Re: 2011 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix
Kobayashi is looking solid for the race. Perez was very impressive as well. Sauber will hopefully be onto a good thing this year.
Loving the fact that Heidfeld couldn't get out of Q3 but Petrov is well into the Top 10. I really hope Petrov's pace keeps up for the rest of the season and shows how bad a decision it was to put Nick in the car over the Hulk.

Should be an interesting interview with Rosberg. Rookie mistake from the veteran there!

You know an F1 race is boring when you WANT Alonso to overtake.

Re: 2011 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix
Really impressed with Petrov!
Seriously stepped up to the plate this weekend and stood up to take the lead of the team.
Reminds me of Kimmi Raikkonen when Massa had his accident...

Malaysia better be bloody good or I'm quitting F1. The only thing that made the race fly by was these forums and Twitter.

Re: 2011 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix
BBC sport ticker is reporting both Sauber drivers 'disqualified for Technical Infringement'
A sad story if it turns out to be the case. On the positive side... it means Mr Di Resta scores a championship point in his first race.

Re: 2011 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix
Stupid, useless, breast implant racing. I have no time for it.
Remember 10 years ago when F1 was F1, not ''F1 ARCADE!''? Remember when drivers could choose whatever tyres suited them, and the tyre manufacturers made good tyres. Remember when F1 was about competition between manufacturers, be it Engine, Chassis or Tyre?
Now its like watching plastic vomit on a shelf. And I'm not buying it!
Petrov did well though

The Pirellis are arguably still very good tires. Based on Vettel's pole time, which was faster than last year's despite the loss of a lot of downforce for the double diffuser, they seem to be grippier than the Bridgestones. A single set of them cannot last 4 or 5 races like the Bridgestones because FOTA told them to make tires that will force pit stops.
I agree that manufacturing the racing like this to make it more "entertaining" is total crap, and things like the DRS, two tire compound rule, etc are all horrible gimmicks, but F1 is more competitive now than ever before. You might not have greats like Senna, Prost, and Mansel anymore, but there are 5 world champions on the grid, which is more than ever before as far as I know. Who knows, in a few years, maybe Vettel or Hamilton will be as worshipped as Senna, or even Kobayashi (fingers crossed!). This season has all of the talent necessary to be one of the best ever. Both of the Ferraris, McLarens, or Redbulls have a shot at the title, and I wouldn't rule out the two Mercedes either.
And if Petrov and Heifield can keep the Renault on the pace, then Kubica can come back late in the season, say at Spa, and then wins every race for the rest of the season, he'd rake in 200 points (225 if Bahrain comes back). If the Saubers, Williams, Toro Rossos, and Force Indias can consistently pick points off the front runners, he could actually win the title. That kind of come back would even overshadow Fangio's at the Nurburging.
F1 doesn't have to be boring, you just have to be wildly optimistic. Even a slightly more reasonable scenario where Vettel wins every race from pole would be pretty impressive to watch.
