2.4 hours of Daytona

so some of you have read about me making a 2.4 hours of daytona, and finally, i can give builds for it. after months of testing, trial and error, and thousands of curse words, i have completed the builds and am happy to present them. as for the race, it will run similar to the 2.4 hours of le mans (will post full rules later) and the track will be sunset peninsular full. so, for those interested, here are the builds:

I was going to do something similar to this, but instead I was going to end up calling it the 24 Hours of Sunet (yes, the full 24 hours) and have a less variety of cars. DP would be Chevy Orecas, GT would be the ISCC S4 GTC builds, and GX would be the TORA GT S10 Endurance GT4 builds.

I'm likin what you got listed you got any ideas of a time n date for it?

um, not sure, but after Sebring, like a fornite or so after it, i'll have rules and all posted soon, the cars feel great to drive, but still hard enough so they don't drive themselves, and i was gonna have LMP2s as top class as they have a similar average speed per lap as the DP, but they were too quick

I think those DPs kinda fit better than anything else in the game. Ultima didn't fit in?

Orecas would be ALMS not Grand Am.

I'd say Mosler and Ultima for DP, select GTS8 cars for GT.

^ agreed but since Italia is doing a 2.4, I don't know if a full 24 hour unofficial tora race would be necessary

I tried the ultima, I'll give it another shot, because it looks like a DP, but I'm very happy with the list, but testing is still happening as there is an SLS n 350Z to be added yet, but if not, there's still a wide range of cars

and this is a first time thing, so any niggles can be sorted out for next year (yes i intend to do it again if all works out)

I see you just added the ultima I was thinkin of a GT car and now I'm not haha

The Mosler kinda looks like the corvette DPs and the Ultima looks like the other DPs lol

Yea, and the McLaren and Saleen are just as good, but adds variety

It probably still runs around the same pace as the Daytona Prototype cars.

It's not really the pace but that it doesn't fit, that's why there hasn't been a Grand-Am style race

Anyway, I could enter a Mosler and a Viper into this.

they're great car, even just running laps on your own is great, until you roll it...
in the process of testing the Mercedes SLS, then all will be done,
i also have a safety car, nothing special but look cool

or feasible. Bandit, try not to take a bigger bite than you can chew. For a 24hr you would need a huge group of people to race and host, and as an unofficial event, you'd be lucky with 10 drivers total. Just look at the CRA hosted 1000kms of Camino. That had 6 cars/ 12 drivers. I'm gonna send you a PM on TORA about this.

@Brad, very intriguing car choices for DP, I wouldn't have thought of the F1 nor the S7.

i've added a poll to see what everyone thinks, and if people don't want them, i'll happily remove them, just put them up as variety

I would have just never thought of it. but I do think of the bunch, the F1 seems out of palce. the Saleen actually fits quite well IMO, I just can't figure out why I didn't think of it

Merceds-SLS in for GT

I'm liking this - going to enter in the GT class, BMW specifically. I am hoping to enter as part of a team - pushing for 4 cars fielded.

Nissan R390 Race Car = DP

That's the spirit, the more the better,
I'm not sure when this will be run, but car list is now completed sorted (as in no more cars added or removed) and I'm just ironing out the kinks so they are as close as possible.

I thought about it, but that throws the whole DP car list out, because it's R2 n they're R3, and even if I make the Mosler and Ultima R2, the Nissan is still too quick in the corners, and all 3 are too fast in a straight line, even now with them as R3 I was contemplating a 5 or 10% power handicap to bring their top speed down.
The rules say (IRL) that the DP must have a top speed of 195 mph or less, these hit 192-193 just before the kink, so need to be slowed down a bit. But I'm fixing that in the morning

Only the rears can be 285, so the front tires are standard width, right? (there is an option for 255 but you dont mention that) My build comes out at PI627 - is that correct?

Also, will there be any mandatory vinyls, number boxes etc?

yea, thanks for pointing that out, its standard front wheel, 28 rear wheels.

there will be some manditory vinyls: rolex, grand am (if i can make it or anyone has it)
but there will be no manditory number boxes, as long as the number is clearly visible to the other drivers and in replays
