V8C Camino Viejo XR 1000km Challenge - 9th November 2010, 8pm UK time
To see the V8's off with a bang, we will be running a Bathurst-style endurance race to take place on November 9th at 8pm UK time. It will be a single 70min race at Camino Viejo Extreme Reverse.
This will serve as a standalone event, and therefore will NOT score points towards the V8C standings, which are now final. This is in order to allow for new entrants, driver, team and car changes.
The general rules for the event will be exactly the same as those for the V8C series, except that (although due to the length of the race this is likely a necessity, however) you MUST make a mandatory pit stop at least once in the race.
A fresh entry list will be drawn up for this event, so please submit your entries in the following format below (teams & privateers both require a team name and sponsor please):
Team Name:
Title Sponsor:
Driver 1:
Driver 2:
Driver 3:
Car Preference:
Race numbers will be allocated consecutively per team, allowing 3 slots per team regardless of driver line-up to allow for drivers to be added later if they sign to a team after initial application.

That stinks. This sounds exciting but I cannot race seeing it is on a Tuesday. Hadn't been able to race my Valvoline Falcon and wanted to use it at some point.

Re: V8C Camino Viejo XR 1000km Challenge - 9th November 2010, 8pm UK time
Thanks to nicky for clarifying a few things for me. Below are the details on how the scoring will work for this event.
Like most real-world endurance events, we will hold two concurrent trophies; one for privateers, the other for teams.
The privateers will simply run, and receive their finishing positions normally.
The teams however, will score AS A TEAM.
The way this will work is as follows:
The finishing positions of the drivers within a team will be added together, then divided by the number of drivers to give an average score. This will enable a fair comparison between 2- and 3-driver teams.
The finishing positions for the team trophy will then be calculated based on the lowest average score first, down to the highest average score. In the case of two teams having the same average score, the team with the highest placing driver will take precedence.
For example:
Team 1 - Driver 1 finishes 1st, Driver 2 Finishes 5th = 6/2 = 3
Team 2 - Driver 1 finishes 6th, Driver 2 Finishes 7th = 13/2 = 6.5
Team 3 - Driver 1 finishes 2nd, Driver 2 Finishes 3rd, Driver 3 Finishes 4th = 9/3 = 3
So in this example, the finishing order would be:
1 Team 1 (highest finisher = 1st)
2 Team 3 (highest finisher = 2nd)
3 Team 2
This should make for some interesting results!

I'm happy whilst abit dissappointed, It took me a few laps to get into the 29's but then It was consistent 29's. My fastest clean was a 29.6 but I somehow found .4 just in the first sector, I got soo close to running 28's...not happy I didn't manage it.

Re: V8C Camino Viejo XR 1000km Challenge - 9th November 2010, 8pm UK time
Well done everyone, and particularly well done to those in "B" lobby for continuing to push. As you can see, it paid off, as, taking all the race finish times including those not on the lead lap allowed me to slot both lobbies together, seeing several "overtakes" by the guys in the second lobby.
Note to self - the whole "average score" thing doesn't work! It probably would if everyone had raced, but they didn't so it's kinda unfairly skewed the results. Therefore I should probably look at using the "normal" team scoring method if you all agree?

what happened in A lobby?
in B lobby, magic and i pretty much pulled out in front of everyone and just put the right food down.
lapped chucky and pebb (who were having an interesting race of their own)

I got damage early on leaving me with aero damage for the race so lost colin untill the last five mins when he lapped me
Re: V8C Camino Viejo XR 1000km Challenge - 9th November 2010, 8pm UK time
I had a good start to the race, but the lap after I ran a 2:31.4, I tagged the retaining wall at the kink at the bottom of the track and from then on, I was at least 1.5-2 seconds off the pace.

Re: V8C Camino Viejo XR 1000km Challenge - 9th November 2010, 8pm UK time
I stalled on the startline (not too clever) then when barrelling into the long progressive right-hander using the line and braking point I usually take, I noticed gary had run a little wide on entry but I misjudged passing him at speed and clipped a hair MORE than his wing mirror. Not too clever again on my part (apologies gary!) and left me with 31% front aero damage and 21% sides before the first lap was even done.
Nothing worse than a tad over-zealous into the same corner on two occasions for the rest of the race, but the damage was already done. Without the ability to turn in as sharply or apply the throttle on exit as early, my times were way down. A pretty lonely race, but I kept pushing because I knew the B lobby guys would be too. Missed out on getting a final lap in by 4 secs.

Re: V8C Camino Viejo XR 1000km Challenge - 9th November 2010, 8pm UK time
Cheers guys.
I had a good start, my main priority was to get round the first lap with no damage. After I had a couple of seconds gap it turnt into a hotlapping session for me... I knew I was racing Magictap and with no idea how he was doing in the other lobby I had no choice but to run 29-30's every lap to give me a good chance of the win.
I went off the track 3 or 4 times (That hairpin after the long straight, right at the start) by just out braking myself. But somehow even when I went off I still managed to gain time towards the end of the lap and run a 30/31. I didn't expect to take the win by the amount of time I did.
I might try and get some shots up or even a video of a lap. We'll see.
Oh and I was the only privateer, won the title before I even set foot in the car.

Re: V8C Camino Viejo XR 1000km Challenge - 9th November 2010, 8pm UK time
I put in my quickest lap ever in a V8 round there and pushed all the way, pitting half way so refuelling didn't take too long and so I had the freshest tyres for both stints. No matter how hard I pushed I was just not on your pace Slim, outstanding.
I to had a few offs from out braking myself, fortunately each time I managed to avoid contact while crapping myself!! With cold tires I really struggled on lap times both at the start and after my pit stop. Just couldn't go below 2:35's each time for about 6 / 7 laps ;O(
