1. Nürburgring in the wet is one of the most horrible tracks ever. Do you really want to do this? This will end in a massacre! Why we cant vote for it?
2. 7 night stints and 5 day stints? Make it 6/6 or 7d/5n but you will kill our eyes with 14 hours of darkness on the TV! Nightdriving on the ring is hard and also the best time for every spectator but you dont need to overdo it!
We will have our last big race and everyone will fight for the last points, we also race on the hardest track of the world. Thats all fine and thats what everyone of us wants, but with weather and 14 hours of night you make the prettiest and hardest race of the world to a nearly impossible challenge. Too much is too much.

Re: TORA TEC 24 Hours of Nurburgring: General Discussion
1. The dev team decided racing in the rain is easy enough, we voted on it so it stays.
2. The reason for 7 night stints is we used the sunrise and sunset times to determine when it should be night or day. as its winter, this is to be expected.
We decided on this for realism, our motto is 'As Real As It Gets' for a reason. Why people come here expecting a perfectly dry race with summery conditions I don't know.

As real as it gets?
I vote for snow since the ring is covered in white right now.
Normally the N24h is in June so there is way more day than night.

Re: TORA TEC 24 Hours of Nurburgring: General Discussion
There was snow back then too! Let's all go play PGR then for the first few stints
But you do make a decent point - maybe we can look at the daylight hours closer to June.
This might mean having 5 wet stints, 1x snow and the rest night

"As Real As It Gets"
And also if it should be real... the real race is in the end of may/june so the sunset times are later.

Re: TORA TEC 24 Hours of Nurburgring: General Discussion
Oh what about red flags due to bad weather conditions? After 2hrs of waiting until the race continues we can do 3 laps behind the safety car.
Re: TORA TEC 24 Hours of Nurburgring: General Discussion
You can then. The rest of us will run at racing speed, as we did for Silverstone. If you can run the dry racing line, you already know the wet racing line. Pretty simple on the Nordschliefe. Don't see why snow plays into this, we're simply working with what we have on Forza, and we decided wet stint/s would be a good way to shake things up.

Re: TORA TEC 24 Hours of Nurburgring: General Discussion
The snow-thing was 100% sarcastic.
To the rain thing:
I do understand why we had a wet race in silverstone, because Forza-Rain isn't that bad on this particular track. But the Nordschleife is another dimension.
I've been there at the last 5 24hr races, this includes 2 red flags due to weather like we have in Forza. (2013 and 2016) In 2016 they didn't restart until the track was almost dry again, then they did 3 laps behind the safety car until the track was, more or less, dry.
In my oppinion, Forzas "rain" is in 90% a red flag in modern racing. If it would be as real as it get's we'll had a red flag in stint 1 instead of racing. Good for us that we're just virtual racers and don't get hurt after a crash.

Re: TORA TEC 24 Hours of Nurburgring: General Discussion
The Dev team looked into rain stints, and decided yes it is a challenge, but not impossible by all aspects, in fact quite possible.

Don't worry, it's probably going to fall on me to do the wet stint(s) and I'll do the crashing for everybody.

Re: TORA TEC 24 Hours of Nurburgring: General Discussion
Kinda bad you guys aren't letting the community decide what they want to do Imo. Yes the dev team may want it but if the community don't want it, what's the point in racing in it. May be best to put it to a vote for the community to decide and not a select few
Re: TORA TEC 24 Hours of Nurburgring: General Discussion
You see, the problem with letting the community decide is every single race would somehow be perfectly dry and everything would perfect and so on. That's not what happens in real racing. Andre Lotterer doesn't get to decide whether its going to rain in the middle of June/July. Sure, someones made the decision in TORA for this, but that's because we don't believe races should be run in a single condition. If you don't like it, let someone who does race in the rain. Simple as. Or practice. Your choice.

Re: TORA TEC 24 Hours of Nurburgring: General Discussion
We've just seen for real that sometimes the community wants different things and get punchy with each other when one side wins and the other side doesn't. Anyway, that's enough layman politics. We're actually reconsidering the weather to be more in line with what it was like a few months ago. Although that still leaves a snow stint that we might have to do on PGR lol!

Or just not not race at all which some teams will do. Numbers are dropping as it is and by not keeping the community happy, then they will drop more. There were more people racing in a 24h race than a 12h one which says a alot, whether that's down to teams dropping out or just not being able to race. I understand where you're coming from but if the community aren't happy, you can't expect big numbers for events such as this

Well, speak for yourself about not racing! If you want good numbers then look at British GT last night, that was great and awesome.
The N24 is a tough race, you can't expect a million entries for it.

The vast majority of the people not returning to a series here is because of infrastructure shortcomings which are being addressed, hence why BGT ran far closer to on time this week than Round 1.
The Dev team is made up of long-standing community members and staff has input as well. A poll wasn't made because the last one about the lagout rule divulged into chaos and not a whole lot was accomplished. So we made a judgment call.
How about you try this- Instead of "Staff doesn't care about the community, etc", you ask, "What went into the decision to run x night stints or y rain stints?" This way a staff member can answer your question, even have civil debate if you have opposing view points, and you don't come off sounding like a jerk. Staff and Dev team has put a [Censored] ton of time trying to get this event ready. I myself have probably spent the better part of 20 hours a week testing and balancing cars for both the GT and TCC classes, along with working my normal job from 7-5. Those working behind the scenes work far too hard for you to come in and say that they don't care what the community thinks, because it simply is not true. Without the community, this site doesn't exist.

We may be reducing night stints, however, the wet stint will most likely stay. As James said, we're looking at it.

Re: TORA TEC 24 Hours of Nurburgring: General Discussion
Yay a wet stint. I'm on a roll after my wet stints at Silverstone in various championships.
I do hope the amount of night stints get reduced to something more similar as day and night conditions in June.
