Re: DIRT 2
wow the replay quality is VERY good and the particle effects with the dust and rocks are sooooo much better!!!
Re: DIRT 2
Was thinking the same Richy...the insane acceleration from the last game seems to have gone. That said though I don't exactly rate whoever is playing it.

I'll laugh if it was Block
But yes it doesn't look as arcadey and deffo more loose than recent efforts. Hopefully this is a good sign for other Codies releases due in the near-ish future.

the physics surprised me actually. i heard earlier it was based on the grid physics model. im not sure about that now, it looks amazingRichy59 wrote:I have to say, even watching that video it just doesn't look as arcadey as before

Re: DIRT 2
Graphics are great as expected and you have to be a bit more careful with the throttle as its actually possible to lose the back end on this one. And as good looking as they are I can see navigating the menu's becoming a bit tiresome.
Its the same story as the last one though in that I can only see myself playing the proper rally stages, so I'll definitely be waiting to see how much there is and what its like before I look to buy it.

Re: DIRT 2
Rallycross should be very fun going by the Baja races.
Oh, and if you find the menus annoying.. USE THE D PAD!!
You can really tell this game was tested with the wheel and not the pad, its immaculate, it has all the basic principles of driving techniques and consequences, for example, understeer and oversteer, and 4 contact patches (rather than the 1 pivot point in DIRT 1) which require hand braking, sliding and scandinavian flicks, yet they have still kept it at that fast paced arcade mood that DIRT 1 had, and I respect them thoroughly for that. The crash physics are not as good howver, the cars dont bounce anymore

Re: DIRT 2
Yeh, love the demo!
Though, the crash model is still alittle weak. Bacially, if you hit someone and slightly infront of them....you ALWAYS come out better. If you slightly behind....you end up in circles.
Got up to rank 15 last night...might do it all again tonight

Re: DIRT 2
Get this....
so I'm doing the rally stage and the guy infront has had an off which means I catch him up pretty fast.
He turns back onto the track after recovering from whatever's happened right in my way. I swerve to avoid him and get launched into a roll. Our roofs touch as I go and I somehow land, wheels the right way up and in front of him!!!
Only in rallying can you overtake whilst doing a barrel roll!
This is EXACTLY why more games need an uploader for photos or vids. That was simply the BEST pass I've ever done and no bugger will ever see it
