2009 ING Australian Grand Prix
The wait is almost over!!!! Plenty to talk about over the coming weeks, with the main story's going into Melbourne being:
-Will Brawn GP transfer test success into racing?
-Will Maclaren prove us wrong with their 2009 car and get to the top step?
-Will we be seeing plenty of overtaking?
-Can Alonso return to his championship winning form?
Im looking foward to this as most of you are, sure, we may hate F1 at times, with all the polotics, endless tarmac run offs and boring racing, but once it gets to the start of the race, the excitment builds up inside and explodes out as soon as those 5 red lights go out!
So, whos staying up to watch quali and race? and whats your predictions for the race? And how will the BBC do on their first outing since 1996?

Re: 2009 ING Australian Grand Prix
I will be up for the first race! I'm really looking forward to it, but I feel that I can probably answer all your above questions with a nice big NO!
Although I really do hope Brawn GP do well, simply because they are the small (Nick) Frys now

Re: 2009 ING Australian Grand Prix
um....
Hopefully all the other teams won't bully the new team, but i'm sure the have the Brawn (GP) to fight back....
Man, that was bad...

Re: 2009 ING Australian Grand Prix
Got a feeling I'll be watching the re-run. I'm coming off night shifts, then going out for my mates birthday on the Saturday. Chances are I'll be up into the early hours, then fast asleep infront of the TV come 7am.
Really looking forward to see how it all shapes out though. On paper you'd say Brawn are going to cause a real upset, but I can't help but feel it will go pear shaped on the day. I'd love to see them win the first race though...its as close to a rags to riches story that you will see in F1.

Re: 2009 ING Australian Grand Prix
There should be a 'suis' in there.
Tu est merde non? Maintenant....
I shall be awake from Friday mornin all the way through to Sunday.... so will be USELESS in the GPC that night lol.
Looking good for BRAWN GP, about half a second quicker on the long runs aswell as the qualy runs.
Tyre performance is proving consistant and times are reflecting this. Honda used to have a problem getting heat back into the tyres on short runs. Im guessing they've gtten over this particular issue.
Also look out for BMW and Toyota, I think this is going to be the most open 1st race in years

Re: 2009 ING Australian Grand Prix
With a lot of teams showing promise throughout testing it going to be hard to predict who will be the Mid(Nick Hied)field runners this season

Re: 2009 ING Australian Grand Prix
really looking forward to this myself too, plus the added benefits of not having to sit through adverts all race. that's almost worth the licence fee in itself.

Re: 2009 ING Australian Grand Prix
:D
I hate Richard Branson, taking all the credit for the car, he DID NOT invest in Ross Brawn or that car, Honda did some 15 months ago, and also, he waited to see if Brawn were good BEFORE pouring in the money, now hes taking it over.
evil, evil man...
[rantover/]
a few months ago I said '2009 WILL BE BUTTONS YEAR' as a joke on a motorsport forum...
Scary stuff.

Re: 2009 ING Australian Grand Prix
I totally agree with you Nicky about Branson, they basically talked to him at the end of the session like he was one of the main reasons they were so good. But I suppose he has now given them the change to develop for years to come rather than just this season.
Oh, and DC and EJ are gonna produce some fantastic telly this season They have already started arguing and the first race hasn't even happened
