Re: Official Forza Motorsport 5 Thread - Part 1 [locked]
Technically this is the official one.CQR MAGiC wrote:Here's the new Thrustmaster Xbox One wheel:
"Developed in close collaboration with Microsoft, this 7:10 scale replica of the emblematic Ferrari 458 Italia wheel is fully dedicated to Xbox One, including Binder ID and Xbox One Guide button
Designed for true racers, it features metal gas and brake pedals, and gear sequential paddle shifters
This new generation wheel will deliver unrivalled feelings in Forza Motorsport 5 and future racing games on Xbox one: Racing sensations at a level never seen before"
Release date for it is 27 November - possible Xbox One/Forza 5 release date?

Re: Official Forza Motorsport 5 Thread - Part 1 [locked]
I don't there will be a Microsoft branded Xbox One wheel - this new Thrustmaster Xbox One wheel is their 'official hardware partner', so they've farmed it out the Thrustmaster instead of making it themselves, there's just not a big enough market or profit in it for Microsoft to make their own. The Thrustmaster Xbox One wheel shares common parts with Thrustmasters PS4 and PC (e.g. T500RS) wheel, which makes it more cost effective for Thrustmaster to make.

yeah that's trueRichy59 wrote:I know, I don't know what sort of quality that Thrustmaster wheel will have but I have used the T500RS on numerous occasions and I think it's a pretty great wheel. Hopefully the quality carries over, but it's still nothing compared to the (probably too expensive) CSR Elite that I have. I'd like to see some sort of connector for it so I can use my wheel, but I'll struggle racing without a wheel at first.
I also have about 6 others for our commercial use that we'll need to get working
the only wheels i've ever used was two that i cannot remember the name for with no FFB on the original xbox, and a G27 (i think) on my uncles PS, heard great things about Fanatec, and some bad things (turn back to Britcar last year with Magictap) so depending on price i might get Fanatec i can use on the 360 with the adapter (if it gets made) and if not i'll look at the thrustmaster because well, it's Ferrari
Re: Official Forza Motorsport 5 Thread - Part 1 [locked]
$400 is a bit steep though... I was hoping for a cheapo £100 MS branded one
Re: Official Forza Motorsport 5 Thread - Part 1 [locked]
If you only want it for the Xbox One then the Thrustmaster will be the way to go as it is designed for it from the group up probably (whilst sharing mechanical parts from other wheels) but for other consoles you'd need to buy another wheel. I did buy my Fanatec to use on every console, but the wheel (and an expensive one at that) only works well with FM4. Everything else doesn't work or feel right with the wheel, and I tend to use my G27 on my PC and PS3 more than the Fanatec.
Re: Official Forza Motorsport 5 Thread - Part 1 [locked]
The T500RS was a good wheel for PS3 but the Fanatec was better IMO. The CSR (& Elite) felt very strange for me on Forza 4 so I really only use it on the PC. If they make a Formula Rim or another GT Rim like the Clubsport or T500RS, (Which you can fit your own custom rims) that would be sweet.
Re: Official Forza Motorsport 5 Thread - Part 1 [locked]
I'll stick with my fanatec if there's somekind of adapter. Is it an issue with wireless that's a problem?
Re: Official Forza Motorsport 5 Thread - Part 1 [locked]
Yeah I think that's part of the problem, Xbox One uses Wi-Fi Direct for wireless controllers whereas Xbox 360 used a proprietary wireless protocol, so they're not compatible at present.

pretty sure after convo with fanatec via email relating to PC issue, they are working and are hopeful will be fix (fingers crossed)
Re: Official Forza Motorsport 5 Thread - Part 1 [locked]
The big giveaway with Laguna is the left-side retaining wall on the run up to the Corkscrew. It got moved back years ago! That video clearly shows it in the same place as we've had it since Forza 2. It's easy enough to add an extra strip of asphalt on the apex of the Corkscrew, just look at the visual changes to other circuits between Forza 3 and 4.

the video from IGN very briefly showed the guy wanting to change colors of the F12, and YET AGAIN, Turn10 is not giving Colour Names for whats available. ffs, GranTurismo has done this as far back as i can remember.

The consultancy company who designed this actually came in to talk to us in uni. If it's the same madcatz product they were talking about, and madcatz have taken on their research, it'll be a decent wheel. Not on par with Thurstmaster or Fanatec offerings, but decent enough.BG Hainesy wrote:Reckon this will probably be a cheaper option for you wheel lovers:

I like the look of the pedal box and the wheel itself. If it's made from good materials, it'll be not bad.
On another note though, this same consultancy have designed dildos in the past...

Re: Official Forza Motorsport 5 Thread - Part 1 [locked]
Not a fan of the pedal box personally, I think it might be a bit too chunky to fit where I'd want it to. Looks nice though...
I'm looking forward to the Cyberskin vibrating steering wheel though

Re: Official Forza Motorsport 5 Thread - Part 1 [locked]
The pedalbox does seem a bit big, but, being able to "adjust spring resistance as well as the gas and brake pedals' height and spacing" does sound very enticing.

They also said something about designing a shifter for this set, and the concept drawings looked pretty epic, it was a full sequential shifter with classic racing style panels available (martini and gulf colours were among them).

and should be pretty water proof
Re: Official Forza Motorsport 5 Thread - Part 1 [locked]
Played the one lap demo of various cars today, game is very different from previous Forza games. It's a new engine and new physics model - and I'm not a pad racer - but it took me about three turns to get a feel for it. Cars are more sensitive and loose, but you can feel the weight of the cars a bit better. Rumble triggers are so weird and a little off putting at first. Graphics are outstanding, visual cues around the circuits like marshals and crowds is a nice touch and fully animated. Didn't get any replay views or much else other than one lap. Not sure what I can discuss much else outside of playing the game and what we chatted about.

Re: Official Forza Motorsport 5 Thread - Part 1 [locked]
Sounds great Richy, I was really hoping the handling didn't go back in the other direction towards FM2 or FM3. Has anyone went back and played those recently after spending time on FM4? It really does feel like you are driving the 100% perfect FM4 tune on FM3 when you are on a stock car. There is that much more grip.
Thanks for the short review!
