Most people will have modest specs. This we should keep it to something a bit older.
LFS or GTL. Definitely.

That is one awesome GPU. I've not done much to my 7850 except over-clock it to 1000mhz. Seems your system is future proofed for at least another 5 years

Yeah I agree with you here, as you have to spend more to get Rfactor 1 I understand.
Or how about the Power and Glory Mod for GTR2. Its better than GTL IMHO and is free. If you don't have GTR2 you can pick this up for £3.99 off the steam website
Its just like you said, LFS works out of the box, no flaffing as you put it, and I have experience in running a championship with LFS

Now we're talking - I have some experience of P&G, it's by far and away the best mod I've ever used
It may not blow you away with graphics but the overall experience is fantastic, if TORA were to run something on this I'd quite happily unplug the Xbox One
Re: TORA PC Racing Championships?
Well I could give it a try, never played online with P&G as there is never anybody online

The general servers are pretty dead most of the time but there are some really good organised leagues on P&G - I raced with these guys a few times and it was excellent fun:-
WSC P&G League
Re: TORA PC Racing Championships?
OK Jono, thanks for that, I will have to look properly, as last I looked for online activity, there was NO server's online, but I read somewhere I need to set it to SIMULATION for the server list to appear

Re: TORA PC Racing Championships?
Hi guys,
Here is my honest thought's here. I am asking if there could be a PC Championship, and obviously there is lots of you that agree with me on here. I am willing to "run" it, but I need the expertise of the web people here to upload and update results, as I have no experience here on background databases. With ESL, they provided website, the links to the championship and I updated the results and posted news and organised races etc etc.
Now here is my dilemma, and I will explain:
Game Choice: I have no experience of running a championship of anything else other than LFS. I am confident and comfortable with this simulator, and also see below:
GTR2: I have no known gaming knowledge nor have any contacts and also I am not known.
GTL: Same as Above, doesn't seem that active
Power and Glory Mod: Same as above
Rfactor: Not even downloaded it, due to alot of people calling it RTractor and also the amount of mods made some of it unplayable
Rfactor2: Will not run on my PC with decent frame rates.
AC: Will not run on my PC with decent frame rates.
Iracing: To dame costly for people to just "pick up and enjoy, its like re-mortgaging your house " without knowing if you will enjoy it
LFS: I know what I am doing. I am very well known in the LFS community so getting interested drivers should not pose a problem. I have my own 47 slot server than can be used for race days. Its cheap (£24 S2 Licence one off payment) and works "straight" out of the box for online racing. Keyboard / pad can be quick and competitive.
Negatives: It doesn't have "real cars or tracks"
That is the only negative that I can see with LFS, due to TORA working with MSA and real live events, but to have close enjoyable racing that is good for TV viewing, is this really a problem?
I will leave it with you guys, to mull over. If anybody wants to join me online with LFS, give me a shout, and I will see you there, but I am online most nights ( LFS Username Fordman)
If anybody has any questions, please don't hesitate to give me a shout.
Hope I see you all online soon
Happy Christmas

PS - If any of you that want to try LFS and dont have S2 License, let me know, and I will change my server to Demo Mode, so you can race in a fun and secure environment

Re: TORA PC Racing Championships?
I remember giving LFS a go on my old completely standard PC. It was only a demo but it was fairly enjoyable. I have to say with the way it looks I can see it being a decision between rFactor or LFS. But and I know not many people have PC's required to run it but Assetto Corsa seems the way. Its moddable and has insanely good physics.
I see it as leaving Assetto Corsa out of it though as it's still very much in Beta. I purchased rFactor 1 before but had to get a refund due to every time I put in my activation code it wouldn't connect to their servers. rFactor has a lot of mods but there are some seriously amazing ones out there, 1980's BTCC, 1994 CART, All F1 Generations, GP2, GT Racing and many other series. To be honest I'm completely up in the air.

Re: TORA PC Racing Championships?
From what is out there now, from the research I have done anyways, it seems to just be a preference of what you want to spend and what you are looking for. I have looked into the main ones people use and this is what I have found/observed.
rfactor - seems like some good gameplay but physics appear to be a little behind the current gen consoles and pc's. more like an early xbox/ps3 game. it looks about the same way, even when graphics are maxed out, though it may have a little more detail, such as engine looks and the damage moddling.
Assetto Corsa - seems to be a great game. Like stated above it is in BETA right now but is available to try out and give feedback on. There are only a handful of cars and tracks at the moment and you cant race with any other cars on the track, single player or multi, only hot lap. Tracks and cars are laser scanned and rebuilt in the game pretty accurately. Looks like a very late generation game on current consoles but not quite on next gen levels. Damage moddling seems very detailed and looks great when you go off course and hit a big rut and rip off a fender or bumper. Pretty cool stuff. I am eager to see the final product or even a fully functional beta.
iRacing - although it isnt the best looking game out there, even when maxed out it is current gen console looking. That being said the physics are built for oval racing and are perfect for that. t lacks a little when it comes to road racing physic, mostly in mid speed corners, around 100mph or so from what I understand). That being said it is still the best out as of now for a simulation feel. Also like said above it is expensive to get into and keep up with. Each track and car must be purchased in game to compete in full leagues. It comes with a handful of cars and tracks and has a yearly subscription fee. For the average gamer this may not be worth it but for a hardcore sim racer it is well worth the money, from what I have been told.
Project Cars - This is the one I am waiting on. I have a fully built pure gaming pc ready to go for its release. It is going to be next gen graphics and detail level. From what I have seen, it looks incredible with weather and night cycling. The detail of the cars and tracks are unbelieveable and the game isnt even in BETA yet. If you want to have an affordable game that you will enjoy and have a next gen experience without the price of the new consoles, this is the way to go, in my opinion. Then again my cousin is a computer god and built my computer for me for free and all I will have to buy is the game. Oh yeah, it will feature the Ring also. Always a plus there. It is actually what my avatar for this site is from. There is a view where you look through the helmet, does it get any better. Look it up on youtube, the driver actually turns his heaqd to look into the corners, so you arent looking straight the whole time like in FM.
i know it seems a little bias toward Project Cars, but any route you go, as long as you can find a good community and enjoy the car/track selection, I dont think you can go wrong. Any selection would be good as long as what you experience makes up for the money you spent. For a large budget go iRacing, its a big game and is very successful at the moment. Smaller budgets and less expectations would be fine with rfactor. The community is there and there are enough modders out there to bring new things to the game that werent there from the get go. Assetto Corsa will be a hit when it is released and so will Project Cars. For some oohing and ahhing go google screenshots of Project Cars. It already looks fantastic.
Hope this helps you guys out a little. Also this is all from what I have found out by looking up different options for PC gaming. Nothing official here, just a randoms opinions.

Re: TORA PC Racing Championships?
I agree Dr PiiHB, I have a friend that is working on PCARS and some of the material he show's me is just eye popping good, but it is still a long way off as yet, early next year I believe.
Re: TORA PC Racing Championships?
Just downloaded Rfactor as you get a 60min trail and yeah, it felt OK, but the car did feel a bit wobbly at mid / low speed corners. I also cannot find a way to get 3 monitors working.

Re: TORA PC Racing Championships?
As I said, we'll have a look into the PC side of things in the New Year. Ideas/suggestions/group testing is encouraged, but as of this stage there isn't anything 'official' and we are just toying with the idea.
