TORA TEC Nurburgring 12 Hours General Discussion

More than likely no would be the answer im afraid but have asked Richy but like Simon said we had no idea a new console would be out now back in March Feb last year

The release date of the new XBox has been known since August at least. Why changing it now, with just four weeks to go?

And I don’t buy the reason for the change either. If you have committed to a 24 hour race, you stick to it, new console or not. Especially if you want to claim that you are the best and most well organized. Right now I very much doubt it.

I think there would be many drivers that would attend this race, especially as the new Box doesn’t have the Ring, at least not from the start.

Really disappointed.

Will the race be started on the long straight or the pit lane straight?

Pit lane straight sorry I see no issue with a 12 hour race over 24 what's the big issue?

Some 1 explain the difference between a 12 hour and 24 hour race on forza 4 please

This has nothing to do with organising so cra what is the issue? Don't see any solutions or advice

I think it is quite evident for anyone with some sort of mathematical knowledge.

I agree. It will also ensure a better quality race as it won't be as much of a burden on the staff to setup.

I don't see how this makes any difference unless you was planning on running more than 6 stints in the first place. 12 or 24 hours this race is going to be mega, Last year it was 8 hours & it was mega. There's no reason why this is going to be any different this year!

For my team, 12 hours on Saturday kills off half the driver line up, as they work on Saturdays and could ONLY race the Sunday half of the event.

I just hope this doesn't force me to "take one for the team" and actually have to drive, as I hate Nordschlieffe with an intense fiery passion.

Edit: after talking to some of our codrivers about this, I doubt that we'd have more than maybe one car for this one. Seems that most of our like about Enduros is staying up all night racing with our old friends rather than getting up at 6 am for the first stint. I thought I was alone in that, but most of our line up feels the same way.

This race was planned some time ago and staff seem to have talked about this from May onwards. Did staff not plan this in their own agenda's?

I have a familie and this race has been on the family agenda for months.
Hell I even planned a day off work on the monday after.

You guys have 13 staff, 18 race marshals and in total some 43 "Tora staff members helpers" that could help out with this. Not to mention the all the help you could get if you would ask some of the bigger teams to help you guys out with hosting. XPR CQR BG CRA LMR F4H to name a few.

This would have been a epic last race to send off Forza 4 on TORA, one that has been talked about and plannend for a whole season. To shorten it is a dissapointment too many.

If the race got cancelled then I could understand the complaints.

It didn't, It just got shortened. 12 hours at the ring will still be a great send off for FM4.

Dissapointing seeing so many complaints when time is such a precious commodity and others use of it should be respected.

Thank you for even bothering to do so many 12 & 24 hour races per year Tora, I dont see this being done elsewhere and really appreciate your dedication to this community.

The hours it must have taken to organise all the data and entry lists, tables and co ordinate all the marshalls etc is mindblowing and trully a praiseworthy act just so we can enjoy a hobby, And all for free.

although i like the 24s more due to more people having the ability to race and the who 'night stints' but i give a massive +1 to this

When originally planned the 24 Hours wasn't exactly my choice of time, as the 8 Hours last year was touch enough. 24 Hours was a bit ambitious, so we've cut it down to 12 for our sanity as well as everyone's enjoyment.

From what I understand there are quite a lot of people selling their 360 to buy an Xbox One, so it's not as simple as people just playing their 360 again and switching from Forza 5 back to a Forza 4 - because they won't own them.

If you are really that disappointed in racing for 12 hours then just don't take part. The race will still happen, it will still be streamed and it will still be a big part of the TEC for 2013. We don't know what next year will bring game wise and calendar wise as we don't know how any future games work, but there is a high chance that we won't do many more 24 Hour races other than Le Mans.

Whilst Duncan is right and that December is a very busy period, it is for all of us hosting and taking part. Preparation for this event takes a lot of effort from both sides, so in reality 24 Hours was a silly thing for us to suggest for this month. Reducing it to 12 hours makes it easier for all of us involved.

We're sorry that people are disappointed in it but it is encouraging to see how much interest and passion there is for the TEC.

in my opinion, it doesnt matter about the length its about the fun we all have doing it and to be fair even to run a 12 hour event is a hell of a job so hats off to you guys

From what I can gather there is a number of people who have worked their schedules around the night stints, but there are also many people who have scheduled their time around the UK 12 hours. We could potentially move the race back 2 hours, which would mean we would end at 4am. There is also the potential to start the race at 12 midnight and then end at 12 midday on the Sunday.

no matter what Richy, 12 or 24 hours, there are a lot of people who will still help out to make it run as smoothly as possible.

I feel bad for those that scheduled time for night stints. Works out better for those on the left side of the Atlantic though, I'm not a big fan of early morning stints.

Gutted this is now 12 hours, killed my chances of helping my new team out in our 1st enduro together. Think of time people have used of their lifes testing for this to now be told they cant race it?

I blame Microsoft, releasing a new console and game RIGHT before Xmas and the Big N24, how dare they! 

It's a shame that it's reduced to 12 but in some ways it eases the burden on some of us.

And for those who complained and didn't accept the reasons, shame on you. Show some respect and humility.
