Formula 1 2013 Game
So, Codemasters ARE going to release a 2013 game. This is, in my opinion, a very shoddy start to their marketing campaign. I had to dig around the CM Forums to find this out. Apparently, they originally planned to announce it in June, however they couldn't get approval But anyway, this really shows how Codies are rapidly falling back. The F1 Games are usually announced to coincide with the opening race of the season in Melbourne, yet they STILL haven't officially announced it.
The lead designer, known online as T4RG4, got sucked into a >>discussion<< with a fan on the forums. Ended up comparing F1 simulators to the F1 2012 Game. I don't know how he can argue that "F1 2012 was the most realistic game in the series". With no 1st & 2nd Practice, lame game modes (I really want to hop into all 12 teams in half a season!), unrealistic handling & clichéd & cheesy 'interviews'.
I agree with the OP in that thread though. F1 2010 Definitely is the best game in the franchise to date, which really shows how well they're progressing! Letshope PRAY that F1 2013 can recapture the fun of F1 2010. I guess this has turned into more of a rant at Codemasters attempt at an F1 Game than the new game coming up Bring on rFactor 2!

Re: Formula 1 2013 Game
I loved 2010 because it was more like the full season, ie 3 practice sessions, interviews etc, i didn't own 11, but played it a bit but not in career so i'll save judgement for if i play, and i like 2012, but it's missing something, not just the P1, P2 and P3, and interviews, but there's something else, idk, possibly the whole paddock scenario because i liked that
we'll have to wait and see

100% Agree. And, in my opinion, F1 2011 was the worst of all 3 games. Absolutely no feel of the car at all. Hopefully CM will release a demo, and who knows they may pull something out of the bag, particularly on Next-Gen consoles if it is released on them. I HATE that they renewed the license, if only T10, Polyphony or even SMS could get a hold of that license...

Re: Formula 1 2013 Game
Eh, you only need like two laps of practice on 2012. So no need for multiple sessions. All the paddock stuff is fine, but it ain't really important. What's important is the racing.

Re: Formula 1 2013 Game
Yea, i guess, that makes sense, but it's supposed to be a game to simulate the full F1 season, 2010 did, 2012 did half of it...
oh well, i still like the game

Yeah, that was actually one of my biggest gripes about '12. I couldn't sit through a practice session and smash out 20 laps dialling in a decent setup in 1st practice. Nor could I do my race simulation run in Practice 2, or practice qualifying runs in P3. I know you can just 'restart' the session, but you don't get the same immersion. I miss setting aside sets of tyres to use in each session, the track being rubbered in throughout the weekend. I don't understand how you can go from F1 2010 on a FIRST attempt to F1 2012 on a third attempt. There is absolutely no improvement. Even the Safety car is buggy as hell.

100% Agree, especially with the Safety Car point. I've almost been hit by that more than by people in public lobbies.
I sure as hell won't be getting 2013 unless they announce some amazing new feature.

Re: Formula 1 2013 Game
You can use the identical set up for like every track lol. Does speak towards the physics in need of a bit of an improvement there though.
Safety car is disappointing on F1 12 though. Really hard to get out, and sometimes it just eats you...I got DQ'd from it one time, real disappointing.
Something I hope they do in 13 is enforce the DRS rule in hotlapping. You have to open the DRS through so many spots that aren't that fun to use it in to get a good lap time.

Re: Formula 1 2013 Game
agreed, I can't get the safety car out no matter what, i try crashing into AI get 5 or 6 drivers, nothing, get them to crash on their own, nothing, it's just for show i swear,Texaspotatolord wrote:You can use the identical set up for like every track lol. and agreed with the DRS, and bring in the 2 zone DRS thing, i know that was introduced this year, so it better be in there,
Re: Formula 1 2013 Game
If you hit 'em right going in the pits it'll come out. Otherwise they just disappear. I think it works in co-op mode if you're teammate crashes. I tried it a while back with Takumi and I caused a few safety cars.

Meh, I really want it to be good but if it's anything like the other games I won't enjoy it.
Re: Formula 1 2013 Game
My thinking is, is that it's good that they finally listened to the fans. (A lot of them wanted this).
But it's kind of obvious that the reason they did this is to help try and win the war against Forza 5 and Project CARS. but the other two will still be better i feel.

It seems as though they're trying too hard. And we're nearly half way through the season.

I have great memories of GP3. Absolutely no room for error, touch wheels with someone else and you're in the trees! The whole thing just felt 'right'.
