Silverstone 12 Race Day Thread
Good luck all, cant wait lets hope for no lag and clean fun racingSelectiveRogue wrote:It's Race Day!
As per last years Endurance races we have a few basic pointers and rules to go over before we go green at the Silverstone 12 Hours 2013
http://www.theonlineracingassociation.com/tora-silverstone-12-hours-2013.html
Link to LT -
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0Am2dKToyQbkCdGF0eTEyejhGWEs0ejNwRjBiQ1BzbXc&single=true&gid=34&output=html
Hosts are marked as green we hope these are final any changes will be updated
Stint preparation.
Please make sure you are online at least 15 minutes before your stint is due to start and that you know who your lobby host is. You will get an invite from the lobby host, however please be aware of the gamertags so that you are not surprised by who is inviting you.
The race stints will last for 1 hours and 45 minutes. At that time all competitors MUST stop exactly where they are on the track. The lobby host will then ask for your current distance in miles and feet that you have travelled. At Silverstone it is the total distance travelled that counts, so we need to add them all up after each stint. The fairest way we can do this is be stopping on track. Camera cars will be in various lobbies, so we will will know if anyone is moving and they will be penalized accordingly.
The final stint will race to 2 hours and will be set too 2 hours 15 minutes you race to 15 minutes to go.
Lobbies will be set around a small 1 lap track
Grid Order based upon qualifying positions
Results PM to Staff (BG Chucky 82, BG Trash McNish & Selectiverogue)
*Note I wont be on until 1PM on the 14/09/13 any questions please PM above
Sorted. So as long as the distance under each driver's name is in feet we're good. here is how LT will work so we are all clear -
Inputting steps:
1/ Lobby leader distance in miles needs to be converted to feet. (1 mile = 5280 feet)
2/ copy the figure in feet, on live timing under the driver's name, right click, "paste special - values only"
3/ enter distance for other drivers in feet by saying =[cell number containing the lobby leader's distance]-[distance in feet behind]. e.g. =M7-500
Basically - Lead Driver stops 15 minutes to go, lead driver recorded, then distance from leader in feet given, lead driver mileage calculated to feet input LT, potions after Lead driver imputed into LT - lead driver footage distance.
Due to the problems on FM4 and Xbox Live we cannot completely eradicate NAT and connection issues, the lobby host will try their up most to get you in the lobby, however we will be enforcing that if you fail to connect yet half the lobby can connect they will have to start we will not be waiting for hours to resolve connection issues, these should be sorted before you race see here our connectivity issues thread.http://forums.theonlineracingassociation.com/t9661-connectivity-issues
Regarding connection issues, we will be opening the stints as soon as possible and trying to get everyone in as quickly as possible. Some people will bedouble stinting, so lobbies cannot go whilst the previous one is running. We aim to start the lobbies on the hour every time, but if we have connection problems we will be waiting for 5 minutes at most to get people in. If you cannot connect and cannot get online by 5 past the hour then the stint will start without you. We will be only be sending out two invites per session at most to everybody, so be prepared to receive them. If you do not arrive within the 5 minute window and do not accept one of the first 2 invites then the stint will start without you. We relay on a lot of pre-planning from everyone taking part in this event to make it run as easy and smoothly as possible, so we will not be hanging around for half an hour at the start of each stint trying to get one or two people in.
The first stint will start under the standard TORA Rolling Start fashion. Cars must follow the lead car around the track at a maximum of 100mph until they reach the final set of corners where they must form up 2x2 in their Qualifying grid order and slow down to 60mph. The lead car in the lobby will then sound off '3...2...1...GO' at any time between the Pit Lane Entry and the Start Line. Lobby A (which will be streamed Live) will follow the Silverstone Safety Car around the track which will simply act like the lead car, and will pull off before the cars enter the Start/Finish straight.
Every Stint after the first one will then start in last known result order or qualification order, This is to reduce wait time between races and will act as if everyone has just completed a 'pit stop' and have returned to track in a different order than when they entered the pits. There will be no rolling start, you just race from the start. Note GTE will start ahead of TCC in all cases to remove accidents on stint restarts with a 1 second roll off to simulate single file safety car restarts.
There will be one mandatory pit stop from every competitor during every stint of the race. This must be completed at some point during the stint, and you must tell your lobby host you have done so. If you fail to pit during a stint then one lap will be removed from your overall count.
Other than that I just want to wish everyone the best of luck over the next day or so. Remember, it is a long race and it will not be won in the first corner. As we found out at Silverstone last year, consistency and reliability is key to winning so try to avoid crashes and hope your connections stay stable throughout the event.
See you on the track!SelectiveRogue wrote:Rules Stints 1 - 5

Re: Silverstone 12 Race Day Thread
Aha, its another time of the year where we can express our love virtually but mentally.
Right now it is raining outside, cars going past. As I watch out my window, see all the mechanics of the car working together like a orchestra. It makes me very happy, But on the track it becomes a lot more intense. The cars are amped up, the drivers are some of the best and the atmosphere is that of a concert.
I love racing for this one and only reason, The sensation of being on control of something that can take lives, but to counteract that to be on control of giving you a sensation that is exclusive to only that thing, Motorsport.
Its amazing to live in a world full of conflict but all of that worry can be taken away on 3 miles of tarmac, 50 or so laps and a desire to compete.
Best of luck everyone! Hopefully you can get in the top 3!

Lagged out at 133 miles. Figures my first ever lag out would happen while I was hosting. I think standaman or someone else mentioned at the beginning of the race that they could copy the results at the end. Hopefully they get everything sent to staff.
