Mugen Motorsport with BrennGP
Following from an exciting 2009 Touring Car Championship campaign, Mugen Motorsport is delighted to announce it will be returning for the 2010 TCC with a three driver team, with three BrennGP prepared Hondas.
As Team Halfords and latterly Mugen Motorsport, we have the honour of being the longest serving touring car team on the grid, having had a presence at every meeting of the TCC since the inaugural meeting at the Maple Valley short track back in 2008. We intend to keep this record up in 2010, and hope that with a strong driver line-up, to be announced shortly, we can contend for the drivers and teams championships.
Our team started out in 2008 with lead drivers ckBrenneke and garyp3398 in a pair of Honda Civic Type Rs, supported by test driver and reserve craigsteralex in an Integra DC5. We progressed into the 09/09 championship with TORA founder jenson09 taking over from craigsteralex, and a switch to the sleeker and stronger Honda Civic Si. For the 2009 series, the team saw a bit of a shake-up, losing car preparation experts GRP Motorsport and driver garyp3398, as well as Halfords sponsorship. However, ckBrenneke formed BrennGP, retained the services of jenson09 and signed AJzero to the team. A new deal was struck with Honda tuning house Mugen which saw the three Honda Civic Si's take the grid for 2009, and while attendance wasn't our strongest, we managed to take a number of wins and consistency saw us finish the season in a strong table position.
Outside of this, Mugen Motorsport and BrennGP will be looking at branching into other TORA series, primarily rally based following a one-car foray into the 2009 Time Attack event, and preliminary talks are proceeding with Audi and Mercedes Benz over an entry into the Touring Car Masters series.
