Re: BTCC 2011
Haha, I wonder if we will all of a sudden see some ''Chevrolet'' branded Vectra's soon
''We sell Vectra's in south america! Honest!''

Re: BTCC 2011
Anyone ready for some more of Plato's moaning about the turbo's this weekend?? Alan Gow will have to restrict the turbo's as this season is all about parity between the turbo and s2000 cars!

Re: BTCC 2011
Its fine the way it is. BTCC converted to NGTC for this year, the NGTC/S2000 hybrids should be the better cars.
I'm all for faster cars, no FIA Bureau tactics here please.

Re: BTCC 2011
3 red flags, umpteen offs and a fair bit of damage and it is just qualy.
The Hondas look tremendous though. 6 tenths ahead of the next position, and that's carrying ballast.

Re: BTCC 2011
Good stuff, Honda first and second. There's something needed done though about the disparity between the turbo and NA cars though.

Re: BTCC 2011
There is an official BTCC Podcast (just discovered this)
However they arent long, they are practically ringtones compared to the unskippable double-cd's that are OUR podcasts.

Re: BTCC 2011
Thats how podcasts should be. Gareth Jones on Speed hits the sweetspot of around 30-40 minutes.
MWM is a different matter, because they cover a lot of content, and they are live, and all of it is very interesting to listen to.
I must confess to skipping through quite a bit of the TORA podcast, probably because i'm ignorant towards any racing on TORA that i'm not in (which is pretty much ALL of TORA's racing at the moment) I am more interested this year though because there are several big ''strong'' teams this year, and its actually rather interesting to follow.

EZT Ash wrote:The NA cars buying turbo engines?
Nope, for various, mainly 'political' reasons. Chevvy won't go NGTC because they already have an NA S2000 engine prepped from their WTCC campaign. Wouldn't be beyond RML to build an NGTC engine, but someone has to fund that, and unless Silverline (who are already paying Plato's wages) or Chevrolet UK stump up the cash, they'll go with what they have.
The BMWs are a different story. BMW has refused to acknowledge the NGTC regs and engine, instead seeing S2000+'s 1.6 turbo as the way forward, so they will pull support for a team who uses an NGTC engine in a BMW chassis.
The easiest solution would be for TOCA to regulate the turbo engine, bringing it in line with the S2000 engine, but at the end of the day, S2000 took two wins and a third at the last event. Hard one for TOCA to preside over.

Re: BTCC 2011
You gotta have a Turbo to be quick in the BTCC! Nice race to start the day, great to see Jordan taking the indie win ahead of Nash, and great to see the Vauxhall young guns taking the fight to Flash and Neal.

Re: BTCC 2011
not impressed with that race at all, there's too big of a gap between the NGTC and S2000 cars for there to be a properly close race

Re: BTCC 2011
Shedden excluded from race 1 for a technical infringement, something to do with the boost from the turbo's.
