Re: Mass Effect 3
Exactly, and when you talk with Javik about the Reaper troops, it becomes apparent that BW could have literally done anything to add more variety and troop types for the Reapers by just saying that they were from previous cycles. Instead we get Cerberus turning up everywhere
The thing was, Cerberus were always interesting and morally grey, instead of using this in 3 to provide us with some interesting choices to make, they just turned them into an empire and made us fight them :/
I don't even think TIM should have been indoctrinated, he should have been working with us.
Wish they'd kept the Reapers like Sovereign too, all godlike and far superior, and also made them all look different like when they're approaching the Galaxy

Sovereign scared the [Censored] out of me in ME1.

Re: Mass Effect 3
I played Leviathan just a few days ago, and I really enjoyed that. All about the Reaper's origins. I always found it weird though that they said after the cycle is complete and life is harvested a new Reaper is born. I was sure someone somewhere said they take the form of one of the races they consumed, hence why they were building a human Reaper in ME2. However all the generic Reapers looked like the Leviathans.
Harbinger should have had a much more central role in ME3 after the build up in ME2 - instead of his cameo at the end and shooting Shepard.
Also - slight side note - when I was young I really enjoyed Stargate Atlantis and always thought it was cool that Stargate and Mass Effect shared the same character name of (John) Shepard. I've started re-watching it again and my god I can see where BioWare got a lot of their inspiration. The Wraith - SA bad guys - feed on humans to stay alive, and travel the Galaxy consuming them until there is just enough of the population left so they can re-populate and re-develop. They then go into hibernation for a couple of hundred years then start the cycle again. there is constant mention of cycles, existence and such. it's pretty damn cool. Stargate Atlantis started about 3 years before Mass Effect was released.

Thing was they went from "we are each a nation" to being drones for starkid
I think I'd enjoy Leviathan more if they weren't trying to justify the crucible and all that, and just focused on keeping the mystique, around the Reapers.
According to Jessica Merizan who works at Bioware :
And that's why there's no harby...Plfranke: Can you give an answer to why Harbinger never spoke in me3?
Jessica Merizan: we know that's what you hoped to see, but sometimes we have other ideas we want to explore - never get too attached to a plot
Never really focused on other sci fi's, there'e definite links though
Edit: Read that Robin Sachs, (Zaeed) who passed away a few weeks back had recorded lines for the upcoming DLC.

Re: Mass Effect 3
Oh man, that'll be tough to hear. I used Zaeed a lot so was sad to hear of Sachs passing.
Re: Mass Effect 3
I have a feeling that this weekends Operation TRIBUTE could actually be in tribute of him.
Re: Mass Effect 3
M8 Avenger and Inferno grenades.
Zaaed ran with an M8 (can't remember what he called it) and I'm pretty sure his loyalty mission bonus was inferno grenades

Re: Mass Effect 3
Found this on the Mass Effect Wiki:
"Operation: TRIBUTE, one of the Weekend Challenges in Mass Effect 3's multiplayer, is a tribute to Robin Sachs, who passed away on February 1st, 2013. The operation goals are earning points with the M-8 Avenger and Inferno Grenades, referencing Zaeed's old Avenger rifle and his loyalty power in Mass Effect 2. "

Re: Mass Effect 3
Interesting. Would be very cool to have had the rest of the actual characters as unlockables like EDI. I know that one isn't really EDI but she's the same non the less.
Re: Mass Effect 3
GETH [Censored]!NG PRIME YEAH
Also M7 avenger is a hark back to the ME1 weapons.
Shame the edi sextoybot had to be included, but oh well. She should have stayed as the simply the ship

Re: Mass Effect 3
I watched the preview thing where they played as a few of the new characters, and the Geth Juggernaut cannot run, take cover or be sync-killed.
Re: Mass Effect 3
My manifest sucks so I doubt I'll get one
Might go on a binge tommorow night and just play the multiplayer for hours aha

Re: Mass Effect 3
I'm gonna call it and say the first of the characters I'll probably get is the Infiltrator FemBot.
Re: Mass Effect 3
I want the M7, just for old times sake.

The M7... Is that the one without the heat sinks? It just overheats in ME1? And the Collector sounds like funF4H bandicoot wrote:I want the M7, just for old times sake.

Sure is, just needs some tungsten rounds and frictionless materials and you could fire forever

Re: Mass Effect 3
Operation: LODESTAR (Mar 5th-10th)
We are coordinating the largest-scale attack in the brief history of this war. N7 unit actions will pave the way for resistance and conventional forces trying to retake the population centers of our homeworlds. There is no retreat. When an objective is finished or a target destroyed, you will immediately focus on the next. Our assets will provide cover to network ships that will update your targets in real-time. Rally points are at your disposal in the event that all space assets meet with catastrophic casualties. From there, you will fight as your CO sees fit or until further orders arrive.
I cannot fully express my deep respect for all of you, the sapients of the Milky Way who serve together under our banner. When future generations look back on this war, they will see the courage and commitment it takes to change the fate of a galaxy. It has been a hard road, but at last: the end is in sight.
Finish it.
–Admiral Steven Hackett
Individual Goal: This challenge is tiered:
Participation (extracting on any difficulty) earns the 1st-tier reward.
Extracting against all four enemy factions on Silver difficulty or higher earns the 2nd-tier reward.
Extracting against all four every enemy factions on Platinum difficulty earns the 3rd-tier reward.
Rewards:
1st tier – Commendation Pack.
2nd tier – A second bonus Commendation Pack and a banner, (“Stood Fast, Stood Strong, Stood Together”)
3rd tier – A third bonus Commendation Pack.
