Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
also bear in mind we don't know what settings they are using for this. I would imagine if you are not in Elite Mode then the handling is bound to be quite close to SHIFT 1. I assume.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Ok so I started to get a little hopeful but now that I've seen these gameplay videos... well the physics look awful. My decision is made, no thank you.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Ok driver in Vid 2 is very bad! I like the debris being picked up on the screen that's nice.
I still think it's looking alright. There's quite alot of pay in the wheel it seems but that is still looking like Shift 1 handling which I guess is closer to the arcadey levels of realism. We need catagorical proof of a definite 'sim level' driving vid to show us what it is capable of.
I'm still hopeful and impressed with the visuals and certainly the noise. Oh god the NOISE!

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Looks alright to me, none of the drivers seem to be very good and the whole look of the car looks fine to me. We also don't know if that is Elite mode or not (probably not, as Elite also gets rid of most HUD)
Its not gonna be a full sim like some people seem to be expecting. I think it looks very good!

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
I don't see whats putting people off.. There is understeer and oversteer present, the wheel moves very nicely (looks like its being pad controlled too) and the car does what you would expect it to over crests.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
I didn't like the collision at all in the first video. The one where the car is on its side and suddenly pops back down like the hand of God touched it is awful. The driver's hands also look like hes steer wrestling instead of driving.
What bothers me most is the great videos are all incredible but also released by EA. Every other independent video outside of EA's own has made everyone go whoa, that sucks.
I want this game to be good so bad, Forza is getting boring at times. Not to mention someone has made a hack to unlock paints and the response from T10 was "...we are working on Forza 4...". Hell they cant even fix their own forums.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
The reason the hands look like they are wrestling with the wheel is due to the pad being used.

ok, wait until we have the game. I will do a back to back comparison vid between Shift 1 & 2 at Brand Hatch using the same cars and upload with my comments

nickyf1 wrote:Its not gonna be a full sim like some people seem to be expecting. I think it looks very good!
Like some people are expecting? They are advertising it as a full sim!!! So of course people are expecting it. But every gameplay video I've seen the physics look pretty much the same as Shift 1...which didn't even last an hour before I chose to take it back (Only game I've ever done that with), and it really is the worst game I have ever played.
All gameplay videos I have seen still have that wonky happy slide crap going on from Shift 1.
Now when they say sim, what I've worked out is...it simulates the drivers POV, not the physics. Jessey Abney avoids the GT5 physics comparison questions in the interviews. This is not "The most realistic racing game ever", It looks stunning but the physics aren't sim.
I will say this now, If it does handle like Shift 1...then SMS and EA are [Censored]. It will hurt them bad.
I don't buy games for the graphics, I buy them for the realism...the last arcade racer I actually enjoyed playing was PGR 1. I'm avoiding this game like its the plague.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Just want to comment on Slims post. I soooooo agree with you taking it back. I nearly did the same but I'm such a stubborn bugger and could see the potential that I just didn't give up.
Every time I put it in I was like wow, this looks and sounds amazing, then 5 mins later I would be taking it out swearing like a trooper about how frustrating it was. Then a patch. more promise, same situation again and again. This cycle went on until after the very last patch.
Now while I accept it is still not as advertised. Its defo not SIM, it is now an enjoyable game to play both on and offline.
I really enjoyed GRID. And I associate SHIFT to Grid but with more feeling.
I am really looking forward to SHIFT 2 mainly because of how much I enjoy SHIFT now. It can only be an improvement on that.
Whether it is SIM or not I wait to see. And will defo post what I feel about it honestly, because either way I will enjoy it.
If you enjoy TDU and TDU2, by looking past the promises and marketing of SIM, you'd defo love SHIFT 2 if it turns out to be enjoyable and a step up from SHIFT, especially if there's a few of us on it.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
I've never played GRID, I didn't hear a good thing about it...so naturally I didn't consider getting it.
TDU is different though. I don't use it to race therefore I couldn't really care what the physics are like because there is no other game that offer's an open world to cruise around. On TDU 1 the bikes handled awful, infact If it was a Moto GP or Superbike game then It would be taken back to the shop without 2nd thoughts. But I still cruised around on them for hours without stopping.
I'll just stick to hoping Turn10 bring back all the goodies from FM1. Even been looking at iRacing recently. So so tempted, but the prices kind of put me off.
If I move to iRacing, it would mean selling the 360. Which is a bloody huge decision for me.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Grid was just a project gotham with sponsors decals. such a shame to waste all the detail of creating a "driver career" type of game. Grid tried to be what it wasnt.
Before GRID and NFS Pro-Street the formula was simple.
Forza / Turismo : Self-preparing Career
Race Driver: Racing-Ladder Career
Gotham: Arcade Racer
NFS/Test Drive: City Roads, Dodging Cops, and uber-tuning.
if everyone just stuck to what they were doing but improving upon it every time, I'd end up with at least 4 racing games, which were all unique. But Race Driver became Gotham, NFS wanted to be GRID, Test Drive...left the racing union altogether.
Forza and Turismo are the only ones that have stuck to their guns, not getting it spot on in places, but at least they arent wanting to be test drive, or anything worse.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
To be honest it's better and more cost effective to go down the rFactor route and sign up with one of the BIG racing groups than paying through the nose for iRacing.
The quality of the gaming is as good as is the levels of simulation and quality of modding. I simply do not see the reason to subscribe to race. The very fact you do means you have to exclude a portion of your potential fan and userbase which to me is totally contrary to the ideals I set TORA up for.
Isn't it bad enough the REAL racing world can be rather exclusive without the sim racing world going the same way.
As for SHIFT2 expect a full and un-biased review on TORACast shortly after release. We will of course be inviting opinion from the community as well so please do join in
