Re: 2014 Sportscar Thread
I've spent the whole of this race watching onboards. A bag of crisps and the grunt of a GTE Corvette. A well spent Saturday night I say

I can't find any streams for it, anywhere, that actually work,
IMSA has sh*t all, Fox sports is only showing golf on TV, and I can't find anywhere else

Great race at Long Beach!!
Scott Pruett brings it home ahead of a charging Jordan Taylor in the Prototypes.
Jan Magnussen finishes with a comfy margin over a close battle for second between Dirk Mueller and Tommy Milner in GTLM.

How was the race anyway? I spent the entire hour and a half watching the onboards.

Very excited for this weekend after listening to the WEC preview show on RLM. Massive power outputs from the P1 cars this year, and each car is a totally different beast.

Re: 2014 Sportscar Thread
It's not the FIAs concern. But it is a bit baffling. The WEC should be aiming to get more mainstream exposure, and charging for the previously free live stream will take it further into obscurity to the casual race fan, especially just as Anthony Davidson and Allan McNish are getting more involved with F1 coverage on Sky and the BBC respectively, and who are both fantastic ambassadors for F1s traditional sporting parallel.
I mean, if they want to charge us, surely they'd either throw in some new features to the service, or provide the normal stream free, and have a payment service for additional features (HD, onboards, telemetry, etc...)
Still though, Motors TV is easier to get this year now that it's on Freeview, and I certainly have it on my Sky box (it's free to view with any Sky box, no subscription required), so I should be able to view the races over the season.
I still think endurance racing lends itself better to radio though. I don't have the time any more to sit in front of the telly for six or twenty four hours! And thankfully Radio Le Mans provide fantastic coverage of every event. I encourage you all to listen to the races if you can't watch them, they really do give a great sense of occasion to every race, and they need all the support they can get!

Re: 2014 Sportscar Thread
The price page went down, but while it was up it did say 20 euros, which is only 16 quid, or 28 dollars, for a whole season, without le mans, because Eurosport still has Le Mans on its Online Player (I think)
It's 28 quid a month extra on my v-box if I want to watch a whole season of F1...
...HOWEVER, this is contradicting a tweet that FIAWEC made in February that this was going to be a free service:

Re: 2014 Sportscar Thread
Muscle Milk are going to try and run 3 Nissan GTR GT3's for the rest of the season, Hopefully they come to Europe to race
Re: 2014 Sportscar Thread
Mate you'll be there on the best day - looking a little damp for the main event.
We MUST catch up on Saturday. I have a few other people to see as well.
Anyone coming to the WEC PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take loads of photos and show them off here.
The very best will be included on the website Real Racing Section which is slowly coming together with some brilliant features

I heard that there were less than thrilled about the current performance balancing in the TUSCC, as it still favors the DPs some. Shame to see them quit out, as there are already too few P2s to make a fair comparison.
So, I wonder: Muscle Milk Nissan GT-R GT3? Will the go with TUSCC Daytona GT or SCCA World Challenge? I hope the DGT, as it would be cool to see a GT-R team in tat series, whereas there already is a couple GT-rs in SCCA WC.
Re: 2014 Sportscar Thread
I hope they would enter the world challenge alongside Dyson Racing with their new Bentley's, would be good seeing the 2 teams scrapping it out on the track like they did in the ALMS.

Re: 2014 Sportscar Thread
Lovely sunny Friday afternoon here in Glasgow City, doing some Engineering revision while listening to Radio Le Mans. ELMS FP2 currently on, WEC FP2 on in around an hours time.
WEC FP1 report: http://www.dailysportscar.com/?p=27708
The six factory P1 cars were separated by 1.1 seconds, with the #14 Porsche topping the timesheets in the hands of Marc Leib with a time of 1.44.042.

Re: 2014 Sportscar Thread
Yeah pretty shocked at the Rebellion but these practice sessions are a bit mehh i will be shocked if Audi dont kick it up a notch.
Re: 2014 Sportscar Thread
Reports of the 919s being muc much faster down the straight bits, with the R18s gaining their time elsewhere in the lap.
On raw pace, there is no doubt that each of the three OEMs will be closely matched, but the first real test for Porsche will be the six hours on Sunday. Much of the team come from an F1 background, so this will be a learning year for sure.

Re: 2014 Sportscar Thread
Romain Dumas and Timo Bernhard imo will be the ones to watch , but this is shaping up to be the best season yet.
Re: 2014 Sportscar Thread
Sam Collins notes that the Porsche drivers are having to right foot brake in the 919. No idea why at this moment.
So far in FP2, Di Grassi, Tréluyer, Nakajima, Webber, Lapierre, Lieb and Prost in LMP1. Audi fastest, with the Porsches focussing on long runs. Brendan Hartley had the #14 for the first part of the session.
Ram Racing split the works Porsche 991s in GTE Pro, which currently stands at Fred Makowiecki, Matt Griffin and Jorg Bergmeister. James Calado (who partners fellow GP2 aluminus Davide Rigon) currently ahead of the sister AF Corse car of Gianmaria Bruni. The two AMR Aston Martins trail behind, with Mucke and MacDowall.

Re: 2014 Sportscar Thread
Aye, simmer down you
As Mark Webber implied during FP2, it was long runs on full tanks for Porsche during the session.
