Re: American Sports Car Championship - General Chat
Just want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who raced in C lobby for making my first TORA event something I'll never forget. We may have not been the fastest, but we still had some great battles!

Shout out to 2 DP drivers that drove me both sides. Shout out to stalking Corvette DP. That were some of best moments of Daytona. Shoutout to lobby B, the place of chills and thrills.

Round 2
Sprint Series: Sundays 15:00 EST, 20:00 GMT
Each race Race Length: 2:30 (2 Hours and 30 Minutes) with Qualifying and data input 30 mins. 3 hours.
At the current time slot this would make each event end at midnight for +1 gmt, "most of Europe" or worse.
I understand dust has yet to settle but the sooner this can be looked into the better for everyone.

It's an American championship, so they've placed it in a way that makes it work for most on both sides of the pond

it's 5am for me... like most 8pm GMT series, you can adapt...
Staying up a little later is better and easier than waking up early

Re: American Sports Car Championship - General Chat
I'm Pacific and never had any trouble running at noon. 5am sounds rediculous and would preferr having all the competitors we can bunch up.
If this was Friday, I'd understand a little, but this is at the END of the freakin' weakend!

Re: American Sports Car Championship - General Chat
Can we have a word about track limits at Long Beach? From where we can align into turn 1? Is this ok or I need two wheels left to the red line?

Pits will be in use, so i highly doubt that line will be allowed

This picture shows that my car on previous screen technically is not on box exit. Still, I gues, it is out of the track. Clarification would be very handy.

Re: American Sports Car Championship - General Chat
This is a road coarse so lines cannot be trusted anywhere. Only the curbs and walls are typically placed in convenience of the race.
The pit lane of course, will require some finesse and common curtesy.

I will highly almost assume that it will be out of bounds. If it's not I'd be very suprised and disappointedil0veMRT wrote:CAR Amarth wrote:Pits will be in use, so i highly doubt that line will be allowed

Re: American Sports Car Championship - General Chat
it should be common sense that its the pit exit therefore its off the racing line and therefore would be braking track limits simples. gotta say its a very long pit stop(56 seconds total) so people need to be aware of those exiting otherwise there might be a crash.

Re: American Sports Car Championship - General Chat
I would imagine you would need to stay to the left of the red line if not coming out of the pits. That said, I do have a question about when we exit the pits, where we should do so. Do we follow that yellow guide line to rejoin before turn 1, or follow the pit lane to near (or even after) the guide lines?
Ex 1. IndyCar last year (rejoin near end of the red/yellow line):
Ex 2. IMSA last year (rejoin after the line ends):
Ex 1. IndyCar last year (rejoin near end of the red/yellow line):
Ex 2. IMSA last year (rejoin after the line ends):
Re: American Sports Car Championship - General Chat

Re: American Sports Car Championship - General Chat
Just a couple things while I'm here.
This time slot of 8pm GMT isn't changing. Timeslot it's the most moderate timeslot possible for those on both sides of the pond and barely Australia/NZ. That, and real-life IMSA races start in the middle of the afternoon here in the US. There will not be another series at a different time slot. Sorry for those that cannot make this work, but the timeslot stays.
Long Beach threads, as well as a Sprint Series dedicated Google Doc, are coming soon. Planning on having these up by the end of the weekend. Thread for sure, docs TBD. Lot's of data entry.
Track limits, I don't have photos of yet, but preliminary rules are:
T1- Pit Exit is OFF LIMITS. End of. When exiting the pits, there is a white line that designates when drivers can merge back onto track- That is the rule.
T5 (Right-hand turn w/ yellow Twinkie barriers)- Allowed to drive over half of them, which I believe is 2 or 3. A photo will be provided to give clarification.
T6- Outside wall is track limit. IMSA allowed drivers over that line in their race, so will we. Also will give a little extra room for Prototypes to pass GT cars.
T8 (Right-hand turn onto back stretch with tire wall outside)- The kerb is the limit. In more recent races, the kerbing was removed but we will use the old rules, which is 2 wheels on track, and a max of 2 wheels on the curb.
Rest of track- Two tires on the racing surface at all times i.e. the white line rule.
Hope that clears some things up!

Re: American Sports Car Championship - General Chat
One last thing- Prototype drivers will need to exercise EXTREME caution when passing at Long Beach. GT cars hold the right of way, and forcing them off track is a surefire way to give yourself a penalty after the race.
There will be lots, and lots, of slowing down for others in the first few laps, especially in the Fountain and in the Hairpin. I'd strongly suggest doing some laps with other drivers or even starting at the back of the grid with AI drivers, and try to pass them w/o contact. Remember, if you rear-end someone, most of the time, it's your fault!
Happy Practicing

Nothing you say can make this work for us +1gmt or more drivers.
IMO you are asking far to much of others to satisfy only a few.
IF the session was half hour earlier it would make the race end before midnight this maybe acceptable for most.
Best of luck with it.
