With Honda coming into F1, and McLaren becoming a de facto works team, it kinda makes sense. Remember Lewis Hamilton's move to Mercedes seemed suicidal at the time!

Chilton replaced by Alex Rossi "until contractual issues are resolved". Best news ever

Been wanting to see Rossi get a chance for ages! And it's even better knowing that it's at the expense of Chilton!

Contractual issues: most likely the team told papa Chilton that his cheques needed more "0"s in them.

I mean it's one thing to buy your way in, but when your performance starts discouraging potential sponsors and their money, you'd better be prepared to spend more to keep your seat.

I missed today's race, slept in, woke up to watch it with 10 minutes left so I rolled over and went back to sleep.

Did I miss anything exciting/important?

50:50 to me. Rosberg went for a move that was pretty unlikely but Hamilton could have been sensible and left him room. Pretty ridiculous that he's going on to say that Rosberg said it was intentional when Mercedes have even said that Lewis misenterpreted Nico's comments...

Delighted for Ricciardo though. Awesome to see him get another win.

Rosberg was nowhere near far enough along side for him to need to leave Rosberg room. Fact that Wolff has said "If Lewis has said that it's going to be a slap on the wrist, and that there's going to be no consequence, then he's not aware of what consequences we can implement." That suggests to me whar theyve said in public differs to what has been said in private.

But yes delighted Ricciardo won again. Top drive. If Merc aren't careful and Seb continues to be prepared to play dilligent teammate (yeah, who'd have thought it!!) he could sneak through still.

Usually I'd agree with that. But I'm sick of seeing this in F1. Every driver thinks that they can force another driver off the road despite being side by side because it's in the FIA regulations. Should be changed. I'd normally agree that it was wrong of Rosberg to do that as it wasn't a very smart move but in all honesty I can think of many occasions where Hamilton has forced Rosberg off and I'm not surprised that Rosberg's reaction was "I've had enough of this". Hamilton needs to learn that being that aggresive on the defensive is how you can lose a championship.

My take on this... blame the elders:

What we see is a generation that grew up on Senna and Earnhardt, or dare I say Schumi. None of those heroes got their success via sportsmanship and fair play, and generations of budding racers studied their every move in their formative years. Kids today think that is "how its done".

Hammy and Nico, as well as most of the grid, is guilty of this in my opinion.

Hamilton needs to stop being such a whiny little [Censored] as well. Wanting to retire the car after 20 laps? Grow a pair, anything can happen. You are paid to drive the car, the team will retire you if you need to be retired. He just needs to get his head down and get on with it instead of moaning on the radio and assuming it's race over already.

He's arguably the quickest driver in terms of raw pace, but his attitude is terrible.

Nail on the head. I don't dislike Hamilton much. But yes, his attitude is appaulling. When things don't go his way he kicks and screams. Just like Vettel at Silverstone but Lewis waits until after the race to showcase it all over the media. Rosberg so far is leading because of Hamilton's bad luck and Nico is far superior in terms of how to play mind games.

EDIT: The whole thing reminds me completely of Senna (Hamilton) vs. Prost (Nico). Hamilton is brave in the car, acts pretty ridiculous and like Ayrton barely even see's other cars on track when on Lap 1, 2, 3 because he thinks he's entitled to be OTT aggressive. Meanwhile, Nico plays it smart and does what it takes to get the right points he needs, where to finish, etc. There's reason Alain was the professor of F1.

I do admire Ayrton though. I certainly don't admire Lewis.

All in all, it's been a rather weird day for Mercedes. Happy to see Daniel Ricciardo win. He's a sort of non-offensive winner, a neutral. Nobody really hates him and nobody really roots for him. Funny that.

^Except all of Australia. Patriotic bunch that lot. Can't say particularly support any driver, but I've always had respect for Rosberg since he came into the sport in 2006.

In terms of who to win the championship my favourite is Rosberg. But realistically my fav is Ricciardo. The most down to earth, friendly, laid back guy and he can drive....FAST!

Think I'm still living in 2001 to be honest. The fact that I'm astonished none of the current field drove F1 during the 90s, and that I can remember when both Kevin Magnusson and Max Verstappen's fathers were racing, tells you a lot about the crisis I'm having towards F1 these days.

Out of the current field, I can't really pick any favourites. I'll naturally root for Fernando, purely from the days when he was the only one sticking it to Schumi in his Renault, and I'll admit I'm quite impressed by the demeanour of Kevin Magnusson and Valterri Bottas.

I think F1 is going through a really awkward transitional phase. It got a bit carried away with it's success around 2007-2009, and the F1 we have now is very different as a result of that. I think F1 just now is a good motorsport equivalent to the English Premier League, both of which have left a lot of fans disillusioned and alienated, with extremely high prices on the gates, and TV coverage behind a paywall. The rivalries are blown over the top, and a lot of ill educated fans are taking over and making it very petty (booing Rosberg today is a great example of that).

I really hope F1 rediscovers it's mojo soon, and I'm glad Andre Lotterer brought a bit of reality to the F1 media this weekend. It was nice hearing the pundits defend the guy and explain that he was actually earning quite a bit of money from his works seat elsewhere in the sport, and was not in fact a wealthy oil-merchant/dictators-son.

I didn't watch a lot of F1 in the early 2000s but so much has changed since then.  And like current society, all the ill manored, rude, disrespectful kids are taking over and ruining it (talking about spectators)

I was glad at the start of the season when RB was struggling, thought it might be a bit more of a guess at who could win. But again another team is sitting pretty at the top while the others sit at the back and watch. Money is too much in motorsport these days and it ruins it.

And as for supporting this year, it has to be Danny Ricc because I can see his smile from my house when he's still international and he's a genuine guy. Second is still Alonso as it has been for years, but I don't think they have the car their capable of yet.

Still quite a bit of racing to go in the season, but fingers crossed for Ricardo
