Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Before you say it, I know the first video was put up last week....
Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
so is it a mixed review for this game? and if its more haters than lovers what are the chances of the gt's staying on it?

It'll stay. All staff so far are loving it, and trying to understand the issues people are having, but struggling to understand.
Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Ooohhh Veyron in a drag race... will there be a DLC Eurofighter?
Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Oh god that would be good.
Enforcing no-fly-zones and what not. Could have been handy when ''TORA's last leadership'' was overthrown

I'm sorry, but that's pretty much a lie. From what I've heard over xbox live parties, it seem more like we'll grin and bear it. Without a tune the cars are stupid to drive, and with tunes they're still difficult. Load onto Youtube or Autolog ONE lap you've done in a high performance car on this game where you get a perfect racing line the whole way through, and your car doesn't twitch a bit.
The game needs patches there no doubt about it. It's still really enjoyable, and I'm coping much better but I can see full well where these comment of people struggling are coming from.
Lastly, its all well and good saying saying "All staff so far are loving it", but from another's perspective that can translate to "We love it, and that's it. The community have no say." If solutions in the game aren't found quickly and the GT1 series is run on this game, I can see the attendance being low. Don't get me wrong I'll be there, but the series will flop.
Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Hey Simon,
Yep I understand and we do listen like your idea last night for the LMS which worked great having the diffrent groups made spotting P1 and P2 cars fantatsic.
The GT1 world championship has Richy as the head of the series, he is away at the momment in the North Sea, but he will address all the communitys concerns with Shift 2 when he is back, so we are listining and do listen.
Thanks all for feed back so far

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Thanks Duncan for the reply. In case of possible confusion, my feedback wasn't directed at every member of staff but the way Chris phrased it seemed a bit big headed and just didn't care.
Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Can someone with facebook see if the Autolog challenge times are posted up yet on Need for Speeds facebook page please?

^ This. Switching back to Forza for the ISCC is like night and day compared to S2U.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
The biggest problem i see with Shift is the lack of feedback you get from the car while driving.I have to say the levels of force feedback that comes through the controller is pathetic.I'm not able to comment on tuning as i've not even touched it really.Likin the game a lot though and will stick with it,just hope there is a fix for at least some of the issues mentioned

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
No, I haven't played this game yet so I am looking forward to finally getting to play it this weekend.
As a number of people may be aware, I absolutely hate Shift 1. I tried playing it again this morning and it lasted about half a lap of Spa before I turned it of. It's just a game I can't play but I am well aware that some people love it and I have no problem with that. We all like different things and I know my opinion will never be the same as somebody else's. The world would be pretty boring if we all liked the same things.
Running a series on this game is a big gamble. I was quite vocal about not running this series on Shift 2 and sticking with Forza. But that's not what TORA is about. We are running a series on another game to add variety and choice to our brand. We cannot be stuck on Forza forever. There are far too many other racing games out there that this community is missing out on and we want to try new things. We have done Race Pro in the past and unfortunately it was canned after one season as numbers were low. We still stuck with it until the end of the season and in my opinion I would like to see it return in some shape or form but it wouldn't be a TORA race night as we have them sorted for the rest for the year.
I think some members know this quite well but TORA is largely a Forza userbase. It's not that TORA consists of Forza "fanboys" but we started racing on Forza and have continued to love the game as the years have gone on. Key to that is the fact that we all have Xboxes on here and that is a big part of the reason we have such a strong Forza memberbase. We want to try new things and this year we are running our F1 series on F1 2010 and we will be running a Shift 2 series throughout the summer on a Tuesday. If it proved to be a complete flop we will still be finishing the season. We still have the ISCC on Forza and the Summer GT will be run on Forza. After the Shift 2 Tuesday series is finished we will be making a return to Forza for the Touring Cars once again. We are not leaving the game and there is still plenty of choice available to those who don't want to race on anything but Forza.
We would love to include rFactor and GT5 in our line up as well but until we found a viable way of running a series we will continue to race through the Xbox.
Sorry about the large post.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Large posts are fine Richy, it gives me more to read. I like reading other opinions when they are written out.
Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Thanks worm, I just want to people to understand my reasons for running this series on Shift 2. It is not the "we are the Staff and we like this game so tough luck if you don't" situation that some people seem to be making it out to be. We chose to use Shift 2 before the game was released and we will at least use it for one season and re-evaluate it at the end.
If we had more people use TORA then we would probably see a larger variety of races happining on different consoles throughout the week.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
one thing we discussed...is that if they DO come out with a patch, what if it ruins it for the people who like it the way it is?
i'm in the "i cant control it" camp. i'll keep working on it, trying to get the feeling and controller settings down, but honestly as it stands now, i cant string two laps together without the car either smacking a wall, spinning around or getting stuck in a sandtrap..
