If everyone/anyone is having these issues then wouldn't the logical thing be to hold of on the championship for a bit?

Given the fact SMS are still finalising the patch and haven't even began testing it as yet, then Bandai state they will test it for seven days before finally passing it to Microsoft for a further several days testing I personally can't for the life of me see this patch being rolled out, if its even stable, in less than a month.

No, the patch is already out on PC (v1.3) and has been since 13 May - it's currently being tested by Namco Bandai before being released on XB1 and PS4 (PC patch can be released immediately as no certification is required).

Here's the actual build notes for the new build released on 13 May:

"Patch 1.3 (13/05/15) 15.9 MB
Track Fixes:
* Zolder: Fixed cars garaged in 2 closed garages. (This fixes where you could get stuck in a garage during FP and Quali).
Controllers:
* Changed XB1 pad rumble to only update during the per frame tick and not at 600hz (Should make steering more responsive on the PC with the XB1 controller).
* Use absolute acceleration values for blending and updating steering movement to prevent negative direction (Moving the XB1 pad far left to far right, sometimes the steering got stuck, this should stop that happening).
Online:
* Removes the need to access the game setup details (Fixes occasional crash when advancing from Quali to Race).
* Crash in ProximityDetectorUserDataCreateCallback (Fixes occasional crash when returning from a race to the main menus).
* Disable driver swap for TT and MP"

TORA Avon Tyres British GT Championship: General Discussion - Page 8 Empty Re: TORA Avon Tyres British GT Championship: General Discussion

Post by AMR of the Apex Wed 20 May 2015 - 14:26

There are championships in real life that have dropped rounds, we don't do them to mimic the real life championships, but there have been times in the past where we've had to drop one round due to something like xbox live failing on us. A Classic Example being TORA GT Season 9, the first with "race" spec cars, the first with a big prize at the end, over 100 competitors for round 1.

In the same way a pace car issue caused a massive pileup in an European Le Mans series race, it's a "safety cushion" more than a "strategic option".

In the case of CQR's non-attendance in round 5 of the V.A.G. Trophy, it wasn't with the intention to cause confusion post-season, unfortunately some people still dont see it that way.

Thanks for the notes Mark, was wondering if anyone had access to them. I assume they can be found on the CARS forums too?

Yeah, they're on the official forum too (slightly differently worded, but it's essentially the same v1.3 patch):

FIXED ISSUES FOR PATCH

- Issue where cars would garage into closed garages in Zolder
- Console TT is now set to 11am to match PC
- Re-enabled saving of Community ghosts
- Added ABS brake rumble to XB1 triggers
- Changed XB1 pad rumble to only update during the per frame tick and not at 600hz
- Use absolute acceleration values for blending and updating steering movement to prevent negative direction
- XB1 trigger rumble scaled along with FFB rumble. XB1 analogue stick range corrected to use full extent
- The driver can no longer be switched in MP races and time trials
- Fix for NULL pointer protection when accessing ProximityDetector GUI

Didn't even know about the Zolder one. That's hilarious in a way!
There should be a button assignment whereby after a mid-race retirement your team can pull down the garage door in a huff :p

If you are offended by the comment I am about to make, tough, thats your problem.

AMR Garage wrote:In the case of CQR's non-attendance in round 5 of the V.A.G. Trophy, it wasn't with the intention to cause confusion post-season, unfortunately some people still dont see it that way.

In fairness, if the team that finish 1-2 in the A lobby throughout the whole season are beaten in the teams, then I would start to question the points scoring system myself.

Yes I had to use my drop round due to not being able to connect to the lobby in the first round, and I am grateful that this was implemented, as this meant I could still be competitive through the rest of the season.

The ruling for the scoring in the teams should be the same as the V8 series, in which the top 2 drivers of each team score the points. Thus making it fairer for scoring. Drop rounds can be put in place for the drivers championship as not everyone can make time for a race night or connection issues happens every week.

Don't know if this has been answered and I'm not able to trawl through five pages of discussion to find out so here goes:

The longest IRL Brit GT race is the Silverstone 500, a 3 hour race. Its run at the height of the day too so it doesn't transition into or out of night. Last year they ran from 1400 - 1700.

Is the patch actually live now already?
Because sure it all seems nice if they fixed it (which I don't believe till I drive with it), but it has no use if it's not live to download for all of us.
And since MS will also test the patch according to the latest statement on the pcars forums.

HCR Solar wrote:Drop Rounds are arguably the best thing TORA have EVER put into a Series, how do 1 know 1 day imma get Ran over by a Bus and not be able Compete in 1 week Race *Yes highly unlikely* but stuff happens everyday not all of us can be there every round, none of us know if a family member will fall seriously ill 1 day or ya self, Drop Rounds are the way 2 go if people dont agree with that, u obviously dont have Commitments and are Very Secure that none of your family Members will fall Ill around that time Slot, not causing arguments im stating FACTS!

I agree in principal with what you say but;

1) I signed up to the championship knowing that it is highly probable that I will need to miss one round because ill be getting wet at the side of Donington Park for most of the day.

2) Dropped scores work best when the rules mandate which score will be dropped. For example F4's dropped score rule states that the drivers lowest scoring round in which the driver takes the start will be dropped. That means if a driver misses a  round they cant drop that score, but if they crash out they can. The rule deals with avoidable and racing incidents but doesn't give a get out of jail free card.

3) I know nothing of previous series, be they VAG or Pro GT or whatever. I do know about the Britcar Endurance Championship last year which was decided under extreme controversy. During the Snetterton round of the championship David Mason was unable to race because his wife was in hospital. That left Calum Lockie to race alone in a nominally pro-am championship, nominally but it wasn't written into the rules. To add to this a force majure rule allowed the Lockie Ferrari to run Pirelli tyres compared to everyone else's Dunlops, the Italian rubber is faster.

At the end of the season the FF Corse machine took the championship by a single point from the Neil Garner Mosler, arguably a point lost because the class 2 Ferrari had an all pro driver lineup while Manuel Cintrano had to take a stint in the class 1 Mosler.

This sequence of events, while completely legal under the rules of the championship, caused so much resentment the Mosler will not return to Britcar.

I have to ask if a rule which is open to strategic use in this way, the same way as the tyre rule in Britcar or the unwritten rule regarding Pro-Am driver line ups, is the best way to go in a championship which will have such media interest and support.

Please note alterations in the Rules package concerning dropped rounds.

We wil also introduce a small 'attendance bonus' for those drivers who do attend every round.
The hope behind this is that while those who are unable to attend every round are assisted by a dropped round, those who do are also due a small reward.

What's the procedure going to be on restarts as youn do known you can't just back out to the lobby and try again you will have to reinvite everyone....my suggestion is you set lobby's for two races this will give u one restart as everyone can retire and skip to next event otherwise restarts are going to take time to do
