championship?

BG Beanz

The gifmaster himself, Beanz joined TORA this year and this is the first time he has seen TROC, how will he cope with 1 on 1 battles.

BG Wumba

Like Beanz, Wumba also joined TORA this year and he will also have to learn the skills of this event.

Bli33ard

Bli33ard joined at the end of 2011 so this is his first full year at TORA and got his name on the list early, could we get a new face win this year?

CQR Aero

If you don’t know Aero then you aint raced at TORA, He has raced at nearly every event at TORA and is the head Race Marshal at TORA. In 2010’s Roc Aero made it to the final event and got beaten by ATR Dan, in 2011 luck was not on aeros side as he got knocked out in the first round by IRT DeathMario.

CQR Jono

Like the BG guys Jono joined with S2M back in June and quickly changed over to CQR, can Jono pull an upset in this event and go all the way?

CQR MAGiC

CQR MAGiC has been at TORA for some time now but this is his first TROC event, He dominated the TCC but also proved himself in the GTs, will this multiclass driving help MAGiC with this event?

FranchittiFan

In 2010 event FrachittiFan got to the final 3 when connection problems meant he couldn’t race and had to settle for 3rd, 2011 and was knocked out in the first round. He is hoping for a success story this year and take the title.

Gen3ral ts0

This is Gen3ral’s 2nd TROC and will hope to do better then last year as he also got knocked out in the first round. Gen3ral knows how the races cars so should do well.

Hailfire97x

Another newbie to TORA this year Hailfire will try and put his name up there.

Ianmr

M&M Racing very own Ianmr had to race against ATR Dan in the opening round of 2010 and lost the race. Missing last years race Ian has returned this year.

iZ GunDaM

At the start of last years event iZ GunDaM was only know as ATR Dans team mate. Well he got to the final to battle his team mate for the title and shocked all the drivers for doing so well, can he take it that one step further this year?

IRT DarthMario

IRT DarthMario in 2010 got knocked out in the quarter finals, 2011 got knockout in the semi finals by GunDam., revenge this year?

SelectiveRogue

TORA’s Club Secretary will try and prove himself this year, in 2010 he was knocked out in the first stage, 2011 he was unable to compete.

XPR Soundwave

This will be Soundwaves first time at the TROC and hoping that this will boost his new club for 2013

xVampirAx

Finally a new name to myself we have VampirA, like quite afew entries this year, he joined TORA early on this year and will take on the challenge of the TROC.

The Event
The format this year will be just like the Real ROC, There will be 4 groups of four drivers who will race each other in 1 on 1 races, the top 2 drivers will advance to the next round.

Example

Driver 1 vs Driver 2
Driver 3 vs Driver 4
Driver 1 vs Driver 3
Driver 2 vs Driver 4
Driver 1 vs Driver 3
Driver 2 vs Driver 4

Each driver will race 3 times, once all four groups have completed their races we will then progress to Round 1 where it will be 1 on 1 winners advancing to the next round.
Example

Group A Winner Vs Group B Runner Up
Group B Winner Vs Group A Runner Up
Group C Winner Vs Group D Runner Up
Group D Winner Vs Group C Runner Up

The winning 4 drivers are now at the Semi Finals. Like round 1 it will be one race win to advance.

Example

Round 1 Race 1 Winner Vs Round 1 Race 2 Winner
Round 1 Race 3 Winner Vs Round 1 Race 4 Winner

This will now come into the Final and find out the winner, but first off who will take the bronze. The two people who did not advance to the final will battle it out in a one race to get third.
The Final
The two drivers who have advance to the final will battle it out in a 2 out of 3 races finals. They will race each other 3 times and who ever gets the two wins in the Champion!

The Track

This year The TORA Race of Champions will take place at Tsukuba.

Some of the more newer drivers may not know how the Race of Champions works, this is here to show you all what you will have to do I would have done a video but I have not got time to make lots of 30 second clips and putting them together so I will do it in picture format.

Step 1: Lining up on the grid

Start of the race, the track loads, the cars load, a big 3. 2. 1. GO! appear on screen.



The car that is closest to the pits on the grid is to drive forward and cross the line continue forward a little bit then turn around and head back to the start line heading to the other side of the track and get to the edge of the road (furthest from the pits) the car that is furthest from the pits moves forward a little bit and goes towards the edge of the road and to stop at the start line.

Step 2: The green lights

The the auto timer strated you off a little while ago now it will all be down to manual starts. If both cars our lined up ready at the 20 second marker then the race will start at 30 seconds, if the drivers are not lined up by 20 seconds the race will begin at 1 minute. (With these instructions you should be lined up by 15 seconds)

Step 3: GO!!!

Once the timer reaches your start time its time to release your handbrake and clutch (if your using clutch) and drive around the track in which ever way you are facing.



Step 4: Halfway round

You may think that going round the track is fastest one way then the other, correct that is true but in this event you will have to go round both ways, when you reach the start line that is only half way, you now have to spin your car round (making sure all 4 wheels have crossed the line)


(You can be closer to the line then this)

Then you drive back the other way, you dont have to wait for the other guy as you still racing them.



Step 5: Finish the race

Now drive around the track untill you get to the finish line, first car across the line wins the race.



As you can see in this shot then white troc car beat the black troc car by some distance.

Key point is the turn around at the start line, and a reminder ALL 4 WHEELS MUST CROSS THE LINE

This is classed as a fail

Oooh can't wait! Glad I snagged those 3 wins in NATCC the cars have not been released yet, correct?

Yes they have

Just one car has to be released Pity Bli33ard and I can't take each other on in the LMPC

Champions will be kept out thier cars if Chucky can get that to work.
