alonso's penalty was way too lenient, he should have started from the pitlane but they purposely took that penalty instead.
dirty tactics.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
So...Rosberg has apparantly admitted to "deliberately" causing a collision with Lewis Hamilton. He should be banned for a race or 2. I'm no Lewis fan by far but that was so unsporting and disappointing.
DISGUSTING
Eddie Jordan telling the crowd to stop booing because' nico put on a show to entertain'. Bull! He ROBBED us and LH of a great race.
Why shouldn't the fans who attended let their feelings known?

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
someone else posted this on another forum, these are pretty much my views on rosberg.
"Both Toto and Lauda have said that Nico did not intentionally cause the contact. To be honest, I believe the intentional bit on Nico's behalf was simple decision before the race that if a situation arises where both are fighting for the same piece of tarmac and Hamilton pulls his yield or crash move, he is not going to yield if he has sporting regulation support on his own position as it turned out to be the case yesterday."

LMR Zakspeed wrote:Usually I'd agree with that. But I'm sick of seeing this in F1. Every driver thinks that they can force another driver off the road despite being side by side because it's in the FIA regulations. Should be changed. I'd normally agree that it was wrong of Rosberg to do that as it wasn't a very smart move but in all honesty I can think of many occasions where Hamilton has forced Rosberg off and I'm not surprised that Rosberg's reaction was "I've had enough of this". Hamilton needs to learn that being that aggresive on the defensive is how you can lose a championship.
Are you actually serious?! Being aggressive on the defensive is how you lose a championship? Except that as you can tell drivers with pedrigree and actual common sense with a clear head, (which is what Rosberg didn't have as mentioned in the meeting they had on Thursday, that he had been angry for three weeks over what happened in Hungary) actually know when to pull out of a move that isn't happening, a PERFECT example of this is Vettel pulling out of the move the lap before, and as for Rosberg being pushed off the track, all he had to do was wait or hit the brakes, simple, but no, he decided to go the dirty route, and that, whichever way you want to look or try to justify it, is as cynical as Schumacher was. You all talk about Hamilton being a child, yet when Rosberg says "I've had enough of this" in the same way a child would react if not worse...

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Vettel pulled out of it because if you look, he outbraked himself and locked up. Meaning there was no way he could take the corner alongside Lewis. Rosberg's was different. Yes he could have braked or wait, but I bet you if it were the other way around and Rosberg closed the door on Hamilton, it would be a different aftermath. Two of them are acting like children. It's a 50/50 racing incident IMO. Rosberg could have pulled out but didn't because he's been cut off in that same move before and Hamilton could have not put it all on the line at once and he probably would have gotten away without 0 points.
Each one of them could have backed out but chose not to because they are battling for a championship. Yes it was only Lap 2 but you can be sure it would happen on any lap.
Edit: If you look at the onboard you can even see that Rosberg quickly swerved left a bit on the wheel but Hamilton still shut the door. You say that Rosberg clearly had no common sense in that incident. Looks like Hamilton didn't either...

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Even if Ricc won all the remaining races, it's probable that Nico would be right behind him, so he really has no chance at the title. That said, I do like the kid. He's definitely got some skills. I've always been a fan of Nico, (fellow German), and he was second seat at Mercedes far too long. He has proven this year that given the tools he can deliver. While I admire Hamilton's skill as a driver and his passion, his childish antics have become a bore. I suspect it was part of the reason McClaren was willing to let him go. His whining and outbursts, and misrepresenting the facts are more detrimental to the team than the on track incidents.

Nico did not deliberately cause a crash. As usual, Hamilton was speaking out of turn, so to speak.

Hamilton says alot of crap, the fact he wanted to retire the car was shocking, He should have acted like Turkington and got on with it, hell he could have just taken his time back to the pits instead of wracking his floor. I fully understand Rosberg putting his car there, he just didnt quite manage to get back behind as he hoped.

+1 This whole thing is being completely blown out of proportion. As for the booing I don't like it one bit no matter what happens.F4H Trash wrote:Here`s my take on it [Censored] HAPPENS get on with it.

The boos happen every week during NASCAR driver introductions. The Busch Bros, Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon are quite used to them.

Easy for us to say that when we are not the ones fighting for a world championship, not to mention all the people behind the scenes at Mercedes that rely on good results for the team to keep their jobs secure.

If Lewis was moaning about me crashing into him, I'd probably say it was deliberate just to wind him up.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
After watching it last night, I'd have to say that at the end of Camel straight, Rosberg was there. But Lois took the chicane as if he wasn't.
At minimum, a 50/50 racing incident.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Vettel on L1 showed what ROS shouldve done at that point, and i believe it was RIC or BOT showed how far alongside you have to be to overtake that way later on. He shouldve backed out. Do i think he shouldve got a penalty, perhaps a 5 second stop go at absolute most, simply because it was rookie grade clumsy.
Regarding the discussions post race, IF rosberg did indeed say he couldve avoided contact but didnt, by employment law that could be considered misconduct because it caused significant damage to company property. IF he did say it, then I would like to see him miss Monza. However, I doubt Merc would do that even IF he did. He'll probably take a fine and a severe talking to in the privacy of Brackley HQ

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
I think that they are both at fault here, yes, Rosberg probably shouldn't have been there, but Lewis could have avoided it too. I think when Rosberg says he "did it on purpose" he does not mean he set out to ruin HAM's race, just that he wanted to make his "point", whatever that may have been.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Lewis says that Rosberg said it was malevolent. Mercedes themselves have said that Hamilton misenterpreted his words. It seems to me that Rosberg said he could have avoided the incident, but chose not to as he thinks Hamilton should learn that he won't push Nico off track ever again.
"He did it on purpose" - Nico went into that GP with the idea of I'm stick Lewis in the wall. FALSE
"Could've avoided it" - Nico went for a move that didn't work in the end but he wasn't going to back out for his teammate.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
This went a bit unnoticed. Remember Luciano Burti's horrific accident at Blanchimont in 2001?

There's been a lot of complaints about tarmac run-off over the years, but I'm definitely glad we have it now.

Former Formula 1 driver Luciano Burti has been reunited with the helmet that saved his life 13 years ago. Burti's F1 career was effectively ended by a crash at the 2001 Belgian Grand Prix that left him with head injuries. Yet until being returned to its owner a little over a week ago, the helmet that spared Burti a worse fate that day had been stored, forgotten, in a warehouse.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Wow, what a fantastic race at Monza. Battles going on throughout the field, the Perez / Button duel lap after lap was great as was watching Bottas slowly overtaking his way though the field. Great podium for Massa, overdue and well deserved, also great to see Rosberg under pressure from his team-mate and apparently buckling under it; a well needed victory for Hamilton.
Didn't like the booing of Rosberg again but obviously the depth of feeling against his antics in Spa are not forgotten yet.
