Fanatec Firmware Empty Fanatec Firmware

Post by TG Wormburner Thu 3 Jan 2013 - 13:15

Thomas just released the newest firmware for the CSR Elite. The other wheels already received it I believe. In the limited time I had with it last night I thought it was much smoother.

911wheel.de for download links and instructions. That is Thomas' blog.

The last firmware completely destroyed my Elite so I am never upgrading again, ripped the internals apart and locked it solid. Got a replacement and am happy with the original firmware that's in it.

Fanatec Firmware Empty Re: Fanatec Firmware

I've never had an issue like that. Their chips that they use are of poor quality while everything else is pretty good. The ventilation could still use a little more work but it's the chips that always malfunction in any of their wheels.

This is the first firmware I've had that has been an improvement over the beta I have from when I tested the wheel pre-release. That firmware is excellent and this new one so far beats it.

Something bad had to have happened when you installed the firmware. I can guide you through it if it all pans out with this one. I've done it at least 40 times.

I've installed each Firmware update religiously as they were released, and even that latest Firmware I installed and it worked fine as we had Britcar over that weekend in which I took part in a few stints. I then went away for a few weeks and didn't use it, came back, switched it on to race and it was unusable. Straight away I knew something was wrong, and it would only turn a few degrees before it shut itself off or become immovable. Was very strange, willing to give this new one a go.

I've got the new one on my CSR and it's a major improvement over the other firmware versions they've released Wink

Worm, will the new version make me any faster? I lost 1-2 sec/lap when I went to the Elite wheel with the same tune! Had to make new tunes but never got the same lap times.

Fanatec Firmware Empty Re: Fanatec Firmware

Post by TG Wormburner Sun 3 Feb 2013 - 1:05

I had to upgrade my brake pressures by 7% to get equal braking and my abs come on at the same distance. It also made me faster when I updated.

I still think 720 was the best FFB but the response from the wheel with the latest firmware is superior to the rest. I got a chance to really notice it. They released a firmware and I used it for a day and they pulled it because it messed up the fan so I had to go back and I lost a lot of time. New one came out and I improved again.

Still no where close to as fast as I was before I stopped playing to run on Horizon and then stopping altogether for over a month. That killed me.

Does anybody have a good setting for the CsR wheel? I have one, but have struggled to set it up very well.. And have avoided using it most of the time.
