Re: Who owns Rfactor?
Playing it on low settings for more than half an hour straight makes my laptop very very hot. At 90 degrees C the laptop switches itself off, and this started happening a few times with rFactor.

Re: Who owns Rfactor?
What are your laptop specs? It really shouldn't cause that!
I found updating my drivers using the laptop2go website made a huge improvement in performance on my Viao.

Erm.. Not sure exactly what system information is relevant.
AMD Athlon Dual Core, 2000MHz, 3GB of RAM.

Re: Who owns Rfactor?
Well, you have more system RAM than me, and I imagine that processor is pretty equivalent to what I am running, and I can play rFactor fine with full detail. If your system is burning up like that, I'd get it investigated.

Re: Who owns Rfactor?
Kinda solved the whole "only wanting to race at Lienz" issue, so now looking at downloading several mods, including the Touring Car Legends mod.
Download successful, however there are just folders and files, no "installer" of sorts, anyone know what I should do next to get this mod up and running?

Re: Who owns Rfactor?
Touring Car Legends is brilliant.
And CK, would the heat issue be more to do with my computer being a laptop? I'm sure a full desktop with these sort of specs would have no problem.

Re: Who owns Rfactor?
My Sony Viao is a laptop. Dual Core Intel Centrino 2ghz, 2gb RAM, Geforce 8600 graphics card. It gets hot but it plays most things, even Crysis on moderate settings.
I updated the graphics card drivers at that laptop2go link, and it made a world of difference, so it's worth a try. Might put less pressure on your CPU, and thereby it'll run cooler.

Re: Who owns Rfactor?
I'm using a Xbox controller and the car feels very floaty on the straights. Anyone have a good set of sensitivity settings?

Re: Who owns Rfactor?
I have downloaded an app for my iPod which lets me use the iPod as a controller.
It works in two ways, it has gamepad style ''buttons'' on screen that work very well, but it also has a ''mouse'' control too where you use the iPod's accelerometer to move the mouse around (feels like playing the Wii!).
Now, if I could somehow figure out how to set up rFactor so that the steering is done using the mouse, I could use my iPod like a wheel, which would give me much more control and let me have a bit more fun.
How do you set rFactor up for the mouse?
