Re: Championship Discussion
Last night was so much fun!
To have Four of us seperated by just 0.005 Seconds in Qualifying was unbelievable! (even if it did cost me a place in A-Lobby! )
The Race was fun too. I had a Great launch from the second row of the Grid and stayed out of trouble for most of the race, also had some great bump drafting from sbiggs which put us so high up until it went wrong and a bump on the straight pitched him round
Luckily for me the big 3 car train that followed me, including a resurgent sbiggs didnt have enough time to catch me after the big gap created by me and sbiggs and i got the Lobby Victory!
I was chuffed to bits!
Replay is in my Storefront and im working on some highlights.....

Re: Championship Discussion
At times Switch, you have to remember that this is being run on a game, not in real life, and as such, it is sometimes necessary to do things slightly differently in order to play to the strengths of the game and maintain the enjoyment factor. A good example of this is the car list for the Super GT series. We found after extensive testing that, instead of sticking to the Jap' GT cars as originally planned; using a varied mix of GT sports cars gave a much more exciting race, and therefore stands to benefit the series. A move like this is something that would likely never happen in real life but can easily be achieved using the game.
It was felt after testing that the stock cars ran perfectly well on road courses with a stock setup, and this would remove the hassle of checking that people were sticking to build rules and not gaining unfair advantages through tuning. The series is now truly "stock" cars, and I would expect anyone here who likes a challenge, and wants to prove themselves, would relish the chance to race in a series where the best driver wins.

Re: Championship Discussion
maybe so, but wouldn't a 'Sense of realism' be key? i can understand the problems it causes to allow any modifying (some people can only be trusted so far), and i can blame Turn10 for not splitting up 'Force Stock Upgrades' and 'Stock Tuning' (should have been 'Default Tune' maybe) further from where they are at now. And im still a little miffed about the '3 car' Safety Car rule.

Re: Championship Discussion
Re: the safety car rules; I just checked the Regulation Clarification thread and found no specific response from AJ or other staff regarding the issues raised from Race 1. I'll try to catch up with AJ and/or Matt in the morning to see if I can get a firm yes or no on this.
The way I would expect any change to work, is that it will remain the same "3 car" rule for road courses as this is proven to work, and deters reckless manoeuvres based on the asumption that any failed move will result in a safety car to undo the penalty of going off-road. Then, for ovals, I would like to see a change to something along the lines of a safety car after a "serious incident", involving any number of cars, including a solo car.

Re: Championship Discussion
Because we obviously only have 8 in a lobby and the penalty is worse for a couple of cars going off on ovals I'd hope to instigate that sort of rule for tonight and keep the racing closer.
Probably best to trial it tonight and see what comes of it. I'm at work until 6.30pm earliest so grab Duncan and explain my decision.

Re: Championship Discussion

Re: Championship Discussion
im now curious as to the testing that was done Aero. i probably wasnt around for it cuz of the time difference, but i just took the stock PI and 'no-restrictor' PI's to Road Am, and the STock netted me a low 2:02, and without the restrictor netted me close to hitting a 2:00.9xx. were times close to that? Also, this Default Tune Turn10 put on these Stock Cars makes me believe the Final Drive was set for SuperSpeedways as even without the restrictor at Road America, 4th gear is nearly useless. my best way to counter Turn10's lowsy gear tune, was to reset the final drive to 3.30 (similar to production cars' race Final gear). And that was all i changed on the tune. i used that on a Road Am tune i created, but seeing we're going with the Stock PI, my tune isnt needed

Re: Championship Discussion
The cars feel pretty good around there anyway, and everyone needs to deal with the same gearing, so it should be fine.

Re: Championship Discussion
yeh it doesnt matter if your faster without the Restictor bacause everyone will be resticted so we will all run the same lower times rather than mass fluctuations of Faster times.
If thats not enough for you may i show you Exhibit B:
(Stock Tunes on Road America)

Well I actually telephoned my main man Xzibit, and he says it should be fine, so we are sorted.

Re: Championship Discussion
I would personally like to see Benchmark Speedway replaced with either Camini Viejo Mini or Benchmark C, we need a short oval on the calendar. Please TORA, consider it!

It reminds me of the old Nazareth Speedway, an oval that had hills!

Re: Championship Discussion
Sorry Switch, I had made a couple of laps on media day with the guys at Road America and thought they handled wonderfully, so I had been talking about running them stock for the entire season, and others liked the idea or had a similar idea from their own testing. I think it will be better racing without tuning, and that is just my opinion obviously, and that is what this series should be about, also my opinion.
