I don´t care what anybody says about the the graphics, the handling OR the wide stages.. I can´t WAIT !! I am soooo psyched for Dirt 3 and L.A Noire.. Those two are THE games for me this year ! Smile I just hope you can somehow turn the Audi Quattro into the S1-version.. Everything else would be unfair ! Wink

I hope people are getting more excited about this game now. Just found a confirmed car list aaand well... fans of Pikes Peak should get excited I think. The Rhys Millen Hyundai and Gronholm's Fiesta both in the game it seems Smile

Wow. Massive improvement over Dirt 2. Better depth of view too, Dirt 2 was just always too ''zoomed in'' which made everything seem very twitchy.

The handling looks great on the wheel on the VVV videos.

###########wtf are developers doing to replays in games nowadays ;O(

only 30 secs replays, and only via uploading to your own you tube account, and only straight after any event, and only in 480!! WTF

The EGO engine never has had the ability to save replays. Plus the file size must be massive, no wonder it takes so long to upload.

Players are reporting that the handling is on par, if not better than GT5 and Shift 2.

Yeah, but Rally games traditionally always have very arcadey unbelievable handling, the exceptions being RBR and WRC 2010.

Hopefully the cars feel like how you would imagine a rally car to feel.

That's a little unfair. Shift isn't crap. There is FAR more better immersion there than GT5. Fine the handling isn't perfect (yet) but hey racing isn't meant to be easy.

Post by AMR JSlim Sun 22 May 2011 - 18:17

No no no, Shift is crap. I'm talking about the Handling, nothing else. And compared to other Racers out there Shift is one of the worst. It's funny actually, because I prefer the handling physics to NFS underground than Shifts joke of a physics engine. Defend it all you like, but Shift is no where near being a sim, not saying Forza is but it's hell of a lot closer than EA can even dream of.

I'm not saying the racing is crap or the looks (Shift looks stunning) but I think its out of order to even label it as a sim.

V8 Superstars has a better physics engine and that game is truly awful.

Shift will be fixed, for me the handling is better than forza, for me.

The Dirt devs and producers themselves say the handling is around 5 out of 10 on the sim scale. That being said, it doesn't have to be sim to be right, Dirt2 imo is the best wheel game on the xbox 360 outright!!!

A rally sim would be incredibly difficult. Anyone who has played RBR will know that.

Dirt 3 - Page 4 Img_0111

Found it on the shelf in Tesco last night, even although it's not supposed to be out until Friday Very Happy

Had a quick shot, and I broke my steering wheel good and proper after I had done some serious damage to it on Shift.

I absolutely loved Dirt 2, it's one of my favourites. This just feels moee of the same. It isn't the big step between games that was between Dirt 1 and 2. It's still a good game though.

As for the handling it feels a lot more arcadey than Dirt 2. The cars barely slide in the rally stages, so when your expect to slide the car around a corner it just grips and doesn't feel right. I ended up in the trees far too many times as I was expecting it to slide like in Dirt 2. In Dirt 2 I always felt like I was on the edge of grip and it was brilliant. After I broke my wheel I used the controller and didn't enjoy it, it felt like Shift with a controller, as in the cars were far too positive in terms of steeling.

Unless I can get a new Xbox wheel I may put my copy up for sale as I still have my Logitech and will either get it on PS3 or PC.

Yeah there is a lot of rallying in it. I'm enjoying it more with the controller now. Gymkana is amazing fun. I love just running about in the compound trying to do all the missions.

I always found Dirt 2 to feel very arcadey, the cars seem to get round the corners too easy, the challenge in Dirt 2 is threading it between the lines on the rally stages, not the handling of the car. Dirt 3 has looked a lot better from what I have seen.
