As you may have seen in the 'Welcome to TORA 2013' video (and if you hadn't you should check it out) we are looking to include Rally on Forza Horizon this year. However, we would like to know from you guys directly who owns the Horizon Rally expansion and if you would rather see us use the DLC straight away, or just stick with the standard cars and standard courses for at least the first season?

Let us know your thoughts, and it can allow us to make a better championship Smile

I know Worm, right?

Its gauging how many have the pack and like it really. The rally aspect we are aware of, and may go to the route of Rallycross rather than Rally. I am not organising this one, but I can be a conduit to ideas to fire at the organisers if needed. Smile

Wallriding is possible on some of these tracks. You can't check if somebody did because they put out all core gaming features including replays. Today all games get aligned to casual noobs.

Maybe TORA Rally will just be for a bit of fun rather than anything too serious if the opinions keep coming like this.

TORA Rally - Community Discussion Empty Re: TORA Rally - Community Discussion

Post by Duke of Bruno Tue 8 Jan 2013 - 17:59

From my early attempts at a Horizon Rally (before the pack came out) I found it obvious that Horizon does not suit "organized" racing too well. In my opinion, if you are looking to run this, it would probably be better within the rally pack as the base game only has a couple of decent "rally" type multiplayer races available.

TORA Rally - Community Discussion Empty Re: TORA Rally - Community Discussion

Post by Hailfire97x Tue 8 Jan 2013 - 20:43

If people are really subjecting themselves to wallriding for a TORA event, then that's their responsibility. I'd like to think this community is above that, but if people are already pointing out the possibility then I guess it's not (if some of the fastest drivers on TORA are already afraid of it, I guess it's likely to happen).

Organizing person should have visible damage on. If anyone gets a crazy-fast time with a damaged car across the line, then we'll be able to tell why that happened. If you're driving clean, the wall will slow you down. If you're driving like an asshat, the walls will speed you up.

I have points stockpiled for it, so I can do it if you guys want to.

How about this? A P2P Championship and a Rallycross Championship with a Grand Championship between the two? That way if you don't have the pack, you could at least do the Rallycross.

TORA Rally - Community Discussion Empty Re: TORA Rally - Community Discussion

Post by XPR Roadrunner Tue 8 Jan 2013 - 23:10

I think someone should organzise a trial and error mini-series with the different opinions discussed here and see what works best for the full on series. Narrow it down to 2 or 3 versions and do it over a week. Make it for both the DLC and not the DLC as well for the test.

Personally, I'd like to see the DLC be used, otherwise it would have been a complete waste, it begs for a series here. Randomly choose the stages and don't announce them and also, randomly choose the TOD on top of that. That way no one can really practice for it. You could just randomly assign people to a lobby and then just take the final results and tabulate them for the stage winners and rally winners. Do something like 5-6 stages per meeting, all across different rallies in the DLC.

Like Hailfire said, if people wall ride, they shouldn't be here, period.

Formula Forza tried doing something with the P2P circuits on FM4 but threw in random grip handicaps that nobody knew were going to be. They also did 1 lap around a few tracks too. It was a helluva good time but didn't make it past testing, but it's a thought.

Use the Rally Pack. Also have rallycross races using the Rally cars
Dukes rally events were fun, but took a lot of time, and didnt work as 'slickly' as they should with the proper P2P rally stages.
I would be surprised if people wall rode, it doesnt pay to be off line on the rally stages.

I'm not wallriding, but I know many people who would do that. There was no mention about cutting the track at the world cyber games, which automatically meant it was allowed and everyone done it. Rules and checks have to be exact.

What is cutting and what isn't with no real track and it's actually encouraged?

This isn't really a game to race on, it's a game to play. To me, racing on this defeats the purpose of your website where everything is geared to realism and everyone is on board and happy with it. I think this would prove to be a major, major headache.

Paints don't even show half the time in multiplayer and I don't think damage matters once you get "X" amount of people in a room. It will not show.

On a different note, b0x the intent of the game was never to be a simulator or even try to do it. Everything in the game is geared for plug and play and no more. Stop trying to make it something it was never intended to be.

Post by Richy59 Wed 9 Jan 2013 - 12:01

As I said, I think TORA Rally will now be just for a bit of fun. It definitely seems that there is interest there to do something with the game, and we may even have T10 backing, but it won't be anything too serious.

Maybe we will cut the season down and have some more support races for the TCC - possibly in spec form.

I think that you'll just have to except that there will be wall riders on this, I think that we'll just have to keep our eyes open for cheating. I know that people ignore the road and just run cross country. This game is for fun gaming not serious racing.

I wasn't saying you would do it. I'm saying that you know the fastest way around 99% of tracks on Forza (forwards and backwards, as we saw at the TROC Laughing ) and you would likely know how much of an advantage wallriding would give.
