Most F1 drivers are cocks these days. You would be if you've had daddy paying the big dollars to get you up the ladder.
Perhaps some people can relate to them, but the mind of an F1 driver is a world away from my humble Glasgow leanings.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
I didn't know Vettel drove for Mercedes
Hamilton is very much turning into Vettel...
very good race towards the end, too bad that Dan couldn't pass Hamittel

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
On US TV, they were saying that Bianchi had a penalty left unserved. Not sure what for, but he may drop from P8, and if it were a drive through, he may be excluded.
Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
He had a 5s S/G penalty (I think) which can be added onto race time at the end of the race somehow
Either way, great to see them get points!
Now to kill 45 minutes before indy starts so I don't fal asleep and miss it

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
If any of you actually knew where Hamilton had come from you'd know daddy didnt put in the big bucks. His dad had 5 jobs up until McLaren signed him, may only have been 2 / 3 years but still, give the family some credit.
Hamilton is nothing like Vettel. Ever driven a racing vehicle? Ever driven something fast with someone talking your ear off? How many of you find it really distracting when lobby chat is excessive? Whats the difference, yes they may be relaying useful info but as a pure racing driver Lewis just wants to get on with it.
As for the 5 sec stop go it is a very different penalty to the 10 second version. 10s stop go must be served independent of a pitstop but a 5s is served before work is carried out in a pitstop. Therefore they jusr add 5s on to finish time if no more pitstops are required

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
I have heard about where Hamilton has come from. I have no issue with his upbringing or how he got to F1... its the ass he has been since he got there that I have never really cared for. Maybe, had he started F1 in a lesser than Maclaren team, say Toro Rosso or the equivelant, he may not be such a pr!ck now.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Fun race really enjoyed it , Nico deserved the win shame Riccardo couldnt take second but a great 3rd place finish and Hamilton well lol my eyes.
Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Having had to park due to something getting in my eyes, while leading at the time, I can truly feel for Lewis today. Still don't much like him though, and he showed no class in not congradulating his teammate on the win. IMO that shows little respect for the team he drives for.
Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Na i dont buy it the only thing he had in his eye was tears , he really needs to grow a pair.
Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
I really enjoyed the race, and am very happy for Nico to get a win, and probably his confidence back! Shame that Ricciardo couldn't get past Hamilton for second, but a great drive from him!

Lewis and Nico are just as bad as each other in my opinion. A good race but the two of them need to get their act together or Mercedes will crumble.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
As usual, a less than interesting race at a venue no better than a car park for modern F1 cars interspersed with moments of boredom relieving radio chat and the highlights of a safety car. If anyone wanted to see a real battle on the streets of this over-sized car park (what a joke of a "circuit" this is nowadays), then you should have watched the GP2 feature race or even the sprint race with some brilliant overtaking moves in the most unlikeliest of places.
F1 will never ditch this pointless race because they all love the glamour and glitz of Monaco but as a race venue it is a complete yawn-fest for the TV viewer for whom Bernie alluded to was the most important market for F1 thanks to the advertising rights that reap in the money for FOM.
Rosberg's dubious pole position was cleared by the stewards so that should be the end of it but any racer who feels cheated will tell you that a stewards decision is never the end of it. A lights-to-flag victory for the pole sitter was always the most likely outcome assuming he didn't have a poor getaway and that is what we got (yawn). Hamilton may have been pissed off during the race not to be brought in as soon as he reached the pits having passed the Sutil crash 24 ish seconds earlier and rightly so, he knew this was an opportunity to pass Rosberg, BUT, the Mercedes team policy of lead driver calls the pit-stop prevented Lewis from being able to pit first which is something he has enjoyed for the past four races but in the heat of the moment, he, like many other drivers, will say something over the radio they likely would rather not have said. In fact, just like Vettel did on lap four when he began to complain to his team about the under-performing Red Bull until he stopped himself realising his entire conversation was being broadcast, and then had to back-track and add in something along the lines of "I know it's not your fault guys". So you see, heat of the moment when world championship points are at stake, it is very easy to get annoyed at small things, and being a Hamilton hater won't change the fact that many drivers whine about things whilst driving, you only have to listen to Kimi's entertaining radio chats to know that.
People who think Hamilton is a cock because of his "attitude" should therefore also hate Senna, Prost, Schumacher et al as none of them were choir boys but it was their desire to win and passion for the sport that gave them that edge. Even Fernando Alonso recently commented in an interview that he respected the pure racing ability of Lewis and this coming from someone who had a real inter-team spat whilst at McLaren is indeed genuine praise for the guys ability.
Those who think that Lewis "made up" a story of having something in his eye on lap 56, really? You must seriously dislike the guy to think any driver would make up something like that, and lose over 4 seconds a lap to their team-mate putting them self right into harms way with the car behind. Wait until you get an eyelash in your eye whilst on the motorway then, it's bloody scary, and he was travelling twice as fast in a more confined space (on a stupid street circuit that should have got the boot years ago).
On a different note, Ricciardo is doing an amazing job at RBR; it seems like Vettel has got all the luck his ex team mate had last year and Ricciardo is taking full advantage and proving the decision to bring him through the ranks to the senior team was absolutely the right decision.
Alonso had a largely anonymous race but is still dragging the Ferrari up into a decent points paying position once again proving he is a better driver than the car gives him credit for. How long will he want to stay at Ferrari with such inferior equipment and will he be tempted by a Honda powered McLaren knowing that Hamilton won't be there to challenge him??? Kimi meanwhile had a blazing start after Alonso got boxed in behind the two Red Bull's, but after a puncture forced an extra pit-stop, and a coming together with Magnussen at the Fairmont Hotel hairpin (formerly known as Loews hairpin) he ended up a lowly 12th out of the points again; it hasn't been a fairytale return to Ferrari for Kimi.
Roll on Canada and the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, a track known for it's higher than average fuel usage which will be of particular importance to some drivers and the scene of some classic moments, like Button winning after passing Vettel at turn 6 on the last lap following an uncharacteristic error in damp conditions that caught out the world champion.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Totally agree Sky.
On another topic, Tony Fernandes has apparently put Caterham Cars and Caterham F1 up for sale.
This bloke infuriates the shizz out of me and has done since day one. Loved the fact he bought Team Lotus back to F1, supported him through the court battle to keep it then the second he wins he rebrands! What the actual?!
Same with Football. Massive lifelong fan of West Ham, puts one frankly offensive offer in and unsuprisingly gets rejected, goes and buys a rival London club! What is it with this bloke?!
In hindsight I'm glad he didnt buy west Ham because his track record of wasting money on crap is proven, with Caterham and QPR. He wont be missed

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Tony Fernandes has always seemed to be a very tough and cold character to me. No connection or warmth there at all, as opposed to someone like Vijay Mallya, or of course Frank Williams. I'm surprised he's stayed in it that long, to be honest.
Btw: I think we could have a few mega crashes between Rosberg and Hamilton this season, cue unattainable & controversial Schumacher overtaking moves

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
I'll agree that the GP2 feature was better than the F1, I did not see the GP2 sprint so I cannot comment on how it was.
But I will stick by saying that even the F1 race was the second best show of the day, behind Indy 500, but wayyy ahead of the NASCAR 600.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Its a shame they dont show Indycar in the UK, I had heard when Sky F1 channel was launched they would show delayed Indycar races which wouldve been awesome. I rate Indycar and WEC much higher than F1 nowadays

They did show the 500 yesterday, but seems most watched the American feed via the 'net.

I'd rather stream American coverage. British commentary on American sport is usually shoddy and from what I've heard the Indy 500 was the same

Didn't watch the 500 yesterday so can't comment on the commentary for that, But for the other Indy races this season, BT Sport used the American commentary.
Coverage is probably better than U.S. as well, As we don't cut to adverts every 5 minutes.
