Re: 2011 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix
If they were 17 seconds slower in qualifying fair enough, but their debut qualifying times were better than their runs in Q1 in bahrain 2010....I take my taking it all back all back.

F1 photographer Darren Heath on Twitter is saying that the Red Bull front wing is flexing even more than last year through the corners!
Last year at Melbourne HRT were about 6-7 seconds of the pace, this year it was 9-10, doesn't really show much progress does it!

Re: 2011 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix
there are rumours going around the paddock that apparenly Red Bull are using a very small KERS system which is essentially a "start KERS" to help them stay competetive at the start of the races but the system is not as heavy as everyone elses!

In the years 2000 to 2004, the CAR won Michael Schumacher the championship , not Schumacher's "Talent"
same can be said for webber and vettel last year and probably this year, I,ve watched schumacher since his days at benaton,he,s a quality driver(or was) . With the new regs on the tyres and a decent set up underneath i think he could and will upset a few people.Remember him at farrari it was a couple of seasons in before he got a win.

Has anyone noticed how much more improved the BBC commentary is?
Really interesting quali session. For me, I'm pleased to see that McLaren is up there with Red Bull.

Re: 2011 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix
Looks like Hispania wont be racing.
If Bernie is going to fine them for quitting, why stop them taking part?
If Berichello spun off and didnt do a lap in Q2 shouldnt he fail to qualify aswell?
Yes if it was 17 seconds slower then of course we should not let them qualfiy, but their times were better than the ones they set in 2010 at Bahrain where they were more "laughable".
Once again FOTA have to be thanked for not wanting to take to the 50 million budget capping rules. Because if they did, none of the new teams would look as crap. Well done you arseholes.

I'm over the moon that HRT won't be on the grid, what a waste of bloody money. 10 seconds behind or what ever the gap ended as, what a joke. A gap like that is stupid in any motorsport...god I hope everyone is pointing and laughing at the joke on 4 wheels that is from HRT. I would actually refuse to drive such a piece of crap.
Rubens should be allowed to race because he had already shown in Q1 that he was easily within the 107% rule. And he did make it through to the Top 17 so why take it away from him??? Why shouldn't he be racing tomorrow? Same would happen for any of the other teams, if Vettel crashed in Q2 and never ran a lap...are you going to turn him down because he wasn't in the 107% rule? Bullshit, he'll be allowed to race.

Exactly, why bother doing 107% if things like this could happen.

And what do I think of the ALMS....
7 seconds is stupidly slow, so slow that it's actually dangerous. They've had a whole season in F1 now and they have nothing to show for it. Lotus and Virgin are closer but even those are a bit of a laughing stock...but not dangerously slow. I'm not sure what HRT have been doing all pre season, but someone just go and shoot the team boss and get it over with.

Re: 2011 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix
Lotus and Virgin are not closer than they were last year. They're just as bad.
I was expecting at least a midfield slot for Team Lotus, but no this is what happens when the teams that came in for the 50 million limit series are still running to 50 million, its clear to see that nothing improves, and the guys at the front, spending three times as much are still where they are, at the front, when even they could probably be still front runners with spending so much less.
And the ALMS doesnt need stupid gimmicks like the letterbox rear wing to have great racing.

And someone clearly doesn't understand what an opinion is. Hell when I said Lotus are closer, I meant closer than HRT seeing as that's what I was banging on about. So while your at it, get some reading lessons too. And stop nitpicking, cause to be quite frankly honest your doing my [Censored] head in on this site.

Re: 2011 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix
HRT have the bases to have a car to compete with at least Virgin, since the rear end of it is last years Williams and they have techincal assitance from Geoff Willis. For this race they used last years nose, which wont help there cause to become faster, but yeah im glad they aren't racing, you cant be turning up and using qualifying as your shakedown for the car like kartkieyan was.
On the Team Lotus debate, they will get better, their car looks alot better to the other new two new teams and with Red Bell technology being pumped into the car, im sure they will move forward once they come over the teething problems of a brand new car.

Never would have expected this sort of top speed from certain teams/drivers.
