Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
- German GP:
- Rosberg wins again, Bottas gets another podium, and even I can admit Louis drove his arse off from the rear in spectacular fashion
Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Lewis just can't get a break can he?? I'm not a fan, but it's hard not to feel for him after all of his luck.

Really great qualifying! Thought Vettel would have pole, but Rosberg just destroyed his time! Great showing by Bottas again, and Vettel finally looks like he's settled in his car. Disaster for Räikkönen, getting out in Q1, was showing great form in the practice sessions. Really excited for tomorrow!

Me too, not a fan... but after his entertaining display last week, his misfortune in quallys today just give me more to look forward to tomorrow.
Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Yeah, there is no doubt it will be a fantastic race. Right now, I'm thinking another easy Rosberg win, barring mechanical issues.

Cracking race, particularly towards the end. Fernando really does outdrive that car, and chuffed for Daniel, honestly seems like one oglf the most down to earth & genuine guys on the grid.
I'm starting to get really sick of the conspiracy theorists crying that Mercedes are trying to sabotage Lewis. They're not. Lewis has had some extremely bad luck recently, but that's precisely what it is; bad luck.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Cracking race today, wet conditions making it even better. Alonso as always driving the car beyond it's limits, Ricciardo driving a great race with a good strategy and Hamilton coming from a pit-lane start to third on the podium, amazing. Even more so when you consider that the McLaren's were actually performing quite well today and Rosberg was absolutely flying at the beginning and the end. Although Lewis probably doesn't think third is good enough, when you think of where he started, on a track that doesn't lend itself to over-taking, 3rd is actually a damn good result; and it was ahead of his team-mate more importantly.
A torturous one month break now before 24th August at Spa; I'm relishing the prospect of seeing the two Mercs battling together again.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
The big rumour now is Max Verstappen to Toro Rosso in 2015, if it's a race seat, he will be 17 years old at the first race.
he is a prodigy to say the least, here are some of his karting records.
http://forums.autosport.com/topic/191053-max-verstappen-can-he-make-it-to-f1/?p=6513688
and his current F3 season
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Verstappen#Racing_record
he is definitely a driver to watch out for in the future.
edit: official

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
So Verstappen will drive for Torro Rosso next year at only 17 after only one season of racing last year. Red Bull kicking out yet another driver. I doubt Jev will get a seat next year. Such a waste.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
He certainly has an impressive backlog, and to be brutally honest I think Jev is dead weight in that team. Is he really good enough to step up to Red Bull and potentially challenge for championships?
But I think it's a bit hasty to throw him into F1 at this age, he needs a bit more experience, perhaps a season or 2 in GP3 or GP2?

He definitely shouldn't be in Formula 1 in only his second season of car racing no matter how talented he is. As for Jev he may not be the most talented but it seems Torro Rosso kick out their drivers as soon as they stop performing.

Saw this today, and am not sure if it's true, but if it is... Well, I certainly don't understand it.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Jev hasn't proven to be anything special. I could see him getting a Sauber / Force India / Marussia drive but aside from that he'll more likely go to WEC where he'll be appreciated.
As for Verstappen, remember Toro Rosso is Red Bulls junior team. Kvyat and Verstappen together is an incredibly promising team, they need to give Max at least three seasons though, no point having a 2 year contract at 17. If they support him right he'll be fine.
Personally I would rather see the likes of Verstappen, Ocon, Marciello graduate into F1 (all rookies in their series) than someone like Palmer who has spent 4 years in GP2 before paying for the best seat (and well over the odds to secure it too) to have a punt at the title. He's no better in my eyes than Chilton, both have used daddys money to get to where they are yet will not for a second admit it.
As for Lotterer to Caterham, thats out of left field. Audi linkup?

I can't figure it out, I think it must be Audi. Again, just speculation, but what else does he bring?

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Could be something to do with the Formula E campaign ? idk strange one this as its not like he really needs the drive time.

And I really doubt he would leave his factory seat with one of the top manufacturers in sports cars to go to a piddly team in F1. Makes no sense, Formula E seems like the best fit, but still doesn't quite fit for me.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
The only possible reasoning I can think for this is there have been rumours about VAG entering F1 through VW for a while now, perhaps they're eying a tieup with the new Caterham owners? Using Lotterer to get an idea of what needs to be improved?

And dont forget, there is a link between VAG - Kolles - Lotterer. Lotterer started in a customer Audi R10 TDI in a team managed by Kolles. Could happen

Still done more races than Raikkonen had before he came in. Verstappen has done 40 car races and Raikkonen only did 23! lol

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Lotterer officially replaces Kobayashi in Belgium. Caterham or Lotterer have nothing to lose anyway so this should be interesting to watch.

Just saw a rumour that Vettel signed with McLaren to replace Button, with an announcement to be made before Monza. To be honest, not sure why he would sign there(if it's true obviously), but I guess we'll see what happens!

Vettel to McLaren? Wow that's one I hadn't heard! Like you say not sure why he would if it's true, I prefer seeing him getting spanked by Ricciardo at Red Bull so I hope he stays!
