TCR Endurance GT Challenge - Rules & Regulations
After many updates and improvements to both Project CARS and Xbox LIVE, it's time to re-assess the viability of running competitive races on Project CARS. This race will serve as a "tester" for any upcoming events on P.CARS, and therefore has been posted as a TORA Community Race, rather than in the "Pitlane". Lobbies will be seeded in order of sign-ups, and there will be no cars removed from the list as we use this race to take a new look at the BoP. To help test the BoP, there will be an entry cap of 3 drivers for each car to create a diverse field. If all goes well, there is a chance of races like this coming to the "Pitlane" in the future where we can then strive for the highest competition, and car choice will be unrestricted
General Rules & Driving Etiquette
GT racing, as defined by TORA, is a non contact sport. It is understandable that on occasion some contact may occur that is not expected by either party, for example due to lag. Competitors with 'lag' issues will not be penalized, but may be asked to improve their connection, if the issue is persistently hindering other's experiences please see connection section.
TORA expects competitors who partake in its championships and meetings to behave in an appropriate and respectable manner. Insulting comments or behavior towards fellow competitors and race stewards is unacceptable and will be dealt with severely.
Competitors who are being followed on a straight part of a track by another car may move their position on the track ONCE to defend, any further sufficient movement outside of cornering will be deemed as weaving and you may be reported to the race director or head steward after the race.
If a competitor leaves the track at any time, it is advised that extra caution is taken not to impede other drivers when rejoining, please check and look before rejoining the track. Common courtesy stipulates that a driver in a dangerous position on the circuit should alert oncoming drivers of their position to avoid additional incidents, (essentially the yellow flag rules.)
Track Limits
The track limits are determined by the solid white lines either side of the track. At all times, two wheels must remain on this part of the circuit, unless of an occurrence where it is near to impossible to keep two wheels on the track, like avoiding a collision. During a race meeting, each time the track limits are not adhered to, a warning will be given. Each driver are allowed five warnings of all four wheels leaving the track via the inside of a corner, at any part of the circuit. If a sixth and subsequent "corner cutting" occurrences happen within a race meeting, then that driver will lose a position for each corner cut. Again, if a corner is cut to avoid a collision, this would not be given a warning.
The track limits must be adhered to in the event of gaining an advantage whilst having an on-track battle. If a driver overtakes a driver by getting all four wheels off the track, the driver must give that position back before they may continue the race. If the driver which was overtaken backs off heavily either through incident or "mechanical" failure, then the position will not need to be given back.
Point System
This will be a race fought by each driver for themselves, there will be no team entries.
Points will start at 32 for Lobby A winner and will descend by 1 with each racer receiving one point less than the driver in-front of them and one point more than the driver behind them. The number of laps completed by each racer will then be added to their score. Each lap completed will count as 1 point.
Car & Livery Choices:
Drivers are allowed to used any car in the "GT3" category, but there will only be 3 entries per car allowed, given on a first-come-first-served-basis.
Each car will have 1 livery designated as a "default" that any competitor can use. The remaining liveries can be claimed by drivers when they sign up, and will be reserved for them to use. With the exception of the default liveries, each livery can only be claimed by 1 entry. Entries that submit a livery choice that is already reserved will be asked to choose a different livery before they can compete. Please see the "Car List" thread for more info on default liveries.
Race Meeting Procedure
We will start registration with only 1 lobby of 16 participants on a "first-come-first-served" basis, further entries will be placed in the reserve. If there are 8 or more reserve entries, we will then have 2 lobbies of at least 12 participants. There will be no more than 2 lobbies, with a final cap of 32 participants.
Qualifying & Warmup
The race meeting will start with a 15min qualifying session that will determine what lobby you will race in, with the fastest time being pole in Lobby A. The only exception to this will be between myself (TechnologicMau5) and Mr Driv3 who are designate hosts. The fastest of the hosts will host Lobby A, and the other will host Lobby B. Once you are in your race lobby, your qualifying time will be discarded, and there will be another 20min qualifying session to set the grid. This will lead into a 15min Warmup session where drivers are free to continue tuning, setup pit strategies for the race, practice, or simply take a break. All drivers must be present & ready at the end of this session as it leads directly into the race.
Race
The race will be run by the clock for 2h00min. There will be a "manual" single-file warmup lap that will be lead by the pole sitter, followed by a rolling start. There will be a speed limit of 80mph until the final chicane where it will drop to 60mph. Pole sitter will choose to start their race on the right or left side of the track, and drivers will be asked to form up in rows of 2 based on their qualifying position. Once all cars are formed up on the starting straight, pole sitter will call a "3-2-1-GO!" to start the race. The race will continue until the end of the session with no restarts or caution.
