N.Korea plans nuclear test, rocket launch:

North Korea said Thursday that it plans to carry out a new nuclear test and further long-range rocket launches, all of which it said are a part of a new phase of confrontation with the United States.

The North's National Defense Commission said the moves would feed into an "upcoming all-out action" that would target the United States, "the sworn enemy of the Korean people."

Carried by the state-run Korean Central News Agency, the defense commission statement followed a United Nations Security Council resolution on Tuesday that condemned North Korea's recent rocket launch and expanded existing sanctions.

I wouldnt be 'too' worried at this stage. NK has been calling tis bluff for a long, long time now.
Despite their talk, they know full well that they are essentially dependant on aid to survive at all.
When they really start putting pressure on South Korea, thats the time to worry, if the aid dries up, then they will need to take what they require, and thats going to involve South Korea, and a whole lot of dead people.

Tricky diplomatic situation, thats for sure, much like Iran, with the exception that NK aleardy has nukes, and will be a hell of a lot harder to bomb.

well we will see if they actually launch this missile. If they do, the US might just have to do something about it.

Keep in mind NK already has been launching ICBMs that's against UN treaty, I'm not surprised that CNN is blowing this way out like they always do.

But if you haven't seen Red Dawn(2012 movie) than you should, just saying

I actually watched it the other day, no where near as good as the original. I was rather disappointed. The original was much longer too, which I think was needed. The new one was too condensed

No, as it stands, NK just cannot get a missle over to the US, even if they could launch from their own country, any missle would be shot down way way before it reached anywhere it could do damage.

Havn't seen Red Dawn, but im half sure Ive read a book that could be the same?

The biggest problem would be 'what' exactly the Western world could do about NK if they did actually launch against the US.

I'm thinking either the Police Action in the Middle East or another Vietnam War. Yeah, we'll help, but we'll commit virtually nothing to the cause and get pissed off when no one else puts anything forward.

well, if NK launched the missile towards the US (even if it were to land short) I asuume the US would take that as a Pearl Harbour type deal and declare war on NK.

THEN Canada would probably be dragged into it... and NATO would get involved and ya...WWIII

The USA, and the majority of the rest of the world, have been launching long range rockets for decades. I have much faith that any attempt by the DPRK to say 'square go' to the USA would be quashed within a matter of weeks.

It all depends on what China does, and I reckon they'd stay well out of the way unless they really have to, or are provoked into joining in.

You really shouldn't panic considering their first test was such a failure they almost ousted the new dictator. The second actually made it to space but is periling out of control.

Russia stood up against them and North Korea's only ally, China, stepped up and said something against them. No one supports North Korea at all, we are the least of their worries considering everyone around them wants them to just go away.

The way I see it, North Korea is like China's retarded little cousin. They keep yammering on. annoying anyone within earshot, but if you try to do anything about it, China gets all defensive.

Why doesn't the West use that as leverage: tell China that as long as they support NK that they cannot sell their slave-labor made goods in Europe or North America.

Lack of income could change how China protects its retarded little pain in the butt cousin.

Everytime NK want something be it aid or just plain old attention they do a nuclear test or launch a missile,its been going on for years, I,m more worried about Iran becoming a dominant power,Military wise.

That won't happen either. Israel and the US will never allow Iran to become the threat they want to. Iran isn't supported by anyone for the same reason North Korea isn't, just to a much larger degree. Iran is also at more of a disadvantage than North Korea. If they started something someone would take over their oil and transit money through the Straight of Hormuz. That is a major piece. Fighting over that control would be more frightening than anything Iran would pose.
